Lovely, thank you for the tutorial. Gonna send it to my coworkers, so that they can fix their dodgy calibrations. It's painful to rip on their equipment.

Having the blade that close to the wood can actually increase the risk of kickback. It should be above the wood so that the teeth make a downwards contact point with the wood first, with the way demonstrated a lot of the force is applied directly back at you. I used to think it was smart to put it just above until I learned in trade school why to not do it.

The red button is mandatory on all new tools sold in UK since few years back. To be honest I find that to be a very simple and efective safety switch. Nice quality video as per usual from Robin:)

I am not saying this is wrong advice but what I am saying is that if every single time we buy any piece of machinery - expensive or not - we find ourselves wasting precious and expensive hours to check what should be spot on from factory settings then this is all wrong - it turns out many of us have found a lot wrong / offset / off calibration / misaligned but and here is the strange thing: we seem to take the hit and put right what others got wrong for our money... imagine buying a new car to find out the wheels are not balanced, the lights are off track, the steering veers to one side, the washer jets point to the sky and the lot...nobody would a accept it but somehow we seem to accept that in what concerns woodworking tools being the main culprit...hand planes not to mention the lathe world...

Never checked the blade for 90 degrees to the table, the fence could be out, also check the nut holding the blade on, I check with a roofing square on table and circular saws. Good video otherwise.

Hi Robin, I purchased the 240v version a couple of weeks ago. Just be careful when ripping on this particular saw as Hikoki have told me themselves that the 36v version blow control units all the time. They are awesome, Saws, though!

I have the same saw from about a year ago… but always subtracted 1mm from the measurements! Haha, now I see the red line adjustable! Nice one Robin! I polish up the table base for less friction, also bought the 240 kit as can keep going for longer it’s great ! But it does sometimes stop if doing tons of cuts, to cool down.

best tip I could also add to everything said in the video. PLEASE LOSE THE PLASTIC PUSH STICK, make or buy a wooden one, they are not good enough, they can slip, if they hit the blade they can also shatter, Always get a wooden stick. And where were your safety glasses, a black eye is far better than no eye.

I had a 240v dewalt- maybe the 740- 250mm saw. It was really good, but that 240v, and an extension cable... I bought this hikoki table saw, and it is a great site saw. It is not as gutsy as the dewalt. It will stall partway along a cut which can be very frustrating. I like it, I'm keeping it, but I really wish I hadn't sold the dewalt
