Absolutely the best sailing and drone shots of all the channels, and of course the music as a great addon. I have to watch your ocean crossings twice to really appreciate the sailing and the production. Great job.

Another great episode. Fun to see you race with Pom 3, which (i had to look it up) is more of a racing version than the 55. And got in 2 hours before you. Well done. Ps, i like the shots of the screen too. They display more than you say...😊

Not sure what you mean but when you’re not standing fully protected inside behind the wheel we usually put it in the in between position halfway in halfway out. Works fine

How well that ship flows. Mark, your music selection is excellent. The bad part about finishing the vegetables is that you have to use the carbs. Try fishing. Fish is always a good option. Good sea.
@CatGreatcircle11 ай бұрын
Apart from Marijke’s view on blood on the boat fishing is kind of complicated at our speeds. Even if they bite they might be a bit big for our taste and it’s difficult to slow the boat down But no worries, plenty of healthy stuff on board and sailing always helps to loose weight 😎
@Redvikingable11 ай бұрын
@@CatGreatcircle You are right about the size of the fish. I have read that in that area they are often huge. I understand that Marijke doesn't love it. Good music and good sea. I've been following you since they released the Lagoon 52. That Outremer is a Sea Ferrari.

Regarding your remarks about furling the gennaker: perhaps you could do a piece on how you have got better at furling it. What problems commonly occur, how you see them, how to fix it and how to not get into trouble in the first place. It would be useful for me, so possibly others too.
@CatGreatcircle10 ай бұрын
We never script anything but it should occur every now and then. The main thing during furling is to be between 150 and 160 TWA so the pressure in the sail is lower but the front doesn’t come to the other side. When it gets stuck during unfurling stop immediately and start furling a bit again with no pressure on the sheet. You should be able to see when you refurled enough and then you tighten the sheet and slowly start unfurling again. Sometimes you have to repeat this a couple of times

There was a moment in this video when the bow was almost completely buried. You were in light winds and not a big swell, so I was a little surprised to see that. I know its the Indian Ocean and there is a big swell under the “local” wave pattern. How does the Outremer 55 perform in big seas? Do you bury the bow very often? Do you ever feel at risk of cartwheeling in big seas on that boat?
@CatGreatcircle11 ай бұрын
So far after more than 25000 nm and quite a few significant ocean crossings we never buried a hull, the thin bows just slice through the water. If you look at an older video when we where on 5X Biotrek from LGM to Cannes you can see there’s another phase in bigger waves where the bows start creating spray like we use to have in our Nacra at speeds over 20 knots but even then the boat feels really stable.

Why do you take down the gennaker every time you furl? Why not leave it up but furled and have it ready to go next time you need it?
@CatGreatcircle11 ай бұрын
Not a good idea because of UV damage and potential damage to the rigging. Also the sheets are in the way. Sometimes we leave the sheets on and put it in the sail bag on the trampoline, than it’s up in no time
@simonhantler806210 ай бұрын
do you think you need a gennie?
@CatGreatcircle10 ай бұрын
In the beginning we were a bit sceptical as we had problems furling but in the meantime I have to say it’s the sail we use the most by far. And it’s still in pretty good shape after 2 years and 25k nm

@CatGreatcircle10 ай бұрын
@simonhantler8062 either a genset or a watt&sea. While sailing the solar is not enough, on anchor it normally is.
