I lost my dad to complications from Covid. His passing was very sudden and I was just in so much shock. I got my dark humor trait from him. So you bet my sisters and I used comedy as a coping mechanism and still do til this day. Thank you for gifting us this beautiful song ❤️

I'm sorry for your loss. My dad died when I was 18 of an aneurysm and his dad died when he was 5 from bowl cancer. We are all ok in time but we never truly lose that feeling. We just learn to live with it and get on with it.

Lyrics (don’t know if there right) I got a lot from my mother, her eyes and her sense of humor so when she told me Dad had cancer, I asked how bigs the tumor cause insurance gives out more money. You can finally buy that new car sure you’re gonna lose your husband, but you can kiss strangers at the bar oh, then I cried such a poorly timed punchline. I keep using comedy when no one thinks it’s funny to make light of all the tragedy. Of things I’m scared to stomach cause what a cruel reality if this song outlives my dad and there’s no joke I can make to bring him back I tell him that he’s getting skinny just had to go and steal my thunder as the sick one in the family im the daughter with an eating disorder who won’t have him at my wedding threw a wrench in all my plans to use my special day as leverage and force him into a dance I keep using comedy when no one takes it funny to make a light of all the tragedy, the things I’m scared to stomach cause what a cruel, reality if this song outlives my dad and there’s no joke. I can make to bring him back. My grandfather died from health complications due to alcoholism right before Christmas in 2016. He was a professional biologist, a polymath, and a genius, with a quick dry wit on him that had not dulled with age. We shared many interests. He was a goldmine of information and anecdotes if you could catch him semi-sober. The official cause of death was OCPD, but we all knew he would have still been kicking if he hadn't had vodka for breakfast nearly every day. At the funeral, an intrusive thoughts popped into my head and I had to step out to start laughing and welling up with tears. "We should have gotten a discount. There's no way the coroner had to use as much ethyl alcohol this time. Grandad did half the work for him." And... "I hope all those specimens he collected, preserved, and showed off prepared him to be collected, preserved, and showed off."
