Best build yet, definitely. The rear suspension looks perfect to me, plenty of droop for big jumps and the spring rate looks just about perfect. The front however, does look a little stiff. It might soften up once you start mounting the pedals and other stuff on the front. I would definitely mount the battery up front to balance the weight if you can, it looks tight up there though.

You need to do a 4wd buggy. Get a salvage sxs for the drive traine The shape of the buggy is sweet Get your weight before ordering new springs. Then re valve the shocks to tune it
@Hellsong89
@Hellsong89 3 жыл бұрын
Yeap. Perfect excuse to make this thing 4x4 since front needs more weight anyways and suspension should be done when all the weight is on the machine. Also needs anti-roll bars, since there is so much body roll with this setup.

I would leave the front suspension the way it is until you've had the chance to take it out for a test spin. Once you get your weight in the frame, it might be enough to smooth out the ride.
@butchs.4239

Agreed. The should be a fair amount of weight added once the floor & skidplate is on it. Add a winch and mount the battery up front, stuff like that.

I think for the rear, yes. but the front is way too stiff. there's no droop at all

Add some additional mounting points towards centerline for the lower end of the front suspension. Then you have adjustable leverage ratio/ adjustable front suspension stiffness.

Maybe one horizontal of these shocks instead of two...
@cinnamonrollypoly
@cinnamonrollypoly 3 жыл бұрын
@@deadslow201 I like that idea. Mounting the bottom of the shock on the lower control arm closer to the frame of the kart will increase the leverage of the wheel going over bumps, and soften the ride.

I love it. It being so tall means when she jumps shes gonna be epic! No bottoming out. Just perfect man, don't mess with it, just finish her up! :D I love how tall she is, you go softer and she's gonna roll, but if you keep her tight like that she'll slide nicely.

Ok, just found your channel a few weeks ago and now have watched all the projects that you have made so far. I must say that you are a really smart and driven individual. With the tools you have and have made, the projects you have completed and are currently building, they are outstanding! You will do great things in life, I'm sure of it! Keep at it and you will have a bright future in fabricating! I myself am an Machinist and work as a maintenance worker in a metal factory. So here is a few tips for you, if you want to take them. :) - Use the DRO on your mill when making bolt holes that are in a circle. It has a program built in (Bolt Hole Circle or something like that) it and its really easy to use. Easy to make the holes as you have the work piece often already centered for milling the middle hole bigger. - Please use a vice or vice grips on your drill press to clamp down the piece you are drilling. When it snags on the drill and cuts open all your fingers, or worse, breaks your fingers, that is not fun. - You should really get a speed controlled motor for you lathe or get a different lathe. Drilling and cutting all with one speed is really hard on your drill bits and tool bits. There are simple formulas to calculate the speed you need your chuck to rotate when cutting. And when you have used them a while, you can ballpark the speeds and its a lot better than just always using one speed. - When you are making shafts or housings for bearings, you should always make them tight, you don't ever want the bearing to spin in the housing or on the shaft, because then the bearing spins from the wrong place and will wear out the shaft or housing and play will occur. Other than those few things, you are doing great! And you are an excellent welder, a lot better than I could ever be, there are so many things that I learned watching your videos these past weeks. You got a new subscriber and follower! Can't wait to see what you come up next!

i have a motor cycle powered sand car(short wheel base), and i understand the difficulties of finding the right shocks and springs. i have been working on springs and valving for 15 years. finally got it right! took it to a shock guy at glamis on tuning day. got it doing the whoops at 40mph. easily the biggest improvement was just the right springs. yours look a little stiff all the way around. super cool car! love the lines of the frame and what you did with the rear shocks.

Regarding too stiff suspension: you have 2 other options other than softer springs: increase shock mounting angle or make lower shock mount closer to control arm pivot. Both solutions chanche geometry in such way that shock will act like with softer springs AND dampers. Cheers ;

jauned I haven’t heard that before, but I ride atvs and from experience, more angle with your shocks makes the ride smoother, less angle and you feel every bump in the road
@kwaherikwasasa
@kwaherikwasasa 3 жыл бұрын
@@braydenmiller7714 that is because when you angle your shock you reduce the spring rate. For example if you tip your shock at 25 degrees your spring rate is 91% of its original rate if mounted vertically. So in effect you soften the spring. The change in spring rate is the original spring rate times the cosine of the angle that the shock is mounted at. So the cosine of 25° is .91 and that's where the 91% comes from. There are several good KZbin videos on spring rates, and suspension setup.
