*_Kahawai_* - Aw. I really hate that the first one got away but the one Thomas landed was beautiful. Well done. *_kitchen_* - Fantastic setup. Looks like luxury camping especially eating properly on a table using knife and fork. When we camp we plop down on a chair with a plate in one hand, fork in the other and a beer on the ground. 😂 *_Paua pie_* - Like Sheena I ate abalone all the time growing up but now it's only a couple of pieces of nigiri when it's available. The pie surprised me. Creamed. Who knew? Both pies sound quite tasty. *_Excellent start to the series!_*

More abalone. 👍 Looked up prices at two local restaurants for abalone tataki, five slices - NZ$22.44 and NZ$31.42. Oh well. Misery loves company I suppose...good to hear abalone prices are ridiculous in New Zealand as well. 😂

Wasn’t it neat? The kahawai down here around Auckland are normally silvery grey- the colour of their environment affects them I guess so that bright blue water means bright blue kahawai. So cool! 😍
