I just started crying when I heard that after his Father died and his Mother saw another man later on that man beat him severely and he lost his eye sight. Also, hearing that out of respect for his Dad he could not touch his music until many many years. A.J. also lost his wife. He has suffered terribly in this life but his attitude and outlook on life is still positive and hopeful. He is a graceful man and I wish him only the best. He is not just a worthy legacy but the great legacy of the great late Jim Croce. His Father would be proud of him.

To be fair, Maury Muehleisen had a lot to do with Jim Croce's success. Jim never had a hit, never did much of anything, till he got with Maury. Maury was the missing piece that made Croce a success. Croce knew it too,, and without Maury he would've likely never made it. They were a great duo. Jim was actually Maury's backup guitar player, and he decided to do the same for Jim. He even started writing songs for Jim. Maury today is considered one of the most underrated guitar players. Also, the day Croce goes into the HOF, it will not be as a solo act, it will be him and Maury. It is not disrespectful to say it, but Croce would have been nothing without Maury. Kinda like how Sonny would've been nothing without Cher. Without Maury bringing life to all the Croce hits, we would not know of those songs today. Jim and Maury both lucked up and found each other, and became great together.

So great of true story; AJ Croce loosing his father Jim at age of 2 loosing his eye sight losing his home to fire his wife to death and now at age of 50 starting to do his dads song. A very talented and special person.

I remember vividly the radio announcement the Jim Croce died in a plane crash. This hit me so hard because he was by far one of my all time favorite singers in 1973!! I was 18 years old. Jim Croce needs to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!! So glad his son is playing and singing his fathers music! When I heard him sing I shut my eyes and swear I was hearing his father singing! You have such a beautiful voice!! God bless you always! 🙏🙏🙏💖

I was 13 when Jim Croce died. I went to bed and sobbed into my pillow. His music was such a wonderful escape for me, given the turn my own childhood had taken. Such a marvelous talent taken at his prime. Good to see A.J. honoring his legacy - and Time in a Bottle is my special favorite too.

Jim Croce created some of the most iconic songs of the 70s. Who else would write "you don't tug on Superman's cape"? He has been greatly missed, so it's good to hear AJ bringing life back into his father's music.

if Croce was my dad I wouldnt go into music at all. genius is not hereditary. Look at the Beatle kids. impossible act to follow, so I wouldnt follow it.
@JimiBLong2 жыл бұрын
In my humble opinion, l don't believe that A.J. ever tried to follow his fathers act. Nor did he try to ride his coat tails into fame. l believe he chose music to soothe his pain, whether he ever made it to the big stage or not. It appears to have worked quite well for him because this interview shows a gentle, humble and well adjusted man who has overcome, and is at peace with the torments he's endured, ones that could have easily driven him down even more.

He took a lot from his Dad. He got to know him through song as we did. In reading about Jim months ago I learned that he wore a letter to his wife telling her he was cutting back and would not be touring as he hated the time away from her and now a young son.

Jim Croce was my favorite singer when I was in my early teens . When the news came out that he died in a plane crash , I cried . A year later I painted a portrait of him . It was the least I could do for the inspiration his songs gave me . I didn’t know how to send it to his wife , which is what I intended to do . I still have it . Thank you for airing this story ! It was inspirational !

Time in a bottle is one of the first songs I remember hearing on the radio as a child. Wondering what is this thing called music coming out of the radio. I always stop to listen whenever I hear a Croce song come on. Beautiful, sad, timeless. AJ seems like the most amazing person; so positive with so much trauma in his life. This little clip should be taught in psych classes. We can choose to wear that lifelong victim badge or we can choose to move on from our bad experiences, learning from them & growing from them but sloughing off the bad parts so they don’t envelop & choke us.

Great profile of A.J. Never knew that happened to him, the abuse & losing his wife. But he pulled through & managed to make his own mark on music & follow his own path. Now it's perfect timing for him to do his father's legendary music. Now if only Jim Croce can be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame. It's way OVERDUE. I know some people diss the hall nowadays but it surely wouldn't hurt.

Dear AJ, Just another number one fan of your Dad's. writing to tell you that I've always loved his music, his voice, his gentle soul, and everything that made Jim Croce what he was. I'm 64 now, so we're talking about 50+ years of listening to him, caring about him, and grieving the day that we tragically lost him. I was in shock and disbelief for a very long time before I could actually believe that he was gone. Simply devastated, and cried for a long time. I say this to you because I think it's important for you to hear from real people who really loved your Dad and have great admiration for him as a musical artist, and the beautiful person that he was. It must have been so hard for you as a very young boy, then emotionally having to sort things out as you grew up. I'm glad that you feel connected and want to grace us with his music, and your own. I'm sure that he's looking down upon you and feels very proud of the man you've become. I don't have any momentos of Dad, but I truly wish I did. I still listen to him all the time. Even though I love all of his songs, I particularly love "Operator" and "Time in a bottle." If you have anything laying around that you thinka true fan of your Dad's would like to have, and I mean anything at all, please message me and I will give you my address in Massachusetts. If not, I understand. Best wishes to you AJ, and may all good things come your way! HUGE Croce fan, Lauren
