My maternal grandmother's house is a village near old courtalam falls, tenkasi(Tirunelveli). We used to have 100s of cows in shed 30 year back. But now my cousin who are living there started buying milk from outside. And every one in the village migrated to pocket milks and outside milks. I was shocked to see the change. I'm happy to see this effort from the couple. In 10 years time they can even make money by charging visitors like they do in zoo.

Jallikattu protest to save the Tamilnadu native breeds like (kangeyam, umbalacherry, kanchi Kuttai, bargur, theni malai maadu, alambadi, pulikulam etc.,,) not yet for milk. Hats off to you !.Our government is indiscriminately crossing our country cattle with western varieties developed and suitable for cold climes only resulting in half breed cattle that is prone to foot and mouth and other infections!.They don't realise their folly!.Instead, they can bring more of North Indian cattle like Gir,Red Sindhi,Tarpurkar and Sahiwal cattle which are all high milk yielders!.These Cattle are eminently suitable to our South Indian climate!.You can also consider VECHUR dwarf cows(Kerala) and Punganur cows.
