Skillet's John Cooper Was Once Told to 'Disassociate from Christianity' - His Response Is Beautiful

Skillet frontman John Cooper recently spoke with CBN News and discussed a 2011 conversation he had with a well-meaning influencer in the music industry who advised him that the best way to help advance Christianity was to stop talking about Christianity. The logic was simple - you won't get as big, rich or famous if you keep talking about Jesus. So, keep quiet now - and later you'll be able to do so much good.
Cooper describes this as a "definitive point" in his life and career, where after prayer it became clear exactly what God wanted him to do.

i have had the honor and privilege to meet John multiple times !!. the undignified love that he has for Jesus is something I don’t see in the Christian music industry now from other artist. that one of the many things I respect and look up to John about !!. now Lauren Daigle I’m not surprised she fell away. i think it’s ridiculous that K Love and all those stations still play her . I am a huge pan head and most of my favorite songs are faith based like "brave", "lions", "anchor", and the list can go on. The fact that they are a Christian band not afraid to talk about Jesus is what turned me on to them. I am glad that God heard John "whispering in the dark"!

My question is, how is it God's will to make John Cooper a rockstar whether he talks about Jesus or not. Plenty of secualr artists talk about Jesus, so just talking about God proves nothing. The bible makes it clear that even demons believe in the Holy one. That being said, I am a real disciple, and personally, we don't have any choice of where we go in life. It's all God. I had to personally give up my ambition of being a musician and instead picked up my cross and now suffer the burdens of my father, who has bed ridden for a practical year. NEVER have I once heard true Christ say pursue fame. NEVER. In fact, opposite. On top of that if I live in the flesh slightly I am attacked all day 24/7 365 days of the week. So this goes out to my brother and sister hood in Christ, if your discouraged at all right now, I want you to know it is far better to suffer for His glory than it is to become some global rock star. Anyways, this comes from someone who has suffered much for Christ's sake,perhaps God does bless some like this. Thanks for listening.
