I was raised Protestant, as an adult I am seeking out the truth constantly. When I came to the conclusion the rapture was invented it really bothered me how many Protestant denominations teach a flavor of it. I’ve thus become very uninterested in attending church so now I will be checking out the local RCIA since I have many questions for my Catholic brethren. Protestants ain’t cutting it for me I feel like an outsider currently professing Christ when I know I am to be involved in the church.

I joined a Protestant group before independent Baptist, pastors there in our church have different views with regard to rapture. They even had a misunderstanding which is a turn off. One pastor left the church I attended and the other stayed because of that differences. I know now, the devil loves disunity and confusion. Same with other denominations they have different interpretations with the Bible. After 6years of joining them I came back to our church (Roman Catholic) and now studying more about it.

In our late teens, a friend of mine described how, when her own protestant family would cross State lines to visit relatives of various denominations, her family would attend a different protestant church with the relatives. So, as they went to visit in each different State, it meant attending yet another protestant sect on Sunday! Our group of friends used to joke with her about that; it was kind of crazy. Basically, in the protestant world, you interpret the bible individually, make up your own dogma to please yourself, and start your own church...So there are literally tens of thousands of protestant churches to choose from. Well, she finally came home to the one, true, catholic, and apostolic church-- founded by Jesus Christ in 33 AD. Reading the early church Fathers from the first several centuries (some of whom knew and were taught by Jesus's Apostles) will show you exactly what they believed. Welcome Home!

It's not the restraining of the holy Spirit. You talking about the removal of the police mentioned in 2nd Thessalonians 2? Jesus must reign until he has defeated all of his enemies which are all power dominion and authority and then The last enemy to be defeated is death itself and then he will return the kingdom back to the father so that God may be all in all. Death is defeated before the asteroid which hits the Earth which creates the bottomless pit.

This rapture ideology only really spread to Baptist preachers in the 1970s or after & only spread to laypeople after Kirk Cameron’s movie, which came out in 2001. I don’t understand how so many Christians just readily believe a completely new doctrine just because of an action movie. Why don’t they ask where did this idea come from? Why did it only appear in America in any prominent way in the 1970s with Hal Lindsey’s book & the 2000s with Kirk Cameron’s movies? How do we know some huge secret that Jesus, the apostles, & all Christians were unaware of for most of Christianity. It’s weird in my opinion.

Roman Catholics believe they will be on earth to be present for the tribulations such as Rev 6: 12-17, Rev 8 :6-12, Rev 9:1-21 , etc.

The rapture theory didn't start in America. It started in Scotland in 1830 by a young woman whose name was Margret McDonald. Darby got that rapture "Vision" from her and took it to the Church and spread this false doctrine around and then it built up steam in the Church ever since. Before 1830, there was no "Disappear and fly away" rapture teaching in the Church.

Can anyone tell me if the Rapture isn't true, how is Jesus' return as Scripture says 'imminent' or it can happen at any moment (Mark 13:32). Without the Rapture, we know when Christ's return will be since the 7 year tribulation will happen before his Second Coming. Is this not then a contradiction of Scripture?

"RAPTURE" was used only in Jerome's Latin Vulgate. The meaning of the word "RAPTURE", TO BE TAKEN BY FORCE. Christianity still uses the word rapture to this day, so it was passed down through the generations. Catholics deny anything called a rapture yet Jerome was first to use the lying word. CAUGHT UP IS WHAT IT IS ACTUALLY CALLED. why? Yahweh's Elect will be caught up into spacecraft, which all Christianity denies. This is also proven by scriptures. There is no 7 Year Tribulation Period it is only 3 1/2 years, the last 3 1/2 years of the Papacy's 7 Year Peace plan after WW3. Yahweh Messiah returns during the Armageddon War and that is when his Elect are caught up into spacecraft. THE TRUTH WILL FREE YOU OF SO CALLED CONTRADICTIONS.

The 7-Year Tribulation is coming, why stick around? The Apocalipsis has already began. The tribulation or more accurately the persecution has already began. The first horse man of war was unleahed in first world war, the second horse man in the second world war. The 70s and 80s were the times of famine and sickness. Now we have the fourth horse man war, pestilence and famine. The persecution already began don't you see christians already being persecuted and thrown in jail it will get worst, but it has already began. The great apostasy began with the abomination of desolation in the 80s but it seems you missed it. You seem protestant.

When he comes down from Heaven with a shout we meet him. We don’t get whisked away anywhere no matter how many wish for a fanciful escape. Carlos raised an extremely salient point which he did not take to its logical conclusion. As a life-long Baptist/non-denom before coming to the fullness of the faith, we believed that the 'bodies' of those taken (The saved) would disappear, leaving only the pile of clothes they were wearing. The verse clearly tells us that it's the bodies of the souls 'taken' that are left on earth for the vultures to eat. We know this since the disciples ask Jesus 'where' (referring to those 'taken' ie. where will those taken be taken?) To which Jesus simply replied with the answer that paints a picture of their bodies being eaten by vultures. So, the logical conclusion is, if the saved are the ones taken, (as pre-trib Christians teach) then it stands to reason that their bodies would not be left on earth for the vultures to eat.

Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves.” (Jn. 6:40) “For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.” (Jn. 6:54) “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” According to this parallel, beholding and believing (v.40) are equated with eating and drinking Christ’s flesh (v.54). This is further paralleled by verse 35: (Jn. 6:35) I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. (Jn. 6:54) “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” To “hunger” and “thirst” and parallel to the one who “eats” and “drinks.” But note what Jesus says satisfies our hunger: “He who comes to Me… he who believes in Me.” Jesus isn’t speaking about his literal flesh and blood any more than he is speaking about literal bread (Jn. 6:35) or literal water (Jn. 4:10-14). Indeed, Jesus uses the term sarx for his “body,” rather than the common term sōma (which was the common term used in the Lord’s Supper). Indeed, the “term ‘flesh’ is never used in the NT to refer to the Lord’s Supper.”[4] Hence, this seems “to caution against a sacramental or eucharistic understand of these verses.”[5] This is why Augustine of Hippo wrote regarding this passage: “Believe, and you have eaten.”

Thanks Hillbilly. There are two points I would like to bring to your attention. Sorry I don't have the verse citation in John 6 where Jesus said " The (bread) which I shall give for the life of the world is My (flesh). Add to that that all the ancient extra-biblical Christian writings from circa 70 AD to today, both East and West and both Catholic and Odthodox, all believed and practiced the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. I just don't see how I could ever be convinced that men, beginning with Ulrich Zwingli in circa 1525 forward somehow got something right that Jesus and the church for 2,000 years somehow got wrong. Seems much safer to stay with the true and tired instead of going for novel modern interpretations.

The one who believes in Jesus has eternal life, and has eternal life as a present possession. “Who so eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:54) There is a mystery here because false Christians can certainly partake of the Supper in some fashion, which is why Paul says that their unbelief makes them guilty of the body and blood of (1 Cor. 11:27). You can’t defile something you have no connection with. Just as they have some sort of union with Christ (John 15:1-6O), so also they have some way of trampling the blood of the covenant by which they were sanctified (Heb. 10:29). There is a connection there, but it is not a life-giving connection. But just as there are Christians and then real Christians, so also there is partaking and real partaking. Real partaking is by faith alone, and real partaking is efficacious. Going back to (John 6:54), if someone eats Christ’s body and drinks His blood, what may we then say is the case? We may say that he has, right now, eternal life, and we may say that God has promised to raise him up at the last day. Someone who is not so raised is therefore someone who never had the promise that he would be raised. God breaks all kinds of things-worlds and kingdoms, heads and hearts, princes and presidents, and constellations in the heavens. God breaks the pride of man, but He never breaks a promise. This means that someone who is not so raised is someone who never had that eternal life. But we are convinced of much better things in your case. This meal is offered to you here as an earnest on your final inheritance. If you receive it in true evangelical faith, with a humble heart, and without blowing any smoke at God, then you may marvel at what you are being given. This bread and this wine are eternal life. They are being given to you. They are yours. You may put them in your mouth.

Once I had my tearful Damascus Road encounter with God and He led me into the Catholic Church ICU and healed me of my sexual addiction and taught me how to actually stop practicing sin and I learned about the clarity of the Catholic Church teachings beginning with the DIdache to Irenaeus of Lyon + all the way to Bill Bright's 20th C. 4 spritiual laws, I can now never go back to the confusion I expereinced in Protestantism. It may be okay for you but it was a spiritual disaster for me. It taught me I had to remain a filthy rag where, when the Father looked at me, He only saw Jesus. That was not reasurring to me and it did nothing to fix the problem i.e. I was a broken man inside and I needed infused grace to change me from the inside out. A cut-out Jesus mask and awaiting the rapture was not going to do it for me. I was sick and tired of it all! So, you can continue with your beliefs and, as long as you are sincere, I trust God will honor your understanding of salvation. For me, I now feel like Peter must have felt when Jesus asked him and the others, after He had told them they had to eat His flesh and drink His blood to have eternal life to which Peter answered, because he believed though he did not completely understand how Jesus could give them His flesh and blood, 'To Whom shall we go Lord, for we have come to believe You are the Christ, the Son of the living God'. As far as coming “like a thief in the night”; this is very simple, “ Matthew 24:43-44 [43] But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. [44] Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” In other words Jesus was warning us that there wont be an announcement that He is coming at such and such a time and therefore giving people the opportunity to engage in debauchery in security and then turn to the right path at the last, but rather we must be on the right path and prepared for His coming, and even our death, at any time.

In the expanded Luke 17 telling, Jesus said it would be like the days of Noah and the days of Lot. People swept away in the days of Noah were destroyed by God, but those left behind in the days of Lot were destroyed by God. These two sayings would teach the opposite interpretation of the eagle metaphor, by your interpretation, so they were not meant to unlock the eagle metaphor in this way. While it’s true that Paul did not specify the destination of the Lord and the saints who get received to him in 1 Thess 4, he concluded by saying this happened so we will always be with the Lord. That teaching dovetails with Jesus’ promises in John 14:1-3 to go prepare a place for believers in his Father’s house then come to receive them to himself so that where he is they may be also. Jesus concluded, saying you know where I am going and the way, but because the Rapture mystery would not be revealed until Paul’s ministry, his disciples would not understand that he was going to prepare a place for them in Heaven and would come rapture them to himself and take them there. Now, Jesus’ promise to go prepare a place for believers in his Father’s house then come take them there was actually the same promise that a Jewish bridegroom would make to his bride, and she had the responsibility to prepare to attend the marriage supper that he was also preparing, but the catch was that the timing was determined by the bridegroom’s father, so it could happen on any day or hour he decided. This fits the Matt 25 parable of ten virgins in which some are taken and others who were not prepared were left begin. Jesus told the lesson of that parable in Matt 25:13 where he warned us to “watch” because we don’t know the day or hour the Son of man comes. And he’d just been teaching at length that watching in this context (the Rapture) means being faithful and repenting, including the fact that no one knew the day of hour of this event but his Father. And Jesus repeated that lesson more clearly in Luke 21:34-36 where he talked about repentance then said to watch and pray always to be counted worthy to escape all the things coming and stand before the Son of man, by which he meant escape the great tribulation. Paul never said the Rapture would happen at the end of time. In 1 Cor 15:20-28, he telescoped all human history in order to correct a false teaching that the dead would not being raised. The fact that he left out almost all other details of the future does not prove those things won’t happen, especially details in Revelation. That’s simply what happens when you telescope 7,000 years of history in a few sentences for the purpose of teaching that saints will be resurrected when Jesus appears. Saying otherwise is an argument from silence fallacy.

​@@niketv9078, it’s easy for different people to have different interpretations of the Rapture because it was a hidden mystery before being revealed thru Paul, so it was only spoken about using veiled language (parables, metaphors, etc.) before Paul, and it’s easy to allegorize away the meaning of such things. Unfortunately, the Catholic church adopted Augustine’s allegorical method of Bible interpretation, and that’s where their teachings came from that say the church is “spiritual Israel” and the Millennium is now because their leader is ruling the world for him until the end of time. But it is possible to discover a consistent sequence of many events, if one believes that it exists and that God wants the church to understand it.

1st Thes. 4:13 thru 18 is the Rapture and it includes with it a resurrection. Dead in Christ rise 1st from the grave and this is a resurrection for them plus we who are believers who are alive will get our bodies changed to immortal bodies. The un-believers are left behind here to be in the Tribulation period. Live people are not resurrected here as only dead people can be resurrected. 1st Thes 4:13 does not give us by itself a pre-trib rapture but it does give us a rapture resurrection. Other verses in Scripture support a pre -trib time line. One of the strongest reasons for pre-trib is the iminent return taught and believed by the early church. "To Be Left Behind" implies that that person was never truly saved to begin with, since the 7-year Tribulation has to do with the Wrath of the Son (Rev 6: 16) and also the Wrath of the Father (Rev 19:15), and God has not appointed Wrath for those who are His (1 Thess 5:9). Will Christ experience the tribulation too? because it says on 1 thess 4:13-18 and John 14:2-3 that the righteous will be with Christ wherever he is.
