For those of us who watch your channel, who are traveling to the gulf this winter…could you consider doing a video on the basics of saltwater fishing from shore, pier and channel fishing, how the rods/reels are different and if there is a rod/reel that can be used in both freshwater and salt?also your suggestions for the basics? What we need for a month of winter fishing? Thanks for considering and blessed Christmas to you and your family!❤ love your channel!

Brant you wanna talk about pier fishing, when I was a teenager my friends and I were always about going to the Fort Desoto Park Piers in Clearwater, FL. They had a half mile and a full mile piers and we would go out there all night. We would catch everything from snapper, to blacktip, to hammerhead, bull shark, to barracuda, to huge bull reds, black drum, Goliath Grouper (Jewfish), cobia, I actually caught a sea crab once, and even a large sea turtle. We even caught a Wahoo out there once. It was an almost hour and a half drive, but we always had fun. We would throw an 8' castnet and catch greenbacks and shrimp.

I've had success with whiting using a 1/8 oz white jig with a piece of shrimp when they get picky like that. I've seen earthworms work when nothing else will I kid you not.

Also I remember back when I first started fishing in Florida and I was around 11 or 12, and the only place that I had close by to get fishing gear was Walmart. I had an Ugly Stik with a Quantum Snapshot 2500 reel, and maybe 15 lb mono (this was back in 1995 or so). I was buying my fishing gear from my allowance and mowing a lawn here and there. My parents took us down to Key West back in 1995 or so and we stayed at the hotel at 0 Duval St...I went out on the restaurant next to the hotel that had signs that said "no fishing" and I caught these massive jack cravelle and some huge red snapper on that same rig. They obviously kicked me out, but I was fishing off of the boardwalk down there next to all of the charter boats and I caught massive red snapper and a couple of tarpon and one of the captains offered me a job. He gave me a shot of 190 proof rum (didn't tell me what it was) and that's something that I'll never forget. We went to the Hog's Breath Saloon and he gave me a beer and told me to keep a low profile...😂😂😂 I'm 41 now, but it's an experience that I could never forget. Edit: obviously the tarpon that I caught weren't very big. 15 lb mono can only get you so far...😂😂😂

Take the spool off, something is blocking the anti reverse gear from engaging. Usually a simple fix. You probably know that already.
