I love this video -- you and Miss Lulu crack me up every single time!! I love the editing and music, too. I love campfire cooking in my Dutch ovens. It is really easy and so much fun -- I actually enjoy it more than cooking in the house. I have a place set up with cinder blocks covered with firebricks in my backyard that I use for my ovens. Cleanup is easy if you use foil when you can, but even if you don't, as long as you rinse with hot water after serving, the ovens still clean up easily. My nice bass I caught last Sunday is destined for the cast iron. Have a great day and please keep posting your wonderful videos!!
@Juanelo19468 жыл бұрын
Hi Allison! You know much more about campfire cooking than I do! Your outdoor cinderblock oven sounds perfect! Foil sure does make cleanup easy! Someday you might want to make a video of your cooking efforts. Watching you cook that nice bass would be a real treat! Thank you so much for watching my videos! Of course, I most appreciate your great comment my friend! Thanks!!

Very well done. What we do when we go camping, is exactly that, except we just put the aluminum-wrapped fish on the outside of the fire along with some potatoes, corn on the cob, and some canned beans. Nothing like campfire food!

Hi Mr. Tag! Yes, I had read dozens of recipes before doing this and you're right! The foil packets should be placed on the permitter of the fire! Onions and mushrooms cooked in butter are heavenly! I would have never thought to add rosemary and will give that a try the next time I make them. Ms. Lulu is right. Excellent vid, John - start to finish. I saw how Lake K was down a bit. This time of the year with the heat and all, the larger fish will typically be off the banks while the little guys always hang close. That little Ned rig you were using will catch those bass if it can get past the bluegill! Loved your Weber campfire! I haven't been active on youtube for a spell because of family issues with a hospital stay and then transferring my 91 year old mom to a nursing facility. Perhaps later this week sister Lorraine and I will get out on Lake E and see if we can find some fish using the drop shot method. Loved Lulu's diagnosis of common sense leaving your body - hadn't heard that in years! I'm adding my thumbs up! Hi to Jeanne and hope all's well. Don & Brenda
@Juanelo19468 жыл бұрын
Hi Don! The lake is down even MORE today than it was in this video, probably a foot and a half! The drought continues! I'm very sorry to hear about the family issues. I remember vividly moving my mother to a nursing facility. But once we found the right place, the peace of mind was so welcome! You and Lorraine always seem to clean up at Lake E! Drop shotting should be a great method for late summer! One of these days, I'll win Lulu's heart, you'll see! Thanks so much for watching! Thank you especially for the kind comment my friend! All the best to you, Brenda and sister, Lorraine! -- John & Jeanne

This video popped up for me and Mawgwe to watch. Miss you two. We don,t get much time to fish anymore. Were so busy with the garden,and grandbabies. We have a huge community garden. Hoping covid hasn,t found you. I had it for 10 weeks,and yes,i wondered if i would live. Three emergency room visits and one dr visit. It finally ended. Mawgwe was sick only 5 days,and our son didn,t take it. Be careful. Give Miss Lulu a hug for us. Do you all need any tomatoes?😬
@Juanelo19464 жыл бұрын
Oh no, Melinda!!! I'm so sorry to hear this news! 10 weeks of misery with 3 emergency room visits? You must have been so terribly sick! Even Mawgwe was ill with the virus, huh? I feel so badly for you my dear friend! Ms. Lulu and I have been lucky to date. We know people who have had the virus, and now we'll add your names to that list. I sure hope you're both all better again. There is a lot of fishing fun yet to enjoy this summer, and those grand babies need you healthy to give them that extra attention that they've come to expect from you. So Ms. Lulu says to get better fast, if you aren't already well. We are sending our love and wishing all the best for you! Oh, as for the tomatoes; out at our weekend place with the lake, our neighbors all have huge gardens, so when mid summer comes, we get more tomatoes than we know what to do with. But we sure do appreciate the kind gesture! You all are the best! 💖🤗

Great video, I've been fishing all weekend, and decided to keep a bass, but it makes me sad because I wasted him, inside his meat there were little yellow worms, so I fed him to the catfish in the lake, do you have any idea what the little yellow worms were??
@Juanelo19468 жыл бұрын
Hi Tanner! No! Don't throw those bass away again! Those little yellow grub parasites are totally harmless! Just pick them out. Just about all bass have them. Their life cycle of the grub is fascinating. I suggest you Google "yellow grub on freshwater fish." The slightest cooking heat will kill them even if you miss one. Thanks so much for watching my videos!

hey there fella another great video. thank you. and did you ever try black crappie they make great meals too. I just might have to make this one. God bless
@Juanelo19468 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert! My lake has both white and black crappie. Frankly, I don't care for the drier taste and texture of the crappie. But I love my bluegill, bass, and the occasional perch. I know, I know, I might have a screw loose, since I seem to be the only one in the USA who doesn't care for crappie! This is a great recipe to try because it's so easy! Just throw them in the foil! Thanks so much for watching my videos my friend, and thank you especially for the kind comment!

Your campfire fish and mushroom side-dish looked very yummy. So sorry about that injury sustained and that fish that got away. You know those two incidents were a foreshadowing in this film for the sting of Ms Lulu's comment and the way she eluded your efforts again. You are quite the filmmaker my friend. Quite the filmmaker indeed.
@Juanelo19468 жыл бұрын
Hi Anne! I was lucky to find such tasty campfire recipes! They worked out so well! It was more painful to see that fish bounce off my lap and into the water, than feeling the hook in my hand! LOL! I think it's YOU who needs to become a film producer!! Yes, the sting was a foreshadowing!! I LOVE IT!! That's how Martin Scorsese thinks! To me, it was just a dumb accident! LOL! Wait though... one of these days I'll win her heart, you'll see! Thank you immensely for watching my videos! Thanks even more for the kind comment my dear friend!

Amazing how those blue gill were tearing into that long plastic worm. I see you had to go to a spinner bait to get some bass. Nice looking recipes John, and you better hurry and go catch your common sense before it goes out the door ;) Loved that!

Hi Rus!! I lost that plastic worm off camera to underwater branches! I went right to the spinner bait, because that little size never fails me! I long ago lost my common sense, and Ms. Lulu knows that better than anyone! Thanks so much for watching my videos! Thanks even more for the kind comment my friend!

wonderful video. Do most of your fish stay near shore even on hot days? Oxygen levels down deep sometimes depletes. thank you again.
@Juanelo19468 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert! Yes, they stay near ONE shoreline. That shoreline drops down steeply into some of the deepest water in the lake. It is also where all the downed trees, branches, and stumps are. So that's why in the heat of summer or when ice fishing, I'm always on that side of the lake. Thanks so much for watching my videos! Thanks even more for the kind comment my friend!

Hi again Bill! Winkiedoodles has a great channel! I never miss a show of his! He finds lures from individuals and small companies, and they never fail, especially in his expert hands! Yes, small world! These mushrooms and onions hit the spot! I'm still learning how to use my Weber! I'm not a great outdoor cook, but I'm learning! The Weber is a great brand! Oh no! The pressure is on me now! I sure hope your close friends are still close friends after you try out my recipes on them! LOL! I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Let me know which recipe(s) you pick and how it comes out! This week is going to be cold here too! Ugh, but 4 inches is too much for March! Good luck! All the best to you! Thanks a million!

Hi Austin! I've only been trout fishing a dozen times in my life. Canned corn worked once! So did a spoon lure, once. I'm much better at giving advice on catching bass, bluegill, and crappie! LOL! John, you were meant to be a visual creative. Not to mention, a fishing expert. Not to mention, a humorist. Not to mention, a loving companion. Not to mention, a great chef. Not to mention, cute as a bugs ear. I'm not mentioning any of those just in case it goes to your head. You are, though, a great visual creative person. You can let that go to your head. I think you found your true calling.
