The wave of applicants shot up after the pandemic, LA county is flooded with people applying, stay patient and you’ll get that call for an interview. If you haven’t already get on Reddit r/CCW and /CAGuns and you can see the timeframe on application processing times to help gauge when you’ll get the call.

Which one would you recommend for a first time gun p01 or sp01? I would like to ccw in the future. I'm built pretty big if that makes a difference

@@TheTAEclub go to a gun range and see if you can rent both. The SP01 is larger and heavier.

What physical differences between the CA model we get and the rest of the US?

Nothing in regards to the CZ P-01 but for instance the S&W shield is the gen 1 model with a loaded chamber indicator for the CA model compared to the standard which does not have one.
