Have you considered getting a portable washing machine for you work out gear? There are some that don't use that much water and you can hang dry your clothes afterwards. I hate Kong. The only Kong toy that has lasted is that bell shape toy that you put food or treats into which I do really love. Every other Kong product does not hold up to a dog (Samoyed) that is a chewer. I have bought them all. And don't ever believe when it says Tough Fabric 😂. It's a lie. You want a something to chew on. Go spend the money on a large Antler (real).

It appears you bought a Devil's Ivy. They're tough. Will give and give. Off cuts can be put in water and they will survive this way, and grow. The other one looks like a Peace Lily ... dark leaves do better in low light. They are air purifiers too. Suggest you purchase a moisture guage as over watering is the main culprit leading up to 'death by overcare'. Remember room heating dries the soil out more. Keep away from the wood fire. Suggest a slow release fertiliser (organic is best). If you come across a Snake Plant, another air cleaner, and indestructible. They're those upright architectural looking plants. Jade. Anything with thicker leaves are mostly human resistent. Enjoy 🌱

This may be an odd question, but what domestic animals are on Svalbard. I wonder what your vet does to keep busy. Dogs obviously, but cats? Rabbits? Chickens? I would imagine that there would be strict rules just in case of escapes and feral populations taking hold. And I always wondered about plants. Both inside and out. I know grow lights would be essential in winter. In summer are you allowed to grow vegetables in a green house. Some plants would produce like mad in the constant light and you could can or freeze your veggies for use in the winter. A pot with tomatoes or cucumbers on a sheltered spot on the deck. Just curious about this. Really enjoyed your day on video.
@saranaslund52502 жыл бұрын

@alys45702 жыл бұрын
They would have to be plants that thrive in 40° to 50° F weather or less , if I’m not mistaken in the summertime it doesn’t get much warmer than the upper 40’s sometimes 50s . Those are really good questions though.

The vet has toys and everything! So adorable. Our vets only have specialty food and like beginner cat litter and stuff like that. And of course all veterinarian stuff medicine and what not. Then we have a pet hospital that has major stuff for surgery and specialty things. And not every vet takes small animals or large ones. That was a pain. My one cat has asthma her whole life so she has to go to the animal hospital a lot of the time. They are the only ones that have the plexiglass oxygen container for her. Poor girl.

I know the pothos in my bathroom (with no window) doesn't grow as much and doesn't get as dark/green as the ones that get light. You guys have such a trek from the house to the car. Hey Cecilia, good choice in the indoor plants. They look quite hardy to me. very important not to overwater, particularly in Winter when they aren't growing. Put your finger in the pot to check if it needs water. if the soil is wet or damp leave it. Occasionally you can spray the leaves or wipe them with a little water to get the dust off to keep the leaves healthy. Oh and another thing- don't let water sit in the bottom of the outside(decorative) pot. Let it drain in the shower or sink before you put it back in the outside pot. Hope this helps :)

While I am not 100% certain about Svalbard in particular, launderettes are not a thing at all in Norway (some old apartment buildings might still have a common laundry in the basement, but they are few and far between). Cecilia's cabin does not have running water. I'm guessing that most houses in Longyearbyen have running water, but that there's enough cabins and cottages like Cecilia's to warrant a launderette in the village :)

Hi guys, Svalbard seems to be a really cool place to live, and it's getting cooler by the day at this time of year...(dad joke). I should say that what you need in the steep slope at the car is a "landscaping staircase". You simply lay down two long 2x8 boards down the slope standing on their sides, connect them with 3 feet long boards across at approximately 2 feet apart (also standing on their sides) and then you fill the voids in between with rock and gravel (after you have made a 4 feet wide shallow "channel" without any big rocks where the boards go and with a somewhat even grade. And after you have filed the stairs on the inside also remember to back fill the channel along the outside to make it extra sturdy). If you buy pressure treated wood and build it so the snowplow doesn't reach the top stars, they should last you forever (more or less), and it's not a difficult/expensive stair type to build either, all you really need is a hand saw, a spirit level and a cordless drill with a bit that fits the long wood screws you use to connect the boards... 👍😁

You said Grim was super mad that you would not take him to town with you. How did Grim know in advance? I thought he wouldn't know till the last minute when you leave and shut the door?

My dog knows when I'm getting ready to leave somewhere fun or when I'm going to visit my mom in there city. I think it's the type of energy we put out. I get a nervous excitement and my dog picks up on that.

Philodendron (the plant one you took out) can deal with very low light. It really likes something climb on, and will happily clean your air. You can grow more from cuttings!
