I do not comment a lot but I do read some of them . I think that many people underestimate the commitment it takes to be a service mechanic . I speak for myself as well as you . Do people have an understanding of the investment ? A fully stacked service truck and !! a workshop . The special equipment to work on different brands .Diagnostic soft and hardware , Hand tools in all shapes and sizes . Air operated bottle jacks , Welders , high capacity air compressors ., stand alone and mobile , and the list goes on , torches ,tyre changers ect ect and in my case a lathe and a mill . People should show a bit more respect and think . We are the people who are not afraid to get our hands dirty and who are confident enough to invest in ourselves . Rain or shine , we will go and get it done . I do not feel a bit sorry for myself and i feel nothing for those who laugh about my dirty cold hands . Those braindead sheep have no clue . Keep up your good work .

Another point is that the buck stops with you, there is no hierarchy to help get you out of a hole. As a retired engineer and workshop manager I sometimes see things I'm not entirely comfortable with. Dealing with the field perspective changes that. The video where Warren goes up the mountain, removes a dozer engine, changes liners etc, shows the true measure of these guys.

Its a nice, fairly straightforward job changing rubber tracks and undercarriage when it's dry and on a decent hardstanding. I enjoy doing it like that, most definitely not on a wet,muddy construction site in the freezing cold and pissing rain. Especially when its something like a mobile crusher or screener with metal tracks. Their super low ground clearance used to make it a terrible job to do in the middle of British winter. Consider yourself lucky out in the countryside without anyone annoying you every 5 minutes and no traffic jams wherever you go. I still enjoy watching you do stuff I've never done or worked on before. Its interesting. 👍👏
@toddwilson1599

I can appreciate what your saying but I would like to add that Warren has many many times done this type of job in horrible conditions. As far as no traffic jams and annoying people, we choose to live in the country, some of us cannot stand people so we work longer and harder to live away from the mobs.

Hey Boss, if while had ahold of the track on bottom in front. You pulled off, then slack off and put the hoist line center of the outside of track still hooked to the bottom of track and lifted it will roll the track back, clearing the lugs of the drive wheels (no baring etc) then reposition winch line to pull off completely.

I have said it before. I removed the tents and the air bags and chained up the bogie frames. I actually used the cylinder stops for safety reasons. But I also jacked the tractor up first. I supported it the very front and under the draw bar. I I did this in June and it is still waiting waiting for the tension cylinders to come back from Cat. They would no longer hold nitrogen.

Warren, you tie the cylinders together to detention them and you may leave them tied together when you tension the new ones that would mean they would have to be a match set. How much if any can that center pivot move, and if not? How would you tension the tracks the same. if you rip one would you have to replace both?

The rubber on the outside doesn't really effect the track you can run the right to the metal and be fine its just another cushion layer for it even Asv will tell you dont worry about replacing the wheels run them and they have kinda the same set up and from what I noticed its true and why would the dealer lie and make less money than selling the wheels?

Oh yeah john deere 764 speed dozer same set up and you don't need to replace the rubber rollers on them you can run them right on down and they run camso tracks on them ran them plenty and its in gravel all day long so either those challengers got a shit set up or or just guys beyond rough on equipment because something tells me gravel is a little bit more abrasive than mud or corn stalks same with those asv and asphalt as well and even rubber track pavers same thing you dont have to at all they get coated in asphalt and don't eat the track up maybe that's why they stopped making challengers must be junk except for rebranded agcos

If water and shit gets into those cables they are fucked in no time. I had one go on me the other week, small tear in the rubber, been like it for months, tracked 25 yards and the track ripped half its width. The strain on the other cords was so much that it let go after another 50 yards.
