Also, it seems to me that Clement was the first o se the term "energy", which will be important for Gregory Palamas.

Interesting. Then it's worth noting that while Clement once had a feast on the Catholic liturgical calendar (though never formally canonized), he was later removed due to doctrinal concerns (I don't know if energy was among them).

@@CatholicCulturePod I am not absolutely sure he was the first, as I didn't read all of the Fathers, but that passage, perhaps in the Pedagogus or in the Stromata, stroke me.

St. Clement of Alexandria “The blessed Peter, the chosen, the preeminent, the first among the disciples, for whom alone with himself the Savior paid the tribute [Matt. 17:27], quickly grasped and understood their meaning. And what does he say? ‘Behold, we have left all and have followed you’ [Matt. 19:27; Mark 10:28]” (Who Is the Rich Man That Is Saved? 21:3-5 [A.D. 200]).

That's a great read. We are hoping to record an audiobook of it eventually.

With all the respect to you, but the introduction icon of this video is not the image of st Clement of Alexandria, but of st Clement of Ohrid, one of the 7 main students of ss Cyril and Methodius.

Thanks very much for pointing that out - I will remove the thumbnail when I get a chance.

now I am sorry that the image of the patron saint of our church (the archbishopy of Ohrid) will be removed 🙁, but my intentions were honest.
