I realize that this video is a couple of years old but it happen to pop up for me. Your Pom is so relaxed and you are clearly an amazing owner. I have owned poms for years and everything you said is 100% true. One important thing that I would mention is just how prone they are to collapsed trachea’s. Thankfully I knew this and never use a collar on mine, only use a harnesses just in case they pull. Even without the use of a collar they can still have this issue. If you notice that your Pom starts coughing or hacking regular it’s important to take them to the vets right away because this condition can arise on it’s own. Unfortunately I lost one of my babies due to this and it was heartbreaking. Thank you for educating people and again your Pom is is so well behaved!

#2 So true! They train you more than you train them if you're not careful. I agree on the grooming too. I've heard so many horror stories. I think your pup looks great and you're doing such a good job. Great advice on everything. I've had poms since 1987, since I was 9 years old. I have had many other dogs too, but only went a few months without one after my first one passed away about 20 years ago. My parents ended up with several of them too over the years. Your pom looks so cute and happy. Thankyou for the video. About the fragile bones, this unfortunately is true. My boy at two broke his leg getting caught on a leash while jumping out of a vehicle. Poor guy had a lot of healing but he actually did fully recover and is still energetic. Pomeranians look like a cuddly lap dog but they will try to do everything. They are sturdier than they look. However, they are not as sturdy as they think they are.

Theres almost no shedding. Most is just while fur change from puppy to adult 😁 Other dogs shed waaay more
@CeceFamily3 жыл бұрын
Pomeranians do tend to shed heavy around twice a year. During those times, you’ll notice their fur on your clothes and around the house. However, these periods don’t last and for the rest of the time the shedding is quite manageable. They don’t shed as much as some other breeds though! 😋🐶

I have 5 and 6 year old Pom boys. I really wish I thought to brush their teeth when they were babies. One of them is now getting plaque and tartar on his teeth, but neither will let me brush and I've tried! Their fur is LOT of work and if anyone is considering a Pom, they need to be prepared for that. I would also add that you are never supposed to shave a Pomeranian. Because of the type of fur they have, shaving them could ruin the way their fur grows back. And their fur is their glory! :) Great video and your baby is so cute! They are the best dogs in the world!!

another very important thing: never shave your poms fur especially not in summer. Their fur regulates their body temperature. It was proven that poms who have been shaved in summer heat up a lot more compared to poms who have not been shaved down. They are double coated and shaving them can also lead to their fur growing back "patchy". It is not healthy and should be avoided as much as possible
@CeceFamily3 жыл бұрын
100% agree. It’s very important and it’s a very common misconception that people often have as well! I myself also never shave my Poms in the summer because of that. I only shave them for medical reasons - for example, when they have skin allergies and need to be shaved to be treated. Thank you for your comment! 💕 It’s actually a very good point and so important that I might actually have to do another video about it! 😋

The pee pad was not an option because he enjoyed ripping it up when a baby. My pom gives an alert bark if he needs a restroom break outside, water or food in a designated area. When a squirrel or rabbit visits my residence, that is when my pom feels Macho. Until potty trained & for his safety, he was cage trained.

I agree with all of what you said. I am on my third Pom and he is such a blessing. I groom him myself just because of bad grooming stories out there.

Omg you’re on your third Pom? You must be a super experienced Pom owner - much more experienced than me then 💕 It’s always best to groom them ourselves to make sure they are in the best care possible right? 😋 P/S: you and your Pom look absolutely gorgerous in the profile picture! 💕 I’m smiling hard over here just looking at it ❤️

@@CeceFamily Thank you! I love your videos! Cleve is SO adorable! Love your hide and seek video! It took me a while but I actually got pretty good at grooming my fur baby. I got all the necessary scissors and have been watching a lot of “how to groom your Pomeranian” videos. I consider it a bonding time for us... plus, he knows he gets spa-like treatments 😊

I quite agree with doing the grooming oneself and leave nails to be done by vet only. They truly are a lovely breed of dog. Thanks for videos find them informative.

Looking to get a pom myself as an adult as i had one at as a child and we didn't do really any of these things :/ i feel bad knowing that dog didn't get this level of care but I'm very grateful to you that i can put these into practice in the future! :) thank you!

Aww no don’t feel bad! You did your best with the knowledge you had at that time - there weren’t as many resources back then! There were so many things we didn’t knoww either when we had our first Pom. That’s why we started this channel, and we have many videos about how to take care of Poms and also how to train them on our channel to help you in the future! ❤️

You and Cece are both so cute! Cece’s hair looks great you did an excellent job. I used to cut my poms hair and they would look square after! I had 2 poms and they were so adorable and great dogs. My last one past at almost 17. I want another one!
@CeceFamily3 жыл бұрын
Aww thank you so much! 🥰 And I can relate so much to the looking square part - that sometimes happens to me too 😂 WOW you had 2 Poms and your last one lived to almost 17? That says a lot about how well you had taken care of them! Maybe it's time to get another one now? 😋

Aww thank you! We have a lot more videos for current Pom owners such as “How to groom a Pom”, “How to take care of a Pom daily” in which we share a lot more tips and day-to-day products we use ❤️ This video is more geared towards soon-to-be Pom owners i talked kind of at an introductory level so I don’t overwhelm new dog owners so much but still give them a good idea of how much work it involves when getting a Pom! 🐶

I love your videos, they are very informative and are helping me to care for my Pom who just turned two years old. I wish my Pom was as patient as your Cece! My biggest challenge is poop butt, she won't let me anywhere near her bottom, I don't know if because of a bad experience with a groomer, she has been twice, or maybe animals are very protective of that area. I subscribed and am looking forward more videos.

Aww haha yep that can be a struggle for some dogs! Have you tried the tips that I mentioned in my video about how to brush dogs that hate brushing? The same tips can usually be applied to desensitize them to their butt being touched and groomed. Best of luck! 💕

I also do all of my own grooming of my Pomeranian except for giving him a bath. I'm mildly disabled and cannot stand for any length of time so I do take him to the groomers for a bath. He doesn't get very dirty and doesn't need to be bathed more than a few times a year. Regarding trimming the nails, you might want to try a grinder instead of clippers. There is much less chance of cutting the quick. The downside is you need to acclimate your dog to the sound and vibration rather slowly. Also it might take a little longer to get the job done. But in my opinion it's worth it. CeCe looks beautiful so you're obviously doing a great job. 👍
@CeceFamily4 жыл бұрын
Aww Jazz is so lucky to have a caring owner like you. I'm touched by the love and the care that you have given your poms. I completely agree with your nail grinder suggestion since there is a much lower chance of cutting the quick. I've actually tried to slowly introduce her to a nail grinder before. However, after some of her horrible experiences at groomers, she is a lot more fearful of grooming sessions, and grooming her is a lot harder than how it used to be. So unfortunately she didn't do well with the sound and vibration. I had to come back to the nail clipper to get the job done as quick as possible to reduce her stress level. Luckily, I've mastered my nail trimming skill and have learned to only cut in very small increments so I haven't cut her quick in years. When it's finally time for me to get a companion for Cece, I'll definitely go with your suggestion and start the puppy with the nail grinder though!

Great video!!!! I love my little guy and I’ve found that YES grooming myself is much less stress and they become so much more fun to groom… the key is consistency and he now just melts as I do all his grooming… wonderful addition to the family for sure, very high maintenance is expected for great health to our little fury angels.🤩😇

@@CeceFamily oh ABSOLUTELY!! I’ll admit it was hard not to spoil him bc of his cuteness at first 😆🙈Literally the ONLY downside is poopy butt & having to deal with that. I’ll definitely be investing in that little shaver for him.
@CeceFamily3 жыл бұрын
Haha yess you're right poopy butt is kinda a Pomerania. My Pom Cece I think she has OCD. I would refused to go potty on a dirty pads, and if there's any trace of poo sticking around her butt, she would scratch her butt against the floor until I notice and go wipe her butt for her 😆 Luckily since I always shave the fur around her butt, they never get too bad 😂
