Crazy the cities in this area spend 40% of the budget on police and get nothing out of it basically. The state needs to fund 1 police officer per 100 section 8 people. No city can afford to be flooded with section 8.

To the lady that said we do have a hand full of officers to spare. You are wrong. We don’t even have a hand full per shift. Some areas have 2 patrol cars for over 1-million population… So where should they get their hand full of officers? I don’t disagree there should be more patrol, but it’s not the CHP to go after, it’s the legislators that allow CHP to hire more officers. We are on the right track but need to focus on the main cause that we aren’t able to patrol more and be proactive instead of sadly reactive most times.

Vallejo Police Department wants to spend well over a million dollars of taxpayers money on surplus military equipment. They are asking for armored vehicles, high caliber rifles, etc.etc.etc. None of which helps the citizens of Vallejo. If anything, according to FBI data, these type of equipment and weapons hurt minority residence more than anything else. They causes more division within the community against the police department. Here’s an idea, instead of buying military equipment, try hiring qualified police officers to protect the community and uphold the laws.
