CB750 Exhaust Sound 4 into 1 Delkevic vs 4 into 2 Shorty - Honda K0 | Part 33
In this video, I compare CB750 exhaust sounds between my previous 4 into 2 shorty exhaust and my new Delkevic 4 into 1 exhaust system for the Honda CB750 k0 project bike.

The Delkevic CB750 exhaust sounds a bit higher-pitched like a more modern sports bike or superbike even. I think this has a really nice and refined exhaust sound for the CB750 which is hard not to enjoy.
The exhaust tone is quite sophisticated with the Delkevic system indeed and compared to the 4-to-2 short exhaust system I've replaced with it, it's got exceptional builds quality and welds too.
The 4-into-2 exhaust has very little in the way of silencing or muffling. With the short length of this exhaust, the bike is very loud. It also seems to have quite a large diameter pipe and the sound is very deep and grumbly. Quite unrefined, but not horrible.
The older exhaust sound is possibly more in keeping with the classic bike style, and the pops and bangs on overrun when you close the throttle can be quite entertaining.
Alas, I think I prefer the Megaphone Delkevic 4-to-1 exhaust sound on this Honda CB750.

I bought a standard 4 into 2 exhaust in good used condition for my z650 kawasaki in 2005 off ebay for $29 Australian dollars, postage from USA $140, still cheap, and they make the bike look stock standard. No chance nowadays.

The times they are a changing. I still think about the Triton project I bought from an ad in the Manchester Evening News for £90 back in '86, thought I did well selling it for around £400 when I moved a year or so later. Big regrets!!!

Hi Max, sadly I don't :( it came on this bike when I got it, and there are absolutely no markings on it at all. I've tried to figure it out myself to no avail. Its a mystery

I much prefer the deeper tone of the delkevic,saying that on a longer run, the delkevic would make a long ride more enjoyable. When I 1st bought my gt750, it was fitted with a standard exhaust, but the previous owner had fitted k&n filters, after a 260 mile round trip to friends house, it really got on my nerves, so I refitted the standard air box & bike was brilliant to ride after that

Hi Pat, I'm loving these Delkevic systems for these CB750's they have a great sound. I think I'd love to have had the standard exhausts for this particular bike even more though as it ended up being such a tidy example. That's interesting about the K&N filters. I'd have assumed they gave a better induction sound but seems that might not be the case!

@@SPANNERRASH on the kettle you have 3 40mm carbs it’s really loud, was bad enough that my ears were ringing,there wasn’t any performance gain either, plus it ran better with the standard air box

There is no comparison the 4 into 1 was music to my ears. I had a CB 650 1979 model bought it in 1981 stuck a set of free flows, extractors, 4 into 1's lovely set of pumps all the same length, chrome. Increased power below about 7000 rpm by a really noticeable amount. Quick 650's for the day those Honda's last of the single over head cam engines a real pocket rocket. Quicker than the 650 Suzuki with double over head cams. Not that I'm condoning this sort of behavior, but as a young man I lived in Canterbury New Zealand in the country down a Along straight road. One of the prevailing winds would blow straight down it, you could get up to 40 or 50 miles an hour sometimes and it felt like there was no wind it was blowing that hard. I thought how fast will this Honda go with one of these winds behind me? Answer... it red lined at 9500 rpm. It wound past that and out above the red which stopped at about 10500 rpm must have been above 11000 rpm. The speedo finished at 200 k's an hour at wound well past that and it was still accelerating when I thought I think that'll do. The lamp posts are starting to pass very quickly at that speed.

@@SPANNERRASH Yea I did a lot of miles on that bike around the south island over on the ferry to north island a couple of times. Christchurch to picton in 3and bit hours that normally takes couple of hours longer that that. I was grinning alot on that bike. At 61 i'm going to start looking for another bike. But you know I think i'll get a early 80's or 70's Triumph Bonneville lots of them still in NZ plenty of parts. Cheap registration here if it's over 40 years old. I dont need to go fast know days. Dont want a new Triumph even if they are good.

If you look at our other CB K series videos, you will see I have put basically the same exhaust on my other one. It is a 76 engine in a 78 frame. So it will fit a K4 perfectly, not withstanding you sometimes have to adjust the bracket where it connects to the pillion footrest. I love the Delkevic, it makes a lovely sound, and I think it suits the look of my bikes.

@@SPANNERRASH Thanks for your reply. I dropped the old pipes after watching your vid. they were about 60 lbs in total. Im goging to clean them up and see what Ebay can do with them. The new ones are 10 lbs. I observed that cylinders 1 and 4 are on the top of the collector and 2 and 3 on the bottom. When I get mine for the DOHC inn the next few days, I'll make a loose assembly of the pipes and collector, that i assume I can slip/wiggle into place. what I notice was the muffler assembly pastes ( thanks) so I ordered that too from Amazon - I loved the deep loud sound of my pipes after having pulled the baffles, and hope the new header solution can meet that expectation with its baffle options. I can sett it to super quiet when having to get an inspection, and Ill see how loud loud is otherwise since I can set it with a parital baffling - Ill let you know How I made out - kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3zHdoBrbqqFedk Best Regards - Orion -

@@ClassicRider I never really thought about the weight saving, but that is a great bonus. The sound it makes as standard is great for me. I haven't explored removing the baffle, but I do believe they can be taken out. You may have to consider changing the jets though as there will be less back pressure. Let us know how you go on.

This is a SOHC, they were all SOHC up until near the very end of the seventies. This one was made in April 1970.

The baffles are still in. TBH I haven't tried it without, and I am not sure how easy/hard they would be to remove. But once the weather improves I will take a look.

From what Ive read it seems a relatively straight forward process to remove, that said, I haven’t ordered my Delkevic yet so you would have a better idea than me. 👍🏼
