This song has so much meaning for me. It was played at my dads funeral. He was a truck driver for 40+ years and always referred to his truck as his "steel horse". He made so many friends all over the country from driving. Today would have been his 75th birthday!! Great reaction!!!

It's a song about touring. The steel horse is a tour bus. Fans want to see him "dead or alive". "I play for keeps because I might not make it back" is how musicians never are sure if they'll tour again on a new album. He really has seen "a million faces & rocked them all". He's toured in over 50 countries, played to millions of fans every year & sold over a hundred million records. It's about the grind of being on the road & the video portrays that grind. And he's STILL cranking out new music. The newest Bon Jovi album dropped this week. 2020.

Bon Jovi & Sambora wrote this about life on the road. Lonliness. He uses all the "cowboy" references to rock & roll stuff. Ex: loaded six string on my back is his guitar. Steel horse I ride is planes & busses. It's all the same, only the names will change Everyday, it seems we're wastin' away Another place where the faces are so cold I drive all night just to get back home I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride I'm wanted dead or alive Wanted dead or alive Sometimes I sleep, sometimes it's not for days The people I meet always go their separate ways Sometimes you tell the day By the bottle that you drink And times when you're all alone all you do is think See... its quite lonely.
