Love your content guys, keep it up and love the fact you're showcasing competitive decks on a budget! I'm an avid budget Tatyova player and I find the best cheap efficient instant win con for Tatyova, that I base my budget competitive deck around, involves Tatyova, Mystic Sanctuary and Ghostly Flicker with either a Baral or Lotus Cobra on the field (this board state is very easy to assemble in Simic colours) Here's the combo: 1) Cast Ghostly Flicker targeting Mystic Sanctuary and another land. 2) Flicker the lands and when they return target Ghostly Flicker to stack on your deck with Mystic Sanctuary's ETB. 3) Draw the stacked Ghostly Flicker + 1 more card with Tatyova triggers. Then loop step 1 and 2 using the newly untapped lands combined with Cobra's landfall mana or Baral's reduction cost. It will draw your whole deck into your win con (the other creature of Lotus cobra/Baral and sunscorched desert) and when you cast Lotus Cobra it will net you 1 coloured mana every loop. 4) Once you draw your deck out with Tatyova you remove it from the field with something like Chain of Vapor and switch the ghostly flicker targets to Sunscorched Desert and Eternal Witness so you can keep adding back ghostly flicker and continue looping until everyone is pinged to death. If that fails then I have Field of the Dead to create lots of zombies and swing for lethal as backup! It's cheaper than getting extra turn spells (i'd put any spare money into general deck strength like fetches for extra Mystic Sanctuary tutoring and into counterspells or creature tutors), it has less dead draws with lower CMC and win con cards that are mostly useful anyway, and you can play control based/reactive but remain a constant threat for comboing off at instant speed as soon as Tatyova and Cobra/Baral is in play. Would love to see this kind of deck in action again if ever possible and once again, hope this helps any budget Tatyova players struggling to be competitive and thanks for the gameplay!

200 usd sounds reasonable. You can really make a consistent and powerful deck (for the budget) and not break the bank. Also we should notice that some commanders are more budget friendly than others. Would like to see Tasigur in the future, I think u can build him in a super restrictive budget and still have a very competitive commander.

I feel like golden control Tasigur can easily be converted to a budget actually, you just miss out a lot by not having the fetches. Great idea though.

@@Drazatis My main idea is that the basic plan is budget: infinite mana with Tasigur to "draw" the deck and the usual finishers are also very cheap. Also we are in G to ramp and color fixing, plus dimir has transmute with is a decent budget alternative to the really high expensive tutors.

Commander recommendations: Horobi, Death's Wail: Lets you play a heavy anti-creature prison strategy using a ton of unplayable garbage like Urborg (the original one, not the tomb), Cauldron of Souls, and Squee's Toy. Momir Vig, Simic Visionary: Has obviously been done to death by all kinds of players, but having access to infinite tutors in a budget limited format seems powerful. Anje Falkenrath: Half the deck is already garbage Madness cards, letting you improve the quality of the rest of the deck. I doubt you'd even need to change much about a stock list honestly. Lavinia of the Tenth: Might be the easiest prison strategy under this limitation, as it turns cheap flicker cards into powerful prison effects. Also randomly hoses red.

So I noted one "inconsistency", during the exchange between Vilis and Yawgmoth activations, Yawgmoth should still have been able to kill Vilis if Adam wished it. Yawgmoth gets activated with the Vilis ability targetting Yawgmoth on the stack, Nest of Scarabs triggers, then Vilis activates on top of it giving Yawgmoth -3/-3. The stack then clears down to Nest of Scarabs which makes a token, then the stack goes down to Yawgmoth's ability. Adam should be able to maintain priority with that activation on the stack and continue to activate Yawgmoth sacrificing scarabs to give Vilis more counters before finally going down to -4/-4 and dying. Not that it matters since Joseph won on the next turn anyway, but I found this exchange puzzling. I much prefer this sort of budget cEDH game to the typical "let's all play tier 0/tier 1 etc" games, but Yawgmoth is a powerhouse even on a budget due to how he interacts with relatively inexpensive cards.
@arcs6964 жыл бұрын
No, in order for Yawgmoth to activate again, he will need another creature to be sacrificed in response to Villis' second activation. Remember Villis second activation is in response to Yawgmoth's ability. Therefore Yawgmoth have not actually resolved putting a -1/-1 counter yet and Nest of Scarab cannot create another token for him to sacrifice until that ability resolves.
@arcs6964 жыл бұрын
Actually I just rewatched that bit, it looks like he didn't active 4 times in response to Yawgmoth. He only did 3 times which is not enough to kill Yawgmoth. So you're right he can still kill Villas

@SupaFly Supreme yeah I would agree it's a whole different type of game. I mean there is a blade blossom deck that goes around and cedh that can be pretty big Agro. There are a couple of outliers, but in the end competitive means fast and you're right there are times where a 8 power deck can overrun a super tuned deck. This is especially true if they're not playing blue. I've gone one-v-one again a cedh deck that wasnt playing blue and i just threw em around and killed by turn 6 bc i countered a major piece.

Have to agree that it would be nice to see some games not won by Oracle, but overall nice gameplay. My vote for a budget build would be kinnan, I feel like a lot of the pieces to that deck are pretty cheap and maybe running a cool win con instead of craterhoof would make for entertaining to watch gameplay, maybe a subtle artifact theme with all the Mana rocks, more controlling with lots of mass bounce and or UG prison effects like back to basics and maybe choke/that leviathan/whale that turns all lands into islands 😁 rockdork Lord will still have Mana 😜

Hey! Budget Oracle! 🙄 What's so hard about playing non Oracle win cons? We know Oracle is good and wins games. Powered down or not you're looking for Oracle and one other card to auto win. I may be wrong here but I'm sure most viewers watch this channel and others like it to potentially see card interactions they haven't thought of at work or lines of play they had not considered before. Personally I'm all for fast mana and fast races to the win just as much as I like grindy battles for value. They are both great and even more so using win cons we don't often see that are strong (as long as Oracle is not your basis for wincon strength). Again it might just be me but when I see any intro showcase Oracle as a "potential" wincon or laughably claim it as a "backup" my interest level wanes. I'll still watch but am basically looking for the Oracle turn the whole time 😕 Love the channel. Love the editing and explanations. Don't love the constant fall back to consult lines. I think the game that set the stage for me was the "tribal" decks...merfolk 😅 k Anyway. 2 cents. Keep posting the good stuff 👊

He had 2 cards left in his library and I had gone through his whole graveyard and exile looking for necromancy which wasn't there. So shuffling 2 cards back in takes it from a 50/50 chance to a 1/4. when i think of "budget" decks i think of literally commanders you could get that are about $2.00 or less and it would be great to see what "budget" options there are. But when your literally using commanders that are better with better cards and use "budget" builds of course they're still going to have that influence. Enjoy the dislike and please pick commanders that can be built "competitively viable" that are as affordable as what the rest of the deck should be. Special exceptions for commanders you can acquire through a precon that somehow retains an affordable value such as Elsha of the Infinite which you can get in some stores still at about $43.00 ish.

Sygg is 98 fucking cents I don’t know what you’re talking about EDIT: to elaborate,, yawgmoth is the most expensive commander here at 12$ or so. “Budget” in CEDH means 200$ or less. Because if you’re trying to build a competitive deck you can’t make the deck any cheaper. There will always be must-run staples that need to be in the deck to function. These decks are the cheapest CEDH decks I’ve ever seen. Ever. And they’re 200$ average. That’s reality, and if you think “budget cedh” means below 3 digits then you clearly don’t know what format we’re talking about here

Do you know that cEDH means "competitive EDH", right? I get it, this should be budget decks, but they're far from competitive. "Budget EDH" would make more sense as title for this video.

Negative. Competitive can be used as a description of a meta's playstyle (going after VCs harder with less concern over the social contract) or even relative power level as opposed to raw power level.

@@lvoverride Yep, which is exactly what everyone means when they say budget cEDH.

Somehow everyone comes here completely looking past the "casual"ly part of the channel name

$200 is not budget EDH though. It can be budget cEDH. Budget EDH is more like $75.
