Harry is home!!!! We were surprised by how loopy he was! Have you ever had a cat recovering from anesthesia???

I don’t have a cat, but I remember my dog being loopy from anesthesia and I remember being loopy from anesthesia.

Yes my old lady went in to have her breast lumps removed and vet decided as she was 16 he rang me half way through said can I take out four teeth too! She loopy when she got home!

Yes. When I had my black cat, Salem, spayed, they did her surgery so early in the morning.they let her come home that same afternoon. She was still so out of it when we picked her up that I don’t even know if she was aware she was home. She slept in my arms all the way home, and then I made her a soft bed in this huge kennel I had that I put in one corner of my bedroom. There was room enough for a small litter box in it, too...She roused for a little bit, then she snuggled down and went right back to sleep...The next day she stirred and was completely ravenous from the day before when she didn’t have anything. She healed really well.

Harry is so lucky that you adopted him. You have been taking such wonderful care of him. Once he recovers, he won't know himself. Being pain free, in I wonder how long? Poor baby. Watch out Ollie!

"Yesterday I cried all my tears out, and it was very wet." LOL! I had a day like that this week. My little 93 year old mama passed away so bravely and I cried all my tears out and it was very wet too. Good description. I'm okay. She's whole now. I just miss her.

We love our pets so much! My 11 year old rescue cat had to have 6 teeth pulled. Having had so many cats over the years - 72, I didn't realize how much I would care, but when she went and hid out, I felt so sad. She did take her pain meds though and recovered very nicely. Glad to see that Harry is doing well.

Welcome home sweet Harry🥰 It breaks our hearts to see our fur babies, or in Harrys case, furless baby, go through pain. What hurts so much is we can’t communicate with them to let them know we will be back to get them and we will take care of them. Our 12 and a half year old schnauzer, Holly, had her teeth cleaned last Wednesday and the vet removed 13 teeth 😱 We were shocked!! She hadn’t shown signs of pain, she’s a tough old girl ❤️She is our grand dog, our son died from a widow maker heart attack , three tears ago and we brought Holly home with us. I cried after finding she had that many teeth pulled , but she was doing good after surgery, so she us on soft food two weeks and NO chew toys or hard dog treats. When you were crying I was crying with you. Love and hugs, Mona

I’m so glad the teeth are out and Harry is on the road to recovery. We worry about our pets so much because they are family. Harry almost acted like he was so happy he was in less pain. I had to put my cat down at the beginning of this month. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I miss him so much.

There is no greater relief than picking up a loved one from surgery! I'm glad Harry is doing so well; he is precioous. I used to work for a cat rescue organization, and stomatitis is really common :( Give him lots of extra snugs!

My cat Lola had dental surgery with many extractions and was so loopy afterwards. Since her surgery she’s so different - happy, playful and affectionate.

You guys are such loving and attentive parents! I had a child I had a whole new respect for my mom/parents! I didn't get my first pet (dog) until five years ago and totally get what you mean about the worry. They are so valuable to the family.

I'm so glad he's eating after the surgery. I would think Harry would be exhausted from the surgery but he seems to have extra super energy. I love seeing Harry's little head rubs to be petted. Cats are so sweet when they're recovering from anesthesia or when they're high on pain meds. I had a cat who was on heavy pain meds post-surgery, and he would toddle across the room, hit the wall with his cone of shame, and forget what he was doing... and just sit there... staring at the wall.

Animals can have some weird effects after surgery. I was a surgical tech at a vet school and it was always interesting . the nicest cats go crazy and angriest gets nice

Surgery is never easy :( My cat does so poorly under anesthesia we don't even give preinduction drugs anymore. Now we just do the gas straight away and that's helped so much with recovery time. But it's still so hard and stressful and scary to go through. My kitty also has a lot of mouth and teeth issues, from being born with calicivirus and other things as a kitten. He was really sick when he was little and had lots of necrotizing mouth ulcers early on. Now he just has poor dental hygiene and needs regular cleaning and checkups. Anyway, my vet told me for every hour they're under anesthesia it means about 1 month that they will be extra emotionally needy and clingy (and I find this is true for my guy). Glad Harry is home safe with you. Thanks for taking such good care of him! He's so lucky to have such amazing owners.

When my dog had her spay surgery, she forgot how to lay down for about four hours. She was so tired that she would be standing and her head would droop until it was resting against the floor. I gently helped her lay down and she was asleep in less than a minute. It was so strange to see her be confused about something so basic, but I was glad that the vet warned me that she would still be loopy.

Our cat Luna also has feline stomatitis (among other issues) and has had all but her front teeth removed. It's typically an autoimmune reaction to the plaque on their teeth. It's been a year now and she doesn't drool as much as she used to but still has issues at times. She hasn't had any issues with eating dry cat food since she doesn't actually chew the small kibble. We also give her a 1/4 of a 3 oz can of wet food twice a day. She picky and doesn't like her wet food cold so we microwave it for 10 seconds.

Good that his teeth are gone, they won’t cause pain anymore and it will also help his heart and kidney. He probably had FORL feline oral resorptive lesions which can cause stomatitis. We had two cats without teeth and they did SO well after the surgery. Harry will also recover quickly! Our cats also were super restless from the meds, it wears off in a couple of hours.

awww. I had Cornish Rex kitties (the ones with slightly more fur) for 17 years, and seeing Harry just makes me miss my babies so much. The Sphinx and Cornish Rex breeds are the sweetest and social cats ever.

Oh yay I’m so happy Harry is home and feeling better please give him kisses from me🤗♥️🐾🐾 Mary my cat passed away this past Monday and yesterday I picked up his ashes in a pretty photo box urn and a sweet paw print my heart is devastated and I am missing him so very much but he is over the rainbow bridge and flying with his beautiful angel wings ♥️🐾🐾✨🙏🏻
