I just trimmed the very tips of my cat's claws because she would get stuck in the rug just by walking on it. She seemed very relieved after, and even though she did not like getting her nails done she would tolerate the "torture". As for cat beds, whenever we brought a new one home and put it on the floor she would immediately be interested, and would sniff it all over and then sit in it. She knew it was for her! So cute. Her favorite bed was a cardboard box turned on its side with the flaps cut off with an old pillow inside it so it was like a little cave for her to hide in. I even made one that looked like a little house and she loved that very much.

A good thing to use are claw caps they’re safe and do not harm the cat. It’s recommended instead of declawing a cat.

@@pxka5344 Caps arent the best idea,say if your cat escapes and for whatever reason needs to defend it self and can't bite whatever is hurting it or whatever, The claws would need to be used,but with caps they can't be used. Declawing is just horrible,but caps should only be used if the cat is a therapy animal and does places such as schools or buildings

PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER your cat. One of the local shelters gets over 40 LITTERS of kittens in ever day during kitten season. That is just at one of the shelters in my city and we have dozens of shelters and rescues. I have one of the scratching posts you pictured (the one where the cat was using it) and one of the cat towers you have a picture of.(the one with the hidey cube in the top right) My cat spends 90% of his time one one or the other. I got the cat tower for under $65 and the scratching post for under $30 from amazon.

Cats have different sleeping preferences, so it’s no surprise that they’d do that! Just try to ease them into it by slowly moving the cat’s box closer to the bed, or vice versa until you finally get to put the bed in the box. The cat may not like it at first, so just incase, keep some boxes around the house, and slowly remove the boxes until you are left with only the one with the bed in it. :)

I would recommend litter box liners. They are small plastic bags made for litter boxes. When the litter is dirty, you can take the bag out and throw it out. Some of the bags have drawstrings like a trash can for neater clean up. Just make sure you buy the right size for your littler box. Hope this helps someone! 👍🏻😀

My cat often sleeps in his carrier (hard sided type) which has a soft, fluffy pad in it. I keep the carrier in the closet with the door open. This gives him a safe, cozy place to sleep.

It’s so sad and terrible to only realize the truth about declawing recently. We had my old cat declawed only in the front and we wondered for years and years why her personality completely changed in the year after. It was a more common practice then, really before the age of the internet, but I would absolutely never do it again. Ever. It’s good that you’re educating people so it can stop.

Growing up, my family had four cats. All four cats were declawed. Given that my twin sister and I were too little to understand what declawing meant aside from there being no claws to hurt us, we never questioned it. However, now that I am grown and am likely going to be adopting a cat of my own within the next six months, I absolutely know that I would never declaw this future cat, or any that follow. Just thinking back to those four cats we had, three of them became significantly less mobile. Our last one had a noticeable limp. Two of them went from being active and playful to lazy (though now I understand that laziness was actually attributed to pain). They often slept around and stopped playing with toys. The only cat that didn’t seem all that affected was our polydactyl cat. She was extremely flexible and could jump anywhere, so her being declawed didn’t appear to bother her all that much. I’m sure it did, though, but she never showed it. Because I have seen it firsthand, I know exactly why declawing is cruel. I’m glad the practice is being seen as evil nowadays because, back in the early to mid 1990’s, it wasn’t. My mom is not an evil person, so had any of her vets told her what it does or refused to perform the procedure on all the cats, she has said that she would have never done it. Great video! I am keeping a list of items I will need for my cat when I finally adopt the perfect one for me! Videos like this help me remember things I might be forgetting! So looking forward to the day I bring my future kitty home!

In this case the cat would stay with relatives (either at familiar home, or at relatives' house). What one would need to take into account, when leaving a cat for some time? The collars with elastic in them can be dangerous. If their paw is stuck in them the collar whill cut in their armpit. Something to think about ;)

bacardie29 Microchips are important however when used alone they are not as effective as when used with a collar. If a cat escapes the home (or is a free range cat) with no visual ID it puts the cat at risk of being taken in by other people believing it to be a stray, mistaken as another cat or picked up by the pound which can cost you a very large amount to release your pet. A microchip is only useful if the animal is taken to a vet who has a microchip reader (not all do) and very few people will take a random cat to a vet just in case it's lost. In a situation where a cat goes missing having a little tag on it that says "Please call my owner" can be the difference between your cat coming home and never seeing it again. In the event that the collar comes off that is when the microchip becomes useful. Although some cats dislike collars at first you should never completely dismiss something that keeps your pets safe.

We do have a bed for our cat. However, her favorite place to sleep is on top of our clothes piles after I fold clothes. We have learned to keep cat hair off our clothes by having a cloth we put on the piles after we are done folding. She especially loves sleeping there if the sun is coming through the nearby window or if the clothes are warm and fresh out of the dryer.

Lollipop123 That is when the kitten naturally leaves the mom and is fully weaned/ socialized. If the kitten is taken before you need to take over for that mom. That time is used to teach boundaries and good behaviour as well as the amount of time needed for the body to properly develop. The other thing is normally they will have siblings to help teach them that hey if I bite someone it hurts them! Their stomachs and teeth arent often developed properly at 4 weeks to consume solids which can cause massive problems like lack of nutrients or choking due to their lack of proper teeth. This is just a few things of the many reasons why it is best to leave the kitten for longer than one month. It is possible to have kittens sooner but you need to be sure you know what you are doing. It is also important to know exactly what needs to be taught to them as you are adopting an infant of another species and if not done right you can teach them habits that they take along with them or you could harm them accidentally. (Sorry for the long reply)

First, you should know why your parents won't let you have one, then try to convince them in that way. (I've also had to convince my parents for about 5 years btw.) Ex: if they think it's too much of a responsibility, maybe try to do extra chores around the house without being asked to. This helped me to convince my parents (I'm getting my cat this Christmas,)

It helps them to throw up. Cats aren't able to digest anything that isn't meat, so they'll purposely eat grass in order to throw up anything that is inedible and might be upsetting their stomach. Hairballs are the biggest culprit. Don't worry, it's totally normal.

All my cats are 12 & 13 years old. I remember when we tried putting collars on them, that was a struggle! They help eachother get out. So now they are all microchipped and everyone knows that our 1 outside cat is ours. My cats don't like cat beds either, if you make a spot for them they will never go there again its so weird! no but sometimes that means you don't play with your cat enough there is a method that might help you it is called the attack and eat or something like that what you do is you play with your cat and then you feed it . hope I helped you

There are no pros to declawing, not for the cat at least, it's extremely cruel and harmful to them. Thankfully, it's illegal in most developed countries anyway :)

there are pros. aka not getting you furniture ruined. its not harmful to them if they are kept inside. they won't even notice in a few weeks. if you have a cat who goes outside, definitely don't, as they need it for protection. but a housecoat does not need them.

We feed her salmon with kibbles mixed in. Should we feed her just salmon? And my cat is chill with being held in the car by hand. Is that okay? Also also my cat uses my bed and trees as scratching posts. Is that okay too?

Kibble is fine to keep feeding. Your cat may be happy being held in the car but it is far safer for them to be in a carrier in case of a crash or emergency stop of sorts. Trees are fine, the bed would normally be OK but it will make it look messy and is probably better discouraged. If you're still unsure, go check out a forum! :) hope I helped.

It's normal for a kitten to do that, they're play fighting, it's what they do in the wild to devolp hunting and fighting skills, they're also teething, and it helps to chew on things, i.e. you.

I have a small house too!!! I know it sounds weird, but you can take your cat on walks (or play in your backyard) so their not cooped up. Thankfully their not dogs so you can walk them whenever you feel like, just make sure to play with them as much as possible. And it means the cat tree is going to be necessary. You could also get a older cat, they don't need much room because their not as active.

I personally prefer duffel style carriers because I feel when there are plastic carriers it stresses the cat out more because it's dark and when or if they try to stretch out in the carrier they can't really because of the plastic sides. That's just my opinion.
