Great video… great job trying to save the Striper... but at least you had plenty of fish for supper. keep posting Dave !!
@gregyazel1705 жыл бұрын
I'm a "striper guy" first, and a catfish guy second. I fish for cats in the hotter months, just so I don't kill stripers. I won't fish for stripers again until the water cools back off in the late fall. I know you feel bad about the striper. I have been in the same situation. The only thing to do is do your best, and not let it go to waste if you cant get it to go. Thing is, even if you had gotten it to swim off, a fish that big likely would have laid on the bottom and died anyway. I applaud your efforts to get it revived, and glad you left it in the video. Cant help it man! Enjoy your meal(s)!

Striper are not native to Tn. I remember when they where introduced. Predators to the bass,cats,crappie and brim. My opinion.

"It makes my day to go fishing with you and all of the people who watch your videos!" I am a "Carpman" for fun: After a mild hit, they give it a good hard run, and then a pretty decent "tug-of-war" after. I follow the protocall of the fisherman in the UK. Respecting and taking care of the fish is a primary concern! Thank you for you effort to revive that fish!

Hi Dave. I was out fishing the other day and I kept having strong runs with my bait but couldn't hook up. So I remembered your pick up the rod and run trick. HOLLY CRAP! I was setting every circle hook on Gar! Sadly no cats but I landed a nice 5 ft Gar. I'm definitely using your technique from here on out! 👍
@chivas94ification Жыл бұрын
Does this apply to circle hooks or just regular hooks?
@maces1405 Жыл бұрын
@@chivas94ification It works with circle hooks. Just don't yank like setting a hook on a bass. You want a long pull while the fish is running out line.

Dave, I rarely comment on anything. I know this video is old, but I wanted to commend your efforts to revive the striper in this video.. We catch massive bull Redfish on the GA coast and that exact scenario happens now and then. It truly bothers me when one goes belly up.. I'll come off anchor, anything I can do to save that 45 pound Redfish, but sometimes, there's nothing more we can do as you know well. You made several very true attempts to get her going. Marks of a TRUE sportsman.. I think you did the right thing for showing it happens sometimes and the awareness aspect... Anyhow, I Appreciate all your content, we enjoy watching.. Fish on, rock on Dave... - - Richie

Hi Dave, I've just started watching your videos, I do most of my fishing on lake Hamilton and lake ouichita In and just outside of Hot Springs Arkansas..where someone thought it was a good idea to stock those useless stinking stripers ..mostly for the tourists But I really dont see a dozen or so guys showing up annually to play catch and release with 30 to 70 lbs predator fish that eat their weight in trout bass blue gill shell crackers and gizzard shad every day..I've had those big ass bait stealers destroy a few of my rods and reels over the years ..I sure wish they quit stocking those things in the lakes.. the rivers are a different story ..I've caught striper in salt water and the flavor is night and day wen it comes to the difference.. I appreciate your videos Dave.. I've gotten a few helpful ideas from you.. lol I'm even thinking of trying chicken breast..lol
