Hey Gayle..."he is your friend so you wouldn't have seen it!" This is in response to your question to Miss Leslie on Kobe's sexual allegations! Why don't you interview him, Matt Lauer, and your buddy Harvey Weinstein! Ask them before God forbidding something happens to them.

Yes, he did, but the "apologies" from these so-called celebrities don't and shouldn't make this behavior disappear. Rose, like so many others, was wrong and he (and they) had to know it was wrong long before this news broke.

Wow! Talking about double standards. Someone should really compile a video from the dozens of _CBS This Morning_ videos where both Gayle and Norah repeatedly over the years have shamelessly flirted with Charlie, made indecent sexual comments towards him live on air, while alluding to the things they would like to do to him. I guess it was okay for them to sexualize him.

I'm in the music business. and travel quite a bit and hear many things about many people and it is everywhere In the music business in the political world in medicine everywhere The only surprising thing to me Is that a lot of the people in politics and the media want to maintain the moral high ground with regard to this problem yet they are doing the same damn thing Wasn't Charlie Rose criticising the President about this same issue ?

It is unlikely they knew. The accusations came from those who worked with Charlie on his PBS show, where he is an executive at his own production company. One of his accusers was his assistant; it is unlikely he would openly sexually harrass or assault his victims around those who worked at CBS, where he is an anchor who can be easily disposed of and is always watched.

Very sad about Charlie Rose. Such a superior journalist, such an intellectual.... the kind of person the human race needs asking the tough questions, sharing his wisdom. And every one of us has something, eh? Wow. Every. Last. One of us has something. He was a national treasure. May he come to terms with this behavior and the mental crap behind it,and grow through this wisely .... and once again, someday,be able to make a difference.

@@donnakreye8339 Yes, he was a national disgrace. No argument there. However your suggestion that many others could do what he did is unfortunate: If so, Donna, where are they? 5 years later and no one yet is doing the sort of intelligent profound interviews Charlie Rose did. .It's a case of both and. He was both a national treasure and a national disgrace.

I have a theory that there are two different types of sexual aggression. One type has a person, usually a man, who has some kind of professional power over another and he or she uses that power to demand sexual favors with consequences coming if the favors are not fulfilled. Another type of aggression is a person who due to his or her status believes, incorrectly, that they are sexually desired by some specific person when, in fact, they are not. It would take a lot of naivety and poor judgement, but it is possible that Charlie Rose is the latter of the two. He could invite a lady over with a twinkle in his eye, saying that he would like to get to know her. She thinks this is her chance to take a step up professionally only to find Charlie Rose with his robe opened, Charlie wrongly thinking she has desires for him. Either way, there is guilt.
@WhtetstoneFlunky
@WhtetstoneFlunky 7 жыл бұрын
dbright I think both types of sexual aggression are equally guilty of just that: unwanted sexual aggression. Hypothetically there is a man who has no professional power over any women. He invites women over only to expose himself when he answers the front door. Is that an offense comparable to the wrong-doing of Charlie Rose? I don't know. I think it would be. The social power emboldens the guilty, it does not make the wrong-doing more egregious.
@praised03
@praised03 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, no. He was using his status to sexually assault these women. He's only saying he thought they were attracted to him as an excuse. In one instance where he gropped a girl, she began sobbing and Charlie tried to sooth her by saying "baby, oh baby, why are you crying?". She's crying because she's being molested. Did that stop him? No. Should we cut him some slack because according to him he misjudged the relationship? No.

I gotta say, the court of public opinion is great. No more do we need pesky evidence or testimony or the right to a trial and to face one's accuser. Now, you simply accuse someone and they're guilty. Even if they later prove themselves innocent...doesn't matter. In the public eye, they must be guilty of SOMETHING or nobody would have accused them. Yeah, the court of public opinion...much faster and easier than the old criminal justice system. And before you jump down my throat, this comment has nothing to with the actual accusations. Rose may be guilty of everything and more for all I know, and I agree that people should be held to account for their actions, but I'm getting tired of seeing lives and careers being decimated the moment anybody accuses them of something. We're all just too eager to burn the next witch...

This is getting so ridiculous and unfair. These allegations ruin people's careers before there's been any trial or substantial evidence that has been thoroughly investigated. I'm not saying that it is the case here, but these allegations are now coming every single day, and it needs to slow down. Honestly I think that every man has done something that could, by today's standards, be enough for some allegations and being fired. It just happens if you're famous though and that is not fair.

Sad news to hear. I agree with Gayle on still trying to process it all. It’s hard to be in the co hosts position. You don’t want to disrespect nor judge either side so early on. However, atleast he apologized rather than flat out deny it. That only adds insult to injury when things are ignored or denied. This is only the beginning of many more things like this coming to the forefront about so many others. Some I’m sure will be more shocking then others. Nonetheless it’s all bad, an it’s time things change.

Well, this is so sad if indeed it is true. I enjoyed watching Charlie every am. The problem I'm having with this situation is that every am I watched this show I would see and hear Gayle King make little innuendos and just outright FLIRT with Charlie! Now, correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't that be misconstrued as sexual harrassment? I mean, there were times when she would say things that were a little embarrassing. So why does Gayle King get to do this without repercussions? Please understand, I'm not giving Charlie a 'pass', no man or woman deserves that in a situation such as this, but why does a 'reporter' get to make comments and flirt with another reporter on a 'serious' news show without being called on the carpet. Sounds like double standard to me. Or maybe it's just that far-reaching hand of Oprah patting Gayle on the head for a job well done.

Matt Lauer's next. A couple of women came forward when he was doing " Where in the Word is Matt segments. They said he was invited to traditional dinners and invited them to see what his posh hotel looked like, that's when he would use his status to try and entice them. They complained but nobody listened. So let's see, if anything, will come out. And why are we not hearing about women in executive positions being scrutinized for grouping men or women? They can be more forward than men can!!!!

I remember watching CBS when Pope Francis was being anointed, that was about 2013? I think. I remember it was Nora and Charlie covering it in Vatican City. I remember watching it along, and they said they were cutting to a commercial break. So they're sitting there for a good second or 2... the camera didnt cut to commercials... next thing I know I see Charlie, out of no where, grab Nora's thigh in an extremely non PG way and start rubbing it. Nora remained looking at the camera expressionless, 2 seconds later and then bam, cut to commercials. I remember seeing that and wondering, "wow, did I just see that"? I really hope someone else happened to see it, because honestly seeing this now makes me feel a little less confused than I felt that day. And if I saw it, how many people working at CBS saw that kinda activity daily, and either didnt act or couldnt/wouldnt speak up. Edit: I know this is a new comment on an old video but it popped up on my home page so I felt like leaving this tidbit I remember from almost a decade here for someone to find and take in.

Also the victims of Kevin Spacey were all men to my knowledge. Honestly, I don’t want to see any more women or men come forward with evidence of assault (not that victims shouldn’t come forward, but that I don’t want there to be more victims). I don’t want a balance, I want people to stop sexually assaulting. If there are no instances of women assaulting men that is a triumph and is okay. I hope there aren’t any more cases of men assaulting women either. Unfortunately, there probably are more instances of both to come to light. But there’s no justice or rightness to be found in adding to the numbers, just sadness for the depravity in our world.

Think about this for a moment. If your best friend was accused by multiple credible, and unrelated people of sexually assaulting victims on multiple occasions and then your friend publicly admits to doing it... would you still want to be best friends with that person? How about if your best friend was accused of raping children on multiple occasions, by multiple people, and then didn't deny it? Should the coworker of a predator really be expected to stay friends with someone like that? Think about it.

It's amazing how many people are on this thread expressing anger toward Gayle, Norah, CBS, Charlie's accusers (basically, EVERYONE BUT Charlie Rose), when he all but admitted that he's guilty of what these women have accused him of. THIS is exactly why women and other victims of sexual assault wait so long to come forward, IF they even come forward at all, because it has been proven time & time again that it will never matter what a man does to violate another human being, Someone, Somewhere, Somehow and in Someway will hold EVERYONE BUT "HIM" accountable for HIS ACTIONS. #UnF**kingBelievable!
