My brother passed away from parkinson's last year. I didn't know that he was going to die. I live in Wisconsin while he lived in New Jersey. Then one day his son (my nephew) called me on the phone. I had only met him once and was surprised that he called. When he told me that my brother had passed it shocked me. I had been speaking to my brother on the phone once in a while but not in about 7 weeks. I've been on disability for the last 7 years and could not afford to go to the service. The bottom line is this; live each day like it is your last. before you know it .....it will be.

I had the honor of recording Linda and her superb band live at Atlanta’s Fox Theater in 1977. She was already a huge success, a beautiful and humble young woman with a golden voice and has grown to be a legitimate legend of music. I wish her all the best, always. ❤️

Not only is she one of the great talents of all time, she is a sweetheart. I saw her in Tempe Arizona in the 1970s. She had a warmup up act that was so sensational, the audience wouldn't let him off the stage. Linda came out and asked the audience, "Isn't he incredible? Don't you want to hear more of him? I promise you I'll give you my entire show, no matter how late it gets." And she did. The show lasted five hours. The warmup act? Billy Joel, unknown at the time. The greatest show I've ever seen in my 75 years. I love Linda Ronstadt.

Here's a scandal for you. Jerry Brown was governor of California and Linda Ronstadt was his girlfriend. He went on a trip to Africa and brought her along. Since this was some sort of government trip and he was representing the state of California they were both criticized for going on this trip with them being unmarried. I was a kid then and I thought it was kind of cool. This had to be the late 70s.

watched this last night and thinking about that this morning. What a pro - a high compliment from me - how many times have you seen others in any field stay on five years too long, or even worse get propped up on the stage for a few extra bucks? And on top of that just being clear-eyed and honest about her career/life, I like her response to the interviewer who suggested they might find a cure for Parkinson's and she brushed off the optimism with "Hey, I'm 72" which I took as a "I'm in the territory, stuff happens." She was never really a problem child either, no deep bout with drugs, affairs, tortured soul stuff. ('course, some people think that's what music should be about but I'll leave that for someone else) no histrionics, still friends with Jerry, went on to dabble in the standards...just a pro with a fantastic voice who excelled at her craft. On the side, I don't understand why people bring in a comparison to Trump, simply, it's changing the subject from the original comment while souring the whole thread. Oh well.

I grew up with her too. I have to disagree. She's no longer the powerhouse woman she used to be. And, it doesn't matter, cuz she's getting tons of Love and thousands of comments. She's in my top 10 of all time ... Hmmm, Gladys Knight, Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Roberta Flack, Karen Carpenter, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Debby Harry, Cyndi Lauper, Sheila Ferguson ... not in any order.

There was always something special, unique about Linda Ronstadt. Her live performances could transform tough guys. The voice was honest, clear, strong and warm. She remains an interesting character.

Something about Linda from 4:00 to 4:10 in this clip hurts my heart. The decency of not wanting "charge people for that", followed by the sincerity and sadness in her "yeah" as she closes her eyes, it is just so sad to hear. A legend forever.

Her remark about not charging people truly shows what kind of person she is and her kind heart. There have been many performers who could no longer sing yet still continued on with concerts or tv shows. My respect for her is even greater now.

Linda is THAT singer. One of the best ever. But under the radar enough where you don’t question her authenticity. She’s exquisite.

She SANG, she didn’t scream, as so many of the female singers do today. And you could understand every syllable, not like today’s mush-mouthed divas.

Yes, exactly. She knew how to really beautifully sing a love song; not yell it in your ears.

Her songs are FANTASTIC, so is her singing voice AND she is so overrated in the annals of music.

I meant to say "so UNDERrated" in the annals of music" She was sooo pretty and then add her beautiful singing voice to it.....I have a theory that if female rappers today had Linda's voice they'd be singing instead of talking over music.
