Catching Snapper, Flathead and Bream in Lake Macquarie

Fishing Lake Mac. Mid October 2022. At last a weekend of good weather. Got a few flathead and caught my PB red (PB for the lake anyway)
I know it's only small compared to the size they can grow, but it's okay for the lake.

Very nice and healthy flathead Pete plus a great snapper I caught a 43 my pb just up from you on Sunday must be a few around. Thank you for sharing always look forward to watching you fish the lake.

Thanks Andrew. It's the first red with a pronounced hump on it's head I've got in the lake. Did your larger one have the hump too?

Hey mate, Im not a gun fisho, so I dont have any "good" spots, but I have caught most of my flattys in shallow water (less than 3 metres) where the weed stops and starts to drop into deeper water. This can be found along the shoreline of the lake. But I've found they can be there one day and not the next. Although in this video, I got some in deep water with no structure for hundreds of metres. They are hard to work out.

@@willbickford1446 My favourite is the ZMan 2.5inch curl tail grub which is small for a flathead , but I've found that flathead will take anything that moves in front of them. They will take huge lures too, I have got a smaller one on a 6.5inch curltail
