You need a plasma torch to cut things out rather than using the grinder to do so much cutting. It’s fast and clean. Then just a very little bit of clean up with a grinder. You have a lot of nice equipment for your builds. A plasma cutter would be a nice upgrade. I really like mine. I put off purchasing one for a long time. Once I finally got one it’s has been a fantastic tool to have

Advice regarding the lathe. Whilst your easy rest is beefy, it lacks any lateral support. Vibration, enters the pipe section and it moves around it. I suggest adding some fins on the outside to give it extra rigidity AND wider or double bearings. You can actually see it flex, when you manually move it from the pulley.

We had that 'occillation'problem trying to cut the first Crown Vic/LTD axles.Higher speed and slower tool feed kept them from 'corkscrewing'the bearing surfaces.That far from the bracing of the tool mounts allows that fun stuff to show.I just 3x speed and cut tool feed by 50% and they quit vibrating.

530 chain is the exact same thing as #50 industrial chain that you can find everywhere and for pretty cheap. You might not be able to find very big sprockets in 530 since almost every aftermarket brands only do 520 . I think you should use #50 sprockets with a 530 o-ring chain, it's cheap and super easy to find.
@Glenda-rg4pj4 жыл бұрын

If you are making a rear suspension, like your twin engine buggy, I hope you make much longer suspension arms. If you have the pivot closer to center, like under the seat, and definitely not behind the seat, when you give it some throttle the rear won't lift or jack like your old one did. I'd start with arms half of the wheel base in length. Easier to shorten than lengthen.
@aserta4 жыл бұрын
So you don't have to struggle with lining up the pipe (or stock in general) make a bar, akin to the roller bar used to make diamond patterns, but with a smooth rollers. You have that at 90 to the stock piece and at the slowest speed you can get, with the jaws, just a kiss loose, you touch the wheel to the stock, until it becomes set. Old trick, works really well. First few times, i recommend you stick something between you and the stock tho, as you might get it too much and it might fly.
