When my grandmother was in her sixties, we were seated with a family we didn't know. Grandma was talking to the little boy. He asked how old she was. Instead of answering, Grandma asked him, "How old do you think I am?" He said the only large number he knew, "About 100." Grandma and I laughed, the little kid didn't know what was so funny, and his parents looked mortified. Grandma said it served her right for asking him. I still laugh when I think about that story. He was a sweet, very sincere little boy. He's probably in his mid-forties now. And Grandma almost made it to 100, may she rest in peace. She died a few years shy of that.

That made me laugh out loud. When my husband was only 40 (and he looked great, too, still does) a teenager (backstory too long to tell here) referred to him as "Some old guy in the drive-through". 16 y.o. P.O.V. 🤣 We still laugh about it.

I'm 54. One of my granddaughters asked me one day how old I was, and I asked her how old she thought I was. She thought for a minute and said, "26" I said YES!!! You're exactly right. 😂 Kids are awesome.

My adult son came back from a walk in the woods with an armload of various evergreens and I stuck some in a large vase and added some artificial red berries. I've enjoyed it very much for the last three weeks especially the white pine which looks wispy and delicate in the arrangement. I made a similar swag for my kitchen window using a tension rod and it's spectacular. From now on I'll call it "the greening." I loved seeing your bottle collection with greens inserted. You're a clever lady.

Good evening Tipper, I so enjoy your yearly gathering of the greenery, you’re right it’s always pretty just about any way it’s put together. I wanted to mention the Eastern White Pine tree produces really good looking burrs if you could find some to add some place in your home. When I was little we would make a gum drop tree. We’d find a good limb from what we called a hog hall bush , it was probably a variety of hawthorns, but we didn’t know any better back then., anyway it has maybe an inch or so thorns on the limbs good to stick gum drops on, cram it into a little tub of sand to secure it straight up. Couldn’t help but want snitch one of the candies , but we did enjoy looking at it for a few days, first. My Daddy always loved to find a holly tree in the woods every Christmas , he said was already decorated with its red berries, maybe a few lights around it. He loved the more natural way of doing things . Y’all are doing a good job! I sure miss what I used to do, so now I’ll just enjoy watching your Christmas decorating. Thank you for sharing, sure means so much to me, I’m alone but grateful for friends like y’all to spend time with, Bless everyone there with love and peace. 🙏❤️🎄

I’m left handed also Katie. They told me when my daughter was little to sit across from her instead of beside her and that way she got a mirror image when I taught her things. Maybe you can use that if Ira is right handed. I sit in front of people when I take any craft or quilt classes. Hope that helps you in the future. Merry Christmas to all of y’all. I was a florist for many years I always used electrical ties to attach the hands together and also to attach the hand to the swag or wreath support. It worked great. Merry Christmas .

My brother works at a local farmers market that sells live Christmas trees. The last 2 or 3 years he has saved me some trimmings off the trees and I've been using those and some Christmas floral picks to green my home for Christmas. It has amazed me what a nice touch a little greenery can add to your Christmas decorations.

when you use the floral paddle wire you don’t cut the wire, you leave it on so the “paddle” is the “handle” and it is easier to wrap and easier on your fingers instead of all that twisting. That is the purpose of the“paddle” ladies. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

Just beautiful, and yes prettier than any other over the door you have done. I agree with Matt! I've bout decided I can do everything tomorrow since I have made the big items all ready. At least I didn't have to run to my neighbors tonight for soup---and all canned put together--yep--she can't cook. HAHA My sister had already made a Mexican chicken casserole with homemade sourdough bread. Lots better than soup--lol Now if it had of been homemade vegetable, that might have been a different story...but no way . Anyway I do like my neighbor even if she does come over unannounced 4 to 5 times a week---hahhaha. Daughter called crying missing mom, so we had a little cry fest. Tipper, the greenery around the door looks like something out of a Christmas magazine. It's not only beautiful but I'm sure the fragrance of it drifts through the house. I read an article about the memories of Christmas and how the abundance of scents like pine, cookies baking in the oven, cozy fires, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and oranges, trigger wonderful thoughts and makes us feel happy.
