Just saw a story on him last night. He opens up his school on Friday nights until 11 so his babies may have somewhere safe to hang out. Feeds them and has games and activities for them. Amazing leader.

No, that would take him out of the school and away from his babies. That’s the typical reaction of the education “blob” as it is often called. For example, with the Teacher of the Year, you know what they do? Here they have the best educator, the most effective person in the classroom, and for the year after their named teacher of the year, they take them out of the classroom! That makes no sense whatsoever. What some states found is many of those Teachers of the Year end up never going back to the classroom. That’s a tragedy.

I wish I had him in high school. I wore the same clothes everyday and got teased. We lived on and off the street and I was bullied. This would have helped someone like me and so many others. Great job you're doing Mr. Cook. You are needed in this world.

This story is 5 yrs old; pre pandemic. It would be interesting to follow-up and see how the school is doing now and where are those kids as adults. He was really trying to create contributing members of society who will end up giving back more than they initially came with. I hope he’s still able to provide these things. 💜

i frequently used the classroom washers and dryers for students who couldn't get their clothes clean. we also mended the uniforms and showed students how they could maintain their uniforms. the classroom had a thrift box where students donated items, and they helped to create outfits for others. there was a community where the students cared about each other. it was a blessing to be a part of it.

our family is struggling to get by, and depend on our local school resource counselors for food, bus vouchers, and occasionally rides, we can't afford a vehicle, and if you don't have fam, a church, or any other folks in your life, the school is the last place in our communities to get support
