"Here they are counting money, laughing."
SAN DIEGO - An outraged viewer contacted Team 10 after she watched a pregnant woman and a boy beg for money in a shopping center and then drive away in a Mercedes Benz.
Melissa Smith took pictures of the beggar, the boy and the Benz.
Smith said she saw the pregnant panhandler and the boy, who might have been the woman's son, at Eastlake Village Center every weekend for two months. She said the woman's husband or boyfriend would join them on the weekends.

DISGUSTING IS THE RIGHT WORD AND HERE IS WHY. This is tolerated all through out Europe. On the streets of every tourist town. It is completely unethical. Children belong in school This is NOT ABOUT CULTURE! When you see this scam in your town? Call CPS and 911. Don't ever let anyone tell you this is "culture". Children can be and ARE trafficked in this way. It does not matter if that is the child's mother. SHE IS USING HER CHILD....because the child is NOT IN SCHOOL! This is an INTERNATIONAL SCAM. It deprives children of their education and their future and should be illegal in all 50 states! THIS SCAM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN AMERICA PERIOD!

Children life what they learn. Why do you think so many ghetto people are living the same way their parent have? They teach their kids to scan the system and how to take advantage of it. The first step is having kids. That will ensure the government feels bad for you. The scammers know the government will not let the kid starve. Then do not get married. Lie about who lives in the household so it makes you look more dependent. Get a job that barely pays the bills. That will ensure a food stamp card, section 8, free cell phone, reduced cable bill, free heat, free water, free electric. That way, you will be making more in collections then the average middle class person. Do less, get more!

She is from Romania most likely. This is almost certainly an international begging syndicate scam based out of Romania or another part of Eastern Europe. CPS will not touch these people's kids. This type of begging scam is tolerated through out Europe in tourist capitals.... But because it's "new" to the South West and Western parts of of America people are falling for it. No normal American would USE a child to beg. Help the needy in your community....if you can. These people are human trafficking crooks. All children deserve to fulfill their dreams...not to be used to make their LAZY PAPA rich.

When I lived in Atlanta, there was a well-dressed businesswoman who would approach strangers saying she’d lost her purse (with money, car keys and cell phone inside), and needed money to get a cab. People grew suspicious as she had been spotted in the downtown area over a period of weeks. Turned out to be her daily hustle! A radio talk show host announced this on his show and she disappeared soon after being called out. People who had given her money started calling in and some of them reported giving her as much as $20.

I do not give to the homeless for this very reason. I grew up in a rough environment and had homeless friends. They all would panhandle just get drunk and do drugs every day and literally some of them said they prefer being homeless cause people just give them money anyway and they don’t have to work. A lot of them were aggressive. It’s not a lifestyle to condone to. So I give to those who perform music, street artists and entertainment, etc. who are trying to work for it. To each their own 🤷‍♀️ not all homeless are like that and it does feel good to lend a helping hand

I worked at Little Caesars late last year and this lady was 10 cents short and my manager would not help her. The lady was homeless. Asked me for 10 cents and when she saw my hat she looked like she was worried I would deny her the money. Instead I went inside and bought her a pizza. Let her keep what little money she had while still getting a decent meal.

I'm working a temp job and struggling. I decided to buy a coworker a car battery as she seemed to need help more than my struggles. The battery was 2x what i expected but i followed through. Ten minutes after being home, I got an incredible job offer! God is good. More to it as I reflect on the journey and helping others when it hurts unselfishly.

You cannot judge a book by its cover though. Now just what if this woman was married to a ball player making millions then he becomes injured and loses everything, he then leaves her in a rented expensive tower apartment. She then is forced to leave but cannot get normal assistance because of their former income status. All she has is a car she owns outright so she desperately resorts to ask for help in an attempt to get enough money to rent a regular apartment and try to recover. There are 9 million ways to sunday of scenarios that can defend what she is doing, so I would not jump to conclusions based on appearances.

In Long Beach theres an apartment complex that a lady lives in with her 4 kids. And everyday like clockwork she opens the door and they all run out and start asking people for bus money. She stands on the corner looking out at them to make sure they ask everyone they see for a dollar "for the bus" after a while they collect what they got and run back home. Its freaking sick. I worked at the shop across the street and the same kids came to me every day asking for bus money but i knew it was never for that.

I live in a neighborhood with almost no homeless people at all, so when I saw a man holding a sign saying he was "very hungry and diabetic" i had to go up and ask him if he wanted me to buy him some food, but he said no thank you I'm actually full i just ate, and i was wondering why he would hold that sign saying that if he isn't even hungry, he probably just wanted to get money from people... It's sad that people are too lazy to find a job, and that they would rather just stand outside begging for money instead of trying to better themselves, we should help them find jobs instead of only food and money, so they can help support themselves.

I once pulled over for a lady in dead of winter who look cold and said she just needed to get to a gas station. Drove her there but she refused to get out of my car asking for money. At the time I had no cash and hardly enough money to pay my bills. Lady had the audacity to ask me to pull cash from the atm since she saw some of my slips in my car. Luckily there was a police car at that gas station and the lady saw me looking at the police car and got out of my car. I was 19 or 20 years old at the time and I was taught kindness and to help those that are struggling or less fortunate but since that encountered I don't trust these people anymore. When I see them on the streets and they're young, capable of working, seeking government assistance, pregnant, in a wheelchair, with kids or whatever 9 out of 10 times i look the other way. I still give a few dollars here and there or buy someone a drink regardless if its a beer or Gatorade when they ask. At least they're being honest in what they want and again its that kindness. I hate that the encountered shape me into not trusting to give enough anymore but we live and we learn. Be careful out tjere folks

Just because they have a nice car doesn’t mean anything. They could have had a great job and paid cash for the car but lost that job. They could have made a bad investment and they lost everything but the car. You never know.

I am retired military and I am no where near well off but I make enough and I am pretty low key though. Not a real "people person" to be honest but I don't let that get in the way of doing good works on behalf of the Lord and my fellow humans as well. When I see a panhandler if I am in a hurry I will drop them at least $10 or half of what I got if I have less on me in cash. If I see them near a super market I ask them if they need anything. They usually say just a few green backs. I say I got that too, what can I get you. I don't get carried away going on a shopping spree and shit like that but I will hook them up with food, a pack of smokes, etc and a wad of cash. People say this and that about what they will and won't do with the money. Well it is none of my business or yours what they do with the money period. Its a "gift" and once it leaves my hand into theirs its up to them what they do with it whether it is drugs, booze or a burrito with a pepsi. Its none of my business period. It is like if your employer cuts you your paycheck and him saying this and that on "responsible use and spending of said monies" and if you do not listen he will withhold your pay check. F that and f him you know. Who does he think he is. See what I mean here. Same as you or I when we drop a donation on someone. Give them some money and a smile and go about your business. People just don't understand the purpose and point of a "gift" these days and what makes it so special as to how it makes one feel after you give it without a thought afterwords of the why's and how's. People are really missing out once they leave all that bs alone and just give because it feels so dang good when you do it for no reason in particular. It isn't all about you if your doing it for the right reasons. Also I always try chat for a bit if I have some time. In these instances I usually have to share people's walking by distain as well from them even though I am clearly not homeless by just the way I dress alone. F them I say to myself. Anyway that chat too is nice for both of us because I have had some of the most stimulating conversations with the homeless at times. Also just how humble and truly grateful some of them really are for both the blessing gift and chat that just takes a mere few minutes of my lifetime to share with them. Its the act but that is just me though Eric and you seem to get it too. P.s. it always made me sad and a little angry too at times that people will walk indifferently by someone that could just use a few bucks (sometimes even change) on their way to spend near $20 on a "single" cup of iced super double shot mocha with lactose free skim milk then just give a dollar or two to someone that could use it for no matter what the reason. I could only imagine what it must feel like to be there. The utter shame and desperation to have to sit there all day with the looks and comments under people breaths. I personally couldn't do it yet I have never been in that situation, have you? You never know someones situation until you "know" someones situation. Just saying.
