Awesome video thank you so much for making this! After sewing binding today on the bottom of a 60 toot vinyl skirt with a binder on a Consew 206 and finishing it just a few feet by hand without a binder after it didn't work out. I really appreciate this video with you doing this without a binder by hand. Your work is so professional and so nice.

I understand, some practice is needed...the method on min 30:12 could work. Try to get the additional device to do binding...it is attached to the sewing machine.

@Mikefngarage6 жыл бұрын
you the man. I cant do that without binding attachment
@Cechaflo6 жыл бұрын
Most of the upholsterers use this method. Just some training and you would master these procedures. I have to recognize that by using a 'binder' we would get nicer and faster bindings.

I don't know if it exists, but you guys should publish a standard handbook (online) on CAR and BOAT upholstery. A full DVD course combining all these YT-vidsI myself try to refurbish car-seats of older cars using the very old techniques (involving "crin" and "horsehair").You find this in cars as late as 1960's.

+Frank Deruyck, Thanks for your suggestion! In fact, that's the idea of compiling different upholstery techniques...but, it will take some time to get to this stage. It is very interesting what are you going to do with the 'old cars', restoring them original as how they came from factory.
@FrankDeruyck9 жыл бұрын
thank you. I will post a vid on YT showing some of the things I do
@Cechaflo9 жыл бұрын
+Frank Deruyck There is an interesting upholstery forum you could subscribe, if you are not yet...it also has an additional instagram site where the upholsterers can display their jobs. I think the 'old techniques' you're referring to is 'tuck & roll'...I did something similar but using foam. www.thehogring.com/auto-upholstery-forum/auto-upholstery-forum-group4/beginners-questions-forum7/tuck-and-roll-thread2133/

Hi Cesar❣ May I ask the type and size of thread? Is nylon bonded thread one you recommend? Thank you. Xo
@Cechaflo4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynn, I used for this demonstration polyester thread 138 two strands. It is supposed these carpets are going to be used in a car interior. Bonded threads would work out much better and last longer. More information:www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=polyester-thread-138 In my point of view nylons would be more resistant to moisture:www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=nylon-thread-138 The best of the best thread for outdoors is Tenara thread: www.gore.com/products/sewing-thread-for-outdoor-applications
