I was in the first semester of 8th grade when these came out. To think these are the older models of the T, let alone the last generation is crazy to me. As a career operator now, I love operating heavy equipment and it will never get old for me

nice to see improvements and innovation, I hear alot of stories about people falling and hurting themselves getting on these.

I like heavy equipment. The operator is a very good skill. Very good engine sound. Thank you from Japan.

Caterpillar is a leading innovator in bull dozer design. No doubt that their dozers rank as the finest in the world. Safety is always an issue in, around, on, off, near these large earth movers. The safety boarding ladder is an awesome idea. Obviously, Caterpillar listened to it's field operators and installed this to prevent more mishaps. If you examine earlier D10's and D11's, you can see how these safety ideas have evolved. Many more safety rails, grab irons are now a part of these machines. In particular, I like the newer cab design, which allows for greater operator comfort, which translates to more time at the controls. Spending 8 hours or more in these bull dozers is now less tiring and more productive. Obviously, the safety aspect of the boarding ladder cannot be over stated.🔧

I think it is a good idea, especially in a cold area up north where frost on the iron does sometimes cause injury's. However, safety to one side, I question the durability, clearence, and does it hinder side sight any?

we have four of machines with these ladders. we have only had one incident of knocking the ladder off. and yes safety was the reason for these. we had to many incidents of employee's getting hurt stepping off onto muddy tracks, slipping and falling. Being the maintenance supervisor I was leary of these at first. but with everything we have gotten use to them.

I suspect that there are some job sites where the safety folks have determined that they've had far too many falls mounting/dismounting the machine and this optional feature is for them.

While it's true people do sip when climbing slippery tracks it used to be one of the operators duties to as you climbed the track on the left side to first check the coolant in the sight glass on the expansion tank then the engine oil level before entering the cab & startup.

Well iff you had some major brainsurgery done to you like me and still have problemes whit your balance you would be really happy whit a device like this ! Coss going down that huge track off this dozer would be a no go for me. Btw i'm an excavator operator and need to climb in and out the machine lots off times...
@royaltoncoal19718 жыл бұрын
I made the mistake of buying two of these safety units ,and they just got in the way operators won't use them ,and they impair side and rear vision .They ended up in the parts trailer

#1) in the time it took for that ladder to 'deploy' I would have been off that dozer per an old skool trip drown the track. #2) everything works well brand new & outside of a real working environment.
