I’ve been to many kids birthday parties (nieces & nephews) What I started to notice is that throwing big birthday party for children is actually influencing them in a negative way. Children start to become prideful and entitled...less humble. It’s no longer an “act of kindness” for them, it becomes an expectation. They expect it every year, and if they don’t get it they become angry with you. When I have a child of my own, (inshaAllah) I will never make this mistake. Allah knows best.

yeah but its not about one certain day. the same goes with christmas or valentines day or any other. why should these days, especially these days, be so important that you must show your affaction or love or how ever you wanna call it to the people instead of doing it the whole year through? And thats where the devil shows its real face. do only things if they benefit you and if you have to do them, do them on times where you can hide your intentions behind a curtain. be in your own confort zone instead of getting out of it. its easier to be once a year in a position to do something and the rest of the year you can stagnate or just stay lazy. Allah always wants you to strive for more and be all day, everyday awake and hopeful to learn new things, give love and be grateful instead of once a year.

I do not belong to any religious group, but I know from historical facts that the celebration of birthdays is derived from pagan customs and that the prophets never asked us to celebrate our birthday or the birthday of the prophets, so I do not understand why some Muslims celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad and I do not understand why they celebrate Some Christians celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Jesus, and call it Merry Chismas, the story of St. Nicholas, etc. It is an issue of conscience and a question of interpretation of human customs, but it should be considered whether pagan human customs can be confused with religion
@RandPersonn
@RandPersonn Жыл бұрын
I am not also a religious person but it is a fallacy that one must not celebrate birthday because it originated, originally came from some pagans. That would be fallacy of origins or argument from virtue, which is baseless. This is like saying having marriage rings is not moral because rings women wear originally signified how women were being in schakles or were deprived of their freedom, so, any woman who wears ring is a sexist, anti woman freedom. That argument would be fallacious since no woman on earth who wears marriage ring wears it to signify sexism or none considers it to be a form of misogyny became the purpose is to signify that they are married, not to symbolize that they are anti freedom. Similarly, yes, birthdays might have originated from some pagan tribes but none who celebrates birthday today does to with the intention, aim or meaning of promoting paganism or doing it just because it originated from pagans. They do it to celebrate the day on which people pass one more age and have fun with friends etc on this day. So, whether birthday celebrations originated from Pagans, Hindus, Christians, fire worshippers, the origin of the festival etc is irrelevant, the only relevance is how and why people celebrate birthdays today, which is to signify the occasion when people age one more year, not to signify its pagan origins, so, the purpose of celebration is important

@@RandPersonn Good morning, regarding the subject of birthday celebrations, I personally don't like and don't want to celebrate them, I find ordinary spontaneous and not obligatory family and close friends meetings much more pleasant than occasional and birthday parties, because the one who celebrates his birthday is usually in the center of attention like "the navel of the world", and the whole family sings "happy birthday", and the atmosphere at home is like a "circus",,, theater,But it's not the fault of family and friends that they follow these old patterns as if they don't know a good way to celebrate this day themselves

What i dont understand is that we are not celebrating birthday as a religious activity instead as dunya like travelling in air plane or using cell phones which wasnt discovered during Prophet Muhammads time and so we use these things as part of dunya and not religion. So if we cut a cake without blowing candles and without the believe that we have to blow and make a wish and just a small gathering amongst family members is it still not allowed? If so then why?

You can do that on any day; it doesn't have to be birthday. Like if you never knew about something called birthday, you wouldn't worry about celebrating, or throwing a party(big or small), etc. on this particular day, instead whenever convenient or possible or needed.
@fareehaamin6589

Its the intention behind that matters. If your intention is to celebrate the birthday then it may still be wrong. But doing a birthday with the candles, chanting (people singing birthday song), and state of meditation and wish (where u stare at the candle in that moment and making a wish and blowing it).. it is awful similar to demonic enchanting ceremony and may give harmful spirits around you power to harm you.

asslam alaiykoum, i have a question, If we celebrate the day of our birth by thanking Allah and worshiping Him for allowing us to live until this point and to be a Muslim, while also recognizing the accomplishments we have achieved during the past year, it can be a meaningful occasion. We can take this opportunity to make prayers or invocations, expressing gratitude for another year of life and for the blessings we have received. This can be done without blowing out candles, wishing a happy birthday, or engaging in any activities that are not in line with Islamic teachings.
