@@jbthestoner5504 In addition to not having the energy to fix the car yourself, you refuse to pay someone else to fix it for you at three times the cost of the parts and you know the likelihood of it actually getting fixed the first time correctly is pretty low anyways. I just buy brand new cars straight from the lot, its easier to keep up with regular mx and make the car last 10 years without a single major repair not to mention the piece of mind and the overall similar cost.

Yeah, I kind of figure it's like a mechanic's car, usually they get tired of working on cars so much that when their own breaks down, they just do the cheapest and easiest fix possible. Usually involving a mix of duct tape and WD40. In a way, being a mechanic means you get to really know what counts as "barely functional" in a car, and you just keep the car like that, much like I'd imagine chefs get to know what is "barely safe to eat", and will then make only that for themselves.

I hate online mums doing that. I DON'T CARE that your son loves this cake and that your daughter won a swimming contest. I'm not your family or friend. Please just give me the recipe. The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in “advanced” countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human beings to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “advanced” countries.

I was a chef for a period of time and while making lush dishes at work was something to be proud of, the burnout at home was immense and this video is on point. Now I'm not a chef anymore, and my love for home cooking is back. And while I'd never come back to professional kitchen, knowing ins and outs of it, is damn handy at home in many ways and it also became pleasure of mine again as bonus.

"A french tyre company rates your restaurant three stars" Accurate.
@mercenaryforhire3453
@mercenaryforhire3453 4 жыл бұрын
If you ever wondered what's the link between tires and restaurant, Michelin began making touristic signs then guides to show people where they can go with their car for a cool trip and eventually using their tires so they have to buy new ones. Nowadays Michelin still does touristic guides, maps and the red book. You can still see some of their old signs that were made in volcanic stone from Auvergne (Michelin's origin region) but they are really a relic of the past.

You forgot the most important thing about plating for professional chefs: You can't ever plate a portion that is big enough to constitute a meal. Plating a single suger cube sized block of basically raw meat, a leaf (cooking it is optional), a teardrop of sauce smeared thin across the plate so it's practically a decoration and a bit of parsley to garnish is considered high dining because less food implies the ingredients are high quality and not that the restaurant wants to charge a triple figure sum for failing to cook the meat and meeting the basic objective of eating: quelling your hunger.
