I smoked heavily for 44 years. About 750,000 cigarettes. I thought I could never stop, but I did. I quit in 2017, and I'm doing well. Still doing a young man's work. I feel much better. If I could do it, then anyone can do it. It feels so good to be free.

@ratman8558 3 жыл бұрын
@@susanheather7299In 2017 I reached a point where I was struggling for every breath, so I went to my doctor The nurse who checked my vitals was shocked to see that my blood oxygen was at 70%. When it's below 88% you're supposed to be on Oxygen. I was in extreme danger at that time. Stroke. Heart attack. My doctor sent me straight to the hospital by ambulance. I had walked in to the clinic and was wheeled out on a gurney. I thought I was terminal. Thought I had only a few months to live. The doctor who looked at my lung scan told me that it was very bad. He said most of the damage is permanent. He told me that I'd be dead by 2019 if I continued to smoke. The doctor also told me that I could have significant healing and that I can live a long time if I quit smoking. Right then, I made up my mind that I was never going to smoke again, no matter how hard it was to stop. I said I would endure the cravings and withdraws no matter what. I knew I had won right then and there. My mindset was and is.....I'm going to do this no matter how hard it is and nothing is going to stop me. It's that mindset that set me free. When I got out of the hospital I got a big bag of sugar free hard candy to replace the cigarettes. It really helps. I'm still using the candy. My blood O2 is up to 93%, which is good for someone with emphysema. My cardio isn't great, but I'm 61 years old and still doing a young man's work. I still do a lot of heavy lifting , pushing, pulling and walking. I work 60 hours a week and during the summer, I have to work 12 hour shifts in 130 degree heat. My quality of life is good. I feel so much better. The good news is that it really does get easier with time. After 3 weeks of not smoking, that nervous , anxious feeling started to fade. I sit next to my wife on our front porch when she smokes and it doesn't bother me. It feels so good to be free. If you think you can't stop smoking you're wrong.

@@moe5427 It won't matter if you are determined. It's the mindset that I spoke of that matters. However, if you think that people smoking around you will make things difficult then you may want to stay away from them as much as possible. Try using sugar free hard candy like I did. Do whatever you have to do. Most people would probably say that being around people who are smoking will make it harder for you. In my case it didn't matter to me what anyone else was doing. I had made up my mind that I would endure cravings and withdrawal no matter how bad it felt. It really does get easier after a few weeks, Again....If you want it, then nothing can stop you from succeeding. We all have the power to stop smoking. It's all in your mind.

I 100% agree that if I were to change my desire or need to smoke. That I no longer desire, or need to smoke that quitting will be easy. Problem is how? How do I change that mindset? Do you ever feel you know how to re program your brain, but it feels like nothing sticks? I can only think this. I cannot change the mindset because I need to change these things - How I feel about smoking - How it makes me feel - belief and ideas on smoking such as popularity, triggers, etc - for me the biggest thing is stress. I feel everyday stress keeps me holding on to it as it helps me manage stress. I need ideas. Im seeking information, tools and help that will aid me in changing my beliefs, ideas, and how I feel about smoking. Stress today is hard to escape from. I know in time I will understand and re program my brain from society and smoking lifestyle to a clean lifestyle and being a non smoker.

i started smoking at age 13 and i stopped smoking many times through the years, but at age 49 was the complete stopping point for me,,, In each Cigarette contains 8 milligrams of nicotine. i started using the gum which has 4 milligrams per piece, after my last cigarette in my pack i waited until i started to feel withdrawal and then i chewed a piece of nicotine gum and i did not buy another pack of cigarettes, i was smoking 40 cigarettes a day which was 320 milligrams of nicotine a day and the chemicals from the smoke (tar etc..), i found that about 10 to 15 pieces of gum a day kept me from hurting too bad and not wanting to hurt others around me lol, the hard part for me was the what to do with my hands, i carried 2 large marbles in my pocket, i reduced the amount of nicotine by 260 milligrams a day and all the chemicals of smoke , some days i chewed as many as 20 pieces of gum but still that was a whole lot better than the cigarettes, i also tried to avoid smokers when possible, i also got creative = when i felt an urge; i brushed my teeth or i cleaned something in my house , like cleaning out a closet, after a period of time i would forget to bring my nicotine gum with me and my marbles, sometimes i switched from nicotine gum to regular sugarless gum, ,,,, but if you do smoke a cigarette in this process forgive yourself , enjoy that cigarette and start again the next day, guilt is what prevents smokers from being nonsmokers many times,

@@nickmatthews155 I am 26 now and I started when I was 11-12. So not quite as long as you. I understand the struggle though. I have so much against my teeth. I smoke, I bit my nails most my life (just quit a few months ago), drink way too much caffeine (sodas and coffee), I also grind my teeth at nighttime... aside from that my parents never could afford for me to get my teeth straightening and to where they weren’t so crowded so having them so crammed hasn’t helped the decay. Now I’m trying to get it all fixed and I’m looking at some ridiculous stuff to do! I need crowns placed to be more aesthetic for my front teeth but it’s too crowded to look right. I’m hoping invisilign alone can fix it but if not then maybe I’ll need adult arch expansion. That’s just so I can get crowns that I need to fix my smile mostly. But I don’t think they will do just one arch because they want to maintain your bite. I also have out of line teeth at the bottom as well. I already had bad teeth before but I ruined them. Oh and on top of it I took terrible care of my teeth growing up because I was too busy staying away from home and not worrying about making sure I had anything with me. I support you the day you quit! I tried making some videos here and posting talking about quitting and such but I ended up caving so I deleted all my videos. I’ll try again but it’s better when people are there to run to at a weak moment and In my physical life I don’t have much of that..... considering everyone around me smokes. 😩 I was hoping I’d get more feedback from KZbin to encourage me to keep going!

I was tried of being broke sometimes. Mind over matter. But you have to get there. Sorry if your rich and you can smoke all the time. But maybe u want that newer car, or that trip or fill all that money to help a church or orphanage. Dont let them take your money. For me i was in a hard situation a few years ago. I said ILl eat or quit... BUt also I made the choice because im one stuborn guy from Detroit !!! I dont live there any more. But let me tell you if you have a strong hard head like me. YOu tell your self IM gana stop giving these bastards my money!!! drink water every time u need a smoke and do ten push ups. First day is hard, than week, if u get past that first week your home free, than that month, and year!!! The next hard thing is quit when u drink, I chewed gum ,toothpic, and hold a pen in my hand to.

Biggest mistake I ever made, was to quit smoking. I got fat. I gained 140 pounds. I struggled with diets and exercise but I could not stop the weight from coming on. I went from a slim 135 pounds all the way up to a pot belly 275. I got kicked out of the navy for being obese and lost my retirement. I developed severe sleep apnea and became a borderline diabetic. I had to give 5 trash bags stuffed full of my favorite clothes, many were Christmas and birthday gifts from my family, to charity I had to give up running, water skiing, scuba diving and riding my bike, because I got too fat. Had I known I was going to get fat like this, you best believe, I'd have never quit smoking. I'd rather have cancer or emphysema any day, than to have to spend the rest of my life all big and fat. I'd go back to smoking, but, might not work and I might get even fatter. I may still try

Hi, thank you for your comment. The CBQ method is not designed to help you stop smoking weed, but it can help you quit tobacco even if you're smoking weed with it.

I've always said you have to want to quit in order to quit,, l never wanted to quit but knew I had to,, so when the day came that I couldn't breath I knew it was time to quit,, smoked my last cigarette and will never smoke again,, 45+ years, 10's of thousands of dollars and shorter life expectancy,, yea it was worth it,, NOT!

I want stores to put cigarettes out of view, make the person have to go up 4 flights of stairs(no elevator) to get to the area to buy them. Getting rid of advertising worked but those who are trying to quit will eventually see the packs right behind the counter at gas stations or small stores. Lost some girlfriends in the past because they quit but went right back.

Hi miss nasia davos. What if someone didnt prepare. And want to fight during its quit date. What strategey would you recommend ?
@CBQMethod
@CBQMethod 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jerick, I recommend preparing. If you feel you're fighting to stay smoke free and you're using willpower, quitting may not be a pleasant experience. Preparation is everything.

@CBQMethod
@CBQMethod 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. As Nasia mentioned around 5:18 minutes in the video, the CBQ method can help you overcome the desire to smoking by going through the 4 quit smoking stages of the CBQ method. Nasia explains more about it here in this other video below: How the CBQ Method Removes the Desire For Cigarettes kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYGpmZaOj7OSlZY
