This is the first time ive seen someone say that CCNA is a good cert for cloud. Cloud professionals tend to say that it’s overkill…

75% through bsnes degree because of this channel. I'm already net engineer but it's exposing me to diverse things. Working on ccnp security taking josh cyber course too to get good with cloud. Ccna is only entry level cert that isnt entry level at all super hard get net plus and lab first. More calls in the real world for sys admin and network engineer than buzzword titles. Glad josh is realistic mentioning general IT still. But literally I'd be fine with any degree from wgu. This program is elite basic scripting I didn't know, network labs, security fundamentals, cloud fundamentals, ccsp etc

Been following you for a minute man. I’m currently a federal employee working in law enforcement for a three letter agency. Just so happens this agency is just where I need to be if you get what I mean. They are paying for me to get my degree. I’m enrolling in WGU this fall. Can’t wait to get these certs and learn more so I can couple that with my high level clearance

Did you need to go to the military to land a three letter agency position ? How did you get clearance
@eddyb55923 ай бұрын
@@s.luciano353 absolutely not! There are jobs out here that will provide the clearance. Just do a little research! Josh has done the bulk of it for you lol. Dig a little deeper. Hit google! You can get employed by a three letter agency if you have experience and qualifications in the role that you’re applying for. Don’t make this too hard people. Brick by brick! Lay the foundation to get where you want to go. Good luck

I’m currently debating if I should go with cloud computing or network engineering and security (I have no experience in any IT at all. Going on a career change) i understand cloud is the future and more jobs to come so was leaning on CC but figured it’d be easier to do network engineering and than get a cloud certification. I’m sooo confused on what to do 😭

Could you talk about how you would structure classes for BNES?
@LCTesla4 ай бұрын
Is there a particular set of certs you recommend for software engineers without full time security responsibilities, just stuff supplementary to programming and cloud architecture knowledge? I currently have the IBM security profesional certificate, which is often compared to the one from google.

@JoshMadakor, What advice can you give someone who doesn't have money to pay for IT certifications but wants to study for the certificates, Do the free online certificates hold water when it comes to getting a job? or simply, what can someone with no funds to pay for IT certificates do?
@JoshMadakor2 ай бұрын
I would basically just learn the cert content/objectives inside and out, then put on your resume, for example: --- Certifications CompTIA Security+ (Expected ) --- Then just keep updating the expected month to whatever next month is when you apply. This will allow ATS to pick up the cert(s) on your resume without lying about having. This is also free to do. Just my 2c!

Hi Josh, Given that I've optimized my resume and portfolio, maximized self-presentation, and have 5 years of relevant security analyst experience, do you think pursuing a Bachelor of Science in IT + Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance at WGU to elevate the 'Education Metric' of your employability framework would be the right step toward securing $200k+ Cyber/IT roles? I believe this combination is a strong fit for high-level security and IT roles, especially considering I currently only have an associate's degree in IT, with transferable credits that can knock out some classes. I have SEC+ and will be getting CISSP and CISM before the end of the year. I would appreciate your thoughts as I have gained a wealth of knowledge from your channel and cyber program! Thanks, Mwangi

Do you think it's more important to get a certification like CCNA or get the skills learned on your own through something like GNS3. If your goal isn't networking but you want to have a good understanding?
@JohnCutter3174 ай бұрын
Ccna too big of an undertaking if not even considering networking. It is a do all thing if you want to try sys admin first etc. Especially since Microsoft certs went away.

@Thiccolo sys admin work is the key to all roles in my opinion. You touch everything. Whatever it takes to get that then pivot.

@@JohnCutter317I'm aiming for a job in pen testing, it requires a knowledge and a good understanding of enterprise networks. I have already gotten two certifications in red teaming, I just want a better understanding of Enterprise networks without actually having to work as a sys admin. from what I can tell creating an testing network topology on GNS3 is my best bet. But if I want to cert while also getting a deep understanding of network topology CCNA is my best bet. I'm leaning a little on the GNS3 side based on your original response.

@@DNikos same here brother, whatever jobs you're applying to try to just do those projects most related to them as well. On a red team application, I made sure to put and azure C2 server project I did. There's always more you can do that's low-hanging fruit

@@DNikos I'm getting interviews that way, you can also do something Josh recommends a lot. If you have a project that's really in line with the job you're applying for, and you get a question about your skills in that direction. You can literally just share your screen and pull up the project and show them step by step how your skills align with their needs.
