Sid Morris I’ve never seen the Weakest Link and it’s still an amusing sketch. It’s probably better with background info, but a well-written skit usually doesn’t need full context to be enjoyed.
@jonathanbeesley91036 жыл бұрын
It would just be completely different. Almost every line and every detail was a direct take on something from The Weakest Link. You could still enjoy it if you haven't seen the show, but you'd necessarily be enjoying it for quite different reasons.

For anyone who didn't watch 2000s British TV, this is pretty much exactly how The Weakest Link went, but with more backstabbing between the contestants
@CLove5112 жыл бұрын
What a weird show that was. "Let's make contestants feel like garbage so the audience feels better about themselves for knowing a few basic trivia facts under no pressure." I'll take the happy barely-dodging-sexual-harassment-charges game shows from the 70s and 80s over that show, at least they made it seem like everyone was having a good time.

VICEGIRLS Really!?!? I think those Sir Digby skits are some of the cleverest and most unique comedy skits I've ever seen. Maybe to get the humor in it you have to be at least vaguely familiar with the sort of old-timey serials they're parodying, though. "IN A SOCIETY WHOSE TOOTHY FAKE SMILE IS RAVAGED BY THE PLAQUE OF DEBT AND THE VODKA BURP OF SUB-PRIME MORTGAGES, WHO WILL FLOSS INTO THE DARKEST CAVITIES OF OUR DESPAIR AND SEE IF THERE ARE ANY GOLD FILLINGS YOU CAN SWAP FOR A CAN OF PEPPERMINT-FLAVORED ANTIFREEZE? YES, IT'S THE SURPRISING ADVENTURES OF ME, SIR DIGBY CHICKEN CAESAR."

This is spot-on. He's spoofing Anne Robinson, of course. Like all truly stupid people, she has a problem with the Welsh, as she discussed on 'Room 101'. Her reason was that although we're (at least) as poor as the English, we tend to wear nice clothes, maintain some standards and conduct ourselves with a certain amount of dignity. Which is annoying, apparently. Paul Merton - God bless him - took our side :) She definitely isn't too bright, either...

Wasn't that why Anne Robinson got so bitter, that nobody watched her shows? She complains that TV is ageist, yet she never seems to cop on to the fact that people just don't want to watch miserable witches giving out to people while she has the answers right in front of her.
