Purgatory can be experienced both in this life or after. For the Good Thief, he underwent the agony on the cross and realised his fault. If God wills, He can grant remission of purgatory to those who approach His divine Mercy with perfect contrition.

@@andrewdrew677 Didn’t Jerome and Augustine disagree about the deuterocanonical books? Yes, as did other early Christians. Numerous Church Fathers quoted the deuterocanonical books as Scripture, while some did not. Jerome appears to have rejected most of the deuterocanonical parts of Scripture. But he did accept portions and included all seven books in his Latin translation of Scripture, known as the Vulgate. Ultimately, he recognized that the Church alone had the authority to determine the canon. Since there was disagreement between some Church Fathers, it became obvious that no individual could provide an infallible list of inspired books. The bottom line: “We have no other assurance that the books of Moses, the four Gospels, and the other books are the true word of God,” wrote Augustine, “but by the canon of the Catholic Church.” Since it is unreasonable to expect every person to read all of the books of antiquity and judge for himself if they are inspired, the question boils down to whose authority is to be trusted in this matter. One must either trust a rabbinical school that rejected the New Testament 60 years after Christ established a Church, or one must trust the Church he established. Which deserves our trust? Martin Luther makes a pertinent observation in the sixteenth chapter of his Commentary on St. John “We are obliged to yield many things to the papists [Catholics]-that they possess the Word of God which we received from them, otherwise we should have known nothing at all about it.” -From Catholic Answers I am only here to inform, not convince, that's up God's graces. @@andrewdrew677 You perceive to me the kind of person that believes in God Almighty, but when it comes to His ability to work through man, He simply makes mistakes. Now you, a man, is trying to desperately cling to a modern opinion, not fact, that the Church of God, was corrupt from the beginning by men and God did nothing for His people for the past 1500 years. Until your true savior, a German priest, another man, said no more corruption, I know the truth. Where he translated the Catholic Bible, where you believe was corrupt from the beginning, then out of the same person, said that he made a mistake in adding the last 6 books of the Old Testament. Now we have a complete corrupt Bible which you read and draw corrupt doctrine from other men. My question to you brother is how much weight to give the Bible without the 6 last books? If you say lots, then you must acknowledge that the early church, after Jesus, had authority to say these are the Inspired Books of God. If not, why are you following a faith that believes the very words of God are easily corruptable because of the weakness of men. Unless, you believe you have the authority from God to say what is inspired or not, then direct me to the Andrew Drew Bible so that I may know the truth, brother.

@@andrewdrew677 Doesn't matter what they disputed either pro or con. In 385 AD the Canon was set, and ALL included in that Canon were considered inspired. As to why Jerome disputed them; his thoughts/reasons were proven false by the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. As with many disputes; Rome has settled the matter and the Deutero-canonical books are deemed inspired.

@@andrewdrew677 Then why make me read Acts if it was corrupt from day one? What if you're taking St Paul's words and changed it to fit your narratives with you know, the slight of hand? Why bother telling those words to the Church of Ephesians if they could never have the chance to be perfect like Jesus Christ? Unless, there was faith that select few by the Apostles themselves would keep the doctrines and stay true to it? Salvation is a serious matter for sinners, but it is exceedingly more serious for God himself, since it costed the incarnation and humiliation of Christ, who to secure salvation for sinners, was born and that in a low condition, made under the law, suffered the miseries of this cursed life, the wrath of God, the scourge and the cursed death on the cross, was buried, paid, and atoned to grant a secure entrance to heaven not to a sort of ‘waiting room.’ Christ’s honor, the truth of God, and the eternal destiny of lives are at stake thanks to a clearly non-biblical doctrine like purgatory is. May God in his mercy grant clarity around what is the biblical salvation provided and secured by the perfect and sufficient sacrifice of the Lord, salvation that nothing has to do with this human-invented doctrine without any biblical ground, and that gives nothing but false expectations to poor deceived souls.

If the person baptized is repentant and true to his faith in baptism. If one enters baptism as a joke, or as thinking of it as something no less than a free ticket to heaven rather than a true discernment in faith, it won't do.

Catholics are in a bad habit of believing things that are not in the Bible. One of those beliefs is purgatory. Although most Catholics believe purgatory is a Scriptural teaching, one of their own references sources admits that purgatory, is NOT Scriptural. For instance, the New Catholic Encyclopedia says: "The Catholic doctrine of purgatory is based on tradition, not on Sacred Scripture." So, is the doctrine of purgatory is Scriptural teaching? No, AND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ADMITS IT!! So, what are the characters in the video talking about?

@@tafazzi-on-discord Jesus' teachings are found in the Bible. But, concerning purgatory, the New Catholic Encyclopedia says: "The Catholic doctrine of purgatory is based on tradition, not on Sacred Scripture." Now, tell me, since the doctrine of purgatory is not based on Scripture, in what other document did Jesus teach about purgatory? And while we're at it, the Catholic Church teaches that... 1. statues and relics can be worshiped. 2. unmarried priests are bound to celibacy. 3. Mary can be worshiped. 4. the Godhead is triune. 5. "we worship one God in trinity." 6. the Father, Son, and holy spirit make up "One Incomprehensible." 7. Mary was immaculately conceived. @@tafazzi-on-discord After reviewing what Catholic writers have said regarding such texts as 2 Maccabees 12:39-45, Matthew 12:32, and 1 Corinthians 3:10-15, the New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967, Vol. XI, p. 1034) acknowledges: “In the final analysis, the Catholic doctrine on purgatory is based on tradition, not Sacred Scripture." Again, my last question was: "Since the doctrine of purgatory is not based on Scripture, in what other document did Jesus teach about purgatory?" Now, tell me, what evidence do you have that Jesus taught this Second Council of Lyone about purgatory? Also, in what document was it recorded that Jesus taught the church fathers the concept of purgatory. You also said: "The revelation regarding purgatory was articulated by church documents." Tell me, what are these "church documents" and what proof do you have that they contain Jesus' teachings about purgatory? So far, you have yet to answer my question, which was: 'Since the doctrine of purgatory is not based on Scripture, in what other document did Jesus teach about purgatory?" Your simply mentioning "church documents" tells me nothing.

@@39knights I think the question you are trying to ask there (well thats how I understand it) is if Christianity is a manmade religion. No it's not and Roman Catholics didn't introduced it either. It was way in existence before then. The Bible is infallible because it was written by the inspiration of God and hence cannot lie. Jesus Christ is the word of God and we have everything to prove it. But if you say that the Bible has faults, then you are calling Christ a lie. John 1:1 [1]In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Now how can the Bible lie if God is the word? Revelation 19:13 [13]And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. I'm absolutely certain that I'm not in a man-made religion and everything I need to know about Christ and the gospel is in the Bible. Are you practicing man-made doctrines and traditions, 39knights?

@@ElectofGOD80 You are waaaayyy off base there. The fundamental question I am asking you is: who compiled and organized the book you call a bible into the form you use and swear by??? Until the Catholic Church gathered together the bits, pieces, parchments, copies, copies of copies, forgeries, etc. from those in use within the Christian communities: there was no bible as you know it. Today you can go to the Vatican archives and see the over 5000 pieces that had to be sifted through to form the 73 Book Catholic Canon of the Bible. Within those archives you will find the gospel of Peter, the gospel of Mary, the gospel of Thomas, the Book of Enoch, and so much more. You do know that the original gospels and letters of the New Testament were ALL lost mainly through deterioration; and if you want to be a millionaire real quick just find an original copy. So I have never doubted that God inspired the texts we now find in the Catholic Bible; my question to you is who's Authority do you submit to in discerning which of the 5000 plus claimed inspired texts are truly inspired and belong in your bible????? My faith in an infallible bible is based upon my faith in the Infallible Authority of the Catholic Hierarchy in union with the Pope via the Apostolic mandate given them by Jesus to be able to do so. As a protestant you have no such central authority and you have to depend on the roll of a dice whether or not any text you read from your man-made bible has any connection with Jesus and the Apostles. Many times your only true guide is to the extent it mimics the Catholic Bible; relying upon our Authority. Denying or skipping over the history of how the bible was formed is a big part of your downfall and remaining in ignorance. Settle the question of how your bible is supposedly infallible compared to the true bible of the Catholic Faith before you try and attack any of our doctrines based on your 'good'-book.

Since your so-called scriptures is based on an unfounded and un-authorized source you can deny anything by simply cutting out what you don't like or agree with (as Luther and other non-catholic sects have done). If you are going to argue against a Catholic Doctrine then do so with the Catholic Source Material. You have chosen your path in Protestantism so walk it and enjoy the consequences.
