For my final fishing session before catching my flight back to Miami I fished the tide pools once again. In between catching a bunch of panamic frillfin gobies (Bathygobius ramosus), I managed to catch one Mexican night sergeant damselfish (Abudefduf declivifrons). While the Mexican night sergeant damselfish and the panamic night sergeant damselfish (Abudefduf concolor) are nearly identical and there is some debate on the range of these two species, I identified this one as a Mexican night sergeant due to the orange streak on its preopercular. If anyone has more information on identifying this catch, I'd love to hear it.
