Honestly Shana, for a piece painted whilst you were feeling so horrible, it is beautiful. I have the 24 Mondeluz pencils too, and have liked playing with them to try to become more used to the idea of watercolour pencils before I used my Faber Castel, 24 set and my 20 set of Museum Aquarelle - it’s a set before they started curating them, which I find frustrating. Keep well as we head into the colder weather once more. Autumn has arrived along with a touch of winter here in the Highlands of Scotland. Brrr… 🥰🎨👩🏻🎨🖌️

Thank you so much, Anita! These are definitely great starter pencils while you are getting used to the medium! Sounds like it's starting to get chilly there! I bet it's beautiful, though! I hope you stay warm and healthy as well!

Yeah, the cold symptoms themselves weren't so bad, but they dragged on, and the exhaustion was out of this world! I tested negative for Covid, but I still think it's a possibility because of the way it dragged on. I am still getting tired spells, and it's been like a month since I came down with it.

Hi Shana, thank you for your review and for bringing this brand under my radar. And turns out this koh i noor 76-color set is sold for USD20 here and available open stock. That's great value for money! And I noticed they have the progresso aquarelle line as well. I wonder how these two lines compare.
@CautionArtistatPlay2 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'm happy they are readily available where you are, and for all good price! I have some of their regular Progresso colored pencils, and they feel quite comparable to their Polycolors. I feel like they use the same core, just without the wooden casing. Don't quote me on that, though, lol. I don't remember if I have tried the Aquarelle Progresso. I don't currently own any. I would think it would be a similar situation, though! I love the feel of the Progresso pencils. They are nice in the hand!

I totally hear your chickens saying hello 😀 I bought that palette after your suggestion an other time and I'm still to use it, but I definitely will. I love using various methods with my Inktense. I used to just yes palette sheets and scribble the pencil on it and then pick it up with water. Your husband had a good eye with this photo 🙂

Haha! We have like 5 roosters right now because we haven't been able to rehome them yet. They love to have crowing competitions. It makes it nearly impossible to have a voice-over without at least one of them making themselves known! Lol. I'm glad you have been enjoying the techniques I use! I hope you enjoy the palette when you get the chance to use it! The palette sheets are a great idea, too! Yes, he did a great job with that reference photo. He was so excited to send it to me. As soon as I saw it, I just knew I was going to have to draw it! 🥰

Although I haven't used Mondulez, I have used Koh-i-Noor's woodless colored pencils, both WC and not, although they are not my primary pencil. What I really like about the ones I've used, though, is that their colors have just a slight touch of earthiness, and I like that.
@CautionArtistatPlay3 ай бұрын
Their woodless pencils are beautiful, I have some of their regular woodless colored pencils, they are fun to work with, and feel nice in the hand! I like having an earthy look to my colors, too, since I do a lot of art inspired by nature.

I say prefer this brand to Derwent Inktense and believe they are less prone to being fugitive. My set of 36 came in a cardboard box, also with a brush and very extremely good value. I do not mind at all a slightly grainy look as I like to layer them over graphite drawings, so a different technique to yours with a very different look. Your work is fantastic by the way, love it! I do think these pencils are very good and stand up to a lot of the much more expensive competitors. Here in Europe they are probably much easier to get. The cheaper version like mine does not have the coloured ends, other than that and the box they are identical. It’s all about the talent really, not the livery of the tools. Koh-I-boor is such an old established brand, well trusted for all sorts of art and stationery needs.
@CautionArtistatPlay3 ай бұрын
Thank you!! These are awesome pencils and a great value! I wish they were easier to come by here. I recently did a comparison video with the Mondeluz, Inktense, Derwent Watercolor, Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer, Caran d'Ache Supracolor and Museum Aquarell pencils. I was surprised to see how well these held up against the more expensive brands. That being said, when comparing lightfast ratings, the Inktense has less fugitive colors and more excellent rated colors than these do. The Inktense pencils actually have really good lightfast ratings, despite their reputation. They were the third most lightfast line among the brands I compared, just behind the Albrecht Durer and the Museum Aquarelle. However, the Modeluz line does have less fugitive colors than the regular Derwent Watercolor pencils. They have the same amount of colors rated excellent, though. I enjoy working with these more than I do the Derwent Watercolor pencils, but the Inktense still remain a top favorite of mine. It all really comes down to personal preference. Sorry for that tangent, I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to this stuff! Lol Thank you so much for watching, I'm glad that you enjoy working with the Mondeluz. They really are great, especially for their price!

i have a hard time finding open stock pencils here, can get some derwent brands, polychromos, but to get any other brands i prob have to go to Edinburgh to get them and thats too far away for pencils lol
@CautionArtistatPlay3 ай бұрын
@fuzzydragons, oh darn, that's tough! I'm thankful that most of the brands I use are readily available, at least in the stores I order from online. We don't have a ton of fine art supply stores local to where I live, just a few big box craft stores. They don't carry a lot of the artist grade brands, though.
@fuzzydragons3 ай бұрын
we had a great art store in the closest city but it closed down not too long after hobbycraft opened :( but ordering online is cheaper most of the time now anyway if i need anything :)
@CautionArtistatPlay3 ай бұрын
@fuzzydragons bummer that they closed down! Yeah, online does tend to be cheaper than in store, especially if it's a smaller shop. Though, it's nice to support local if you have something local and can afford it, lol.

How on earth do you know what color to paint each segment and how to shade it? I am amazed. It’s like you’re painting by number on a very detailed drawing you drew yourself.
@CautionArtistatPlay3 ай бұрын
Thank you! The color choices and mixes come from years of trial and error working with color. However, using a color picking tool can help, too. Most photo editing programs have one. It's an eye dropper tool that allows you to click on a part of your reference photo, and it will show what color you are looking at. I will use that on occasion when I have been staring at my own piece for too long. It helps to assure me that I'm on the right track with what I am mixing. A color picking tool can also help you to train your eye to see what's really there. Most of my mixes are done intuitively, after years of training my eye to really look at my reference, but it's always good to have a tool to help when you get stumped! Thank you for watching! 🥰
