My favorite nice celebrity story is how Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman let Mara Wilson stay with them while filming Matilda and Mara's mom was dying of cancer. They even put the film together super quick so that Mara's mom could see it before she passed away. It legitimately is my favorite nice celebrity story.

I love them both! Rhea was my favorite on Cheers because she was the Grand Mistress of Petty Snarkiness, but such a petite person! I laughed more at her lines than everyone else combined. I was sad to hear that their marriage ended. They seemed ideal for each other. I bet they remain close friends though, and still love each other. Thank you for sharing this, I had not known about their kindness but I'm not at all surprised.

I love Danny DeVito! My aunt was a teenager in the 80s, when he pumped out quite a few movies and loved him. She introduced me to him with Matilda when I was, I think, 6 or 7. I loved it, and him. Now I still love him, but I also really respect him. He's one of the few celebrities who has held onto himself for decades, and not let a heartless place steal his soul! Even when he played a bad guy he was so likeably hateable! I remember a movie I saw when I was about 10, though the name escapes me, where he and his GF kidnapped a woman, he was a real POS in it, and I think I laughed the whole way through it.

My best celebrity meet was Tom Hiddleston in Sydney in 2012. I met him in the hotel, I gave him some fanart (which he LOVED) and we rode an elevator together while he looked at my sketchbook and complimented my David Bowie art. I then shook his hand and left the elevator and let him go about his day in peace. He was SUCH a gentleman and so nice.

I met Selena at my local radio show when I was in 5th grade. Literally the SWEETEST and KINDEST human being. She took time to chat with me and all the kids there. I got to do a video with her and the radio show because I won their drawing. Selena was just so personable and genuinely invested in what I had to say. It warmed my heart thinking back she was so genuine to a 10 year old meeting her hero. I’d give anything for her to know just how much of a hero she still is to me.

True story - a friend of mine is a huge Susan Boyle fan and wrote her a couple of letters that Susan replied to. About 4 years ago, she was invited to the after party of one of her concerts. While sitting at a table, she felt someone hugging her from behind , turned and looked and it was Susan herself! Friends hubby snapped a pic and the expression of pure joy was amazing. A year later, Susan was neqr enough for friend to attend another concert. Susan remembered her! And was so sweet!

Me and my mum seen her at her local McDonald's, sadly she walked out before we could help but we walked in just as she was walking out. A bunch of idiots were bullying her, I don't know anything beforehand since we came through the door seconds before she left but I may have loudly called the idiots pathetic once we realised what had happened. I would have offered her a seat at our table if we were there sooner, my mum loves a good argument and hates bullying as much as I do so Susan would gave gotten peace to enjoy some greasy food.

I love how Anna went from being annoyed by the fan mail and gifts, to be livid that the assistant had no idea who she was I read once where John Wayne was very gracious with fans, taking time to talk, autographs etc. He was asked once does he get bother by people asking for autographs, or talking to him. His response was classic, " I would be more bother if they stopped". As that means they no longer care and will not support his work.

This is why when I do see a celebrity, I ignore them. Though in 1985 I was working at a store in NY. Mary Tyler Moore came in , I just greeted her like I would with everyone else. She then approached me for help and she turned out to be a regular customer of mine and she was very sweet. I realized why some people have said she was cold. It’s because she actually was a shy person.

I think the reason guy was weirded out that Selena Gomez was holding a real conversation with him is because celebrities don’t generally do that with either fans or regular people. Instead of rushing through to satisfy the fan, she was a normal person, having a normal conversation and being a genuinely nice person overall. She’s truly a rare gem in the famous circles and I think it really catches people off guard because we idolize celebs like they’re gods or something.

@@saracantrell7071 I got that vibe too, like "I'm so cool that when I meet a famous celebrity, I talk to them in this weird way, and later call THEM weird, 'cause I'm too cool to act like I'm impressed." I don't believe for a second that he actually spoke to her in such a dismissive manner. I'm not sure I believe he even met her. It sounds like Selena enjoys being treated like a normal person, so why would it be "weird" for her to have a little friendly chat with a stranger? If she hadn't been so nice and normal, his TikTok would be all about how snobby she was. My ex was like this. He's worked at Disneyland for 43 years and has seen countless celebrities. My ex is a narcissist who thinks he can do everything better than anyone else. He had stories about all the famous people he's talked down to and dissed at Disney, which is utter rubbish. He would have been fired long ago if he'd actually been anything but respectful.🙄 That's one of his weird flexes, bragging about being an A-hole!🤨

In 2016, Selena bought an electronic guitar set for a man around Christmas time. The story goes like this: This guy went to Guitar Center to buy a pedal, but there was only one person working in the store, and they were helping two other ladies who were there before him. Getting a little bored, he sat and played an electronic guitar he'd already seen in the store six months prior. One of the ladies then came up to him and started talking about music. She introduced herself as Selena from Grand Prairie, Texas, and asked him what type of set he had. She then offered to buy him the electronic guitar set he was playing and requested to hear him play. I'm guessing days after the encounter, he saw an article online about a woman donating to Cook's Children Hospital, and only then did he realize the lady who bought him a $5,000 electronic guitar set was Selena Gomez. This isn't the only time Selena has done something like this. She really is a sweetheart to everyone, whether they are her fans or not.

She wasn’t present at that event she mentioned and there’s proof Anna kept the fan mail from that book tour. Anna known for being awkward and dry, something I never interpreted as rude, but I guess it can be picked up that way by others and some accusations are just straight up lies or fabricated. I was impressed by the kindness of Dwight Yoakum. I was able to see him in concert several times at Buck Owens' bar, The Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, CA. He was always just a friendly, humble guy. One night after he did a full concert, he then spent the next couple of hours in the parking lot at his tour bus meeting with the fans. There were hundreds of people out there and he literally took the time to speak with each person, taking photos, signing merch, etc. He stayed until every single person was greeted. All class. I understand why most entertainers can't do that but why do you have to be rude and cold to the very people that put you where you are? It costs nothing to be kind.

Did she NOT ghost her childhood best friend, who literally saved her life by giving her a kidney? I've only heard stories, so that's why I'm asking? I do feel like she gave people suffering from Lupus & kidney failure a false sense of hope, though, not on purpose. She was gifted a kidney so quickly after the public heard about her being in need, which is MOST DEF NOT the norm. And the kidney wasn't even why I'm bitching. It's the fact that when someone is in need of a kidney transplant, for whatever reason, it's not as cut & dry as she made it out to be. The decision to have the surgery isn't really even up to the donor & recipient; it's all put in the hands of a surgeon because if he/she feels like UR surgery isn't going to be a "success," in their eyes, it won't be done at all! So basically, even if it's not going to add a positive "notch on the surgeon's belt" per say, then it's not considered a "success," and therefore won't be performed! Am I wrong by thinking that a person who gets to spend another day, or even min for that matter, living life & being with their loved ones is a complete success to the patient & those loved ones? And yes, I'm personally tied to this, as I have many candidates who could be potential donors, however, due to my Lupus being the cause of my, now, end-stage kidney failure diagnosis, I've been unable to find a surgeon(and there aren't many available) to perform the transplant. They've said that because a transplant won't cure my Lupus, it's not the "best option," right now. Well damn, the only other option is DEATH, soooo yeah!🤷🏼‍♀️

No, no, no. I have to fundamentally disagree with this one. When I was in college (about 20 years ago) I worked security at a local state fair. Super popular event pre-pandemic, so every year they had a pretty decent headliner. He was it one of the years I worked there, and lucky me (or as it turned out, not so lucky), I got assigned to his direct security. I will say, at no point was he directly rude to me. However, he was horrible to nearly everyone who spoke to him, including the head of security. His attitude sucked, he was unkind, but this part definitely takes the cake. So this is a state fair right? Tons of local schools do booths (as they make a lot of money). Sports teams, activity groups, you name it. Not too far away from the area there was a group of cheerleaders from a local school. He asked to get some of the cheerleaders up on stage. I thought it was a little weird to start because these were high schoolers and of all the groups around, cheerleaders? But whatever, it was a nice way for that group to get a little extra attention for their booth. Bring up a couple and as soon as they approach he turned to staff behind him and said (this was 20 years ago so it is not verbatim, but darn close), "What, we can't find any pretty cheerleaders? Are they all ugly and fat?" Hopefully he has changed since then, but he was not a nice man, just good at faking it, and I wish I had not met him.

Me too I even looked once on line for people that like her, no luck.. She doesn't deserve what she has. I do believe she MUST be a miserable human to treat others like that. Someone whom is happy would not treat others that way so feel bad for her I guess or think about the karma she is and will receive for treating other human beings, which is ALL THAT SHE IS, so horribly. She will get hers in the long run.. How sad for her to know that if she were to pass away tomorrow, no one, fans, would even be sad, people would speak about her like they do and what an awful" legacy" to have left behind when you are gone, everyone just remembering how bad she made them feel. She will get her karma, those that have to deal with her and people like her, just BE SO THANKFUL YOU ARE NOT THEM and continue to give love to those want to receive it.❤❤

Not sure why a book signing would be at a clothing store, but at least that would make sense why she'd charge to wear the store's clothes. It'd be like advertising for them. Same as product placement in movies. Book signing makes more sense at a book store, but very confusing why a stylist that's not her personal one would be trying to dress her.

8 years ago, I attended my first ever comic convention. I went with my mom and it was really crazy busy. Anyways, the main reason why I had attended was that a very well-known actor was attending who was on my favorite show Game of Thrones. One of the first things I did was buy a poster for him to sign and then went to look for where he was doing his signing. When I met him, he was such a sweet guy and very down to earth. He asked me for my name and signed my poster addressed to me. I asked him if he was working on anything and he was currently working on a big superhero movie. Hours later, I waited for my picture to be taken with him. Again, he was very friendly and not to mention, way taller in person. While we were waiting for our picture, he literally used my shoulder as an armrest. This well-known actor that I met was none other than Jason Momoa himself. I still have my picture and signed poster to this very day.

Honestly the Hilton sisters always try to be polite. They got a bad rap due to generational wealt. He said Reba was as sweet as you would think and Carrie was as nasty as you have heard. This upset him because his Mom was a big fan and he had to fib to her when asked how she was in person, he didn't want to upset his Mom so he told her she was nice and sweet. Before she got famous, Carrie Underwood went to college in my hometown. This was something I was initially proud of, as not many famous people are Oklahoma born and raised. There were a few people I knew that had either met her personally before she went on American Idol or knew someone who had. Negative reviews all around. Which was okay to me because I didn't like her music anyway. It just always bothers me when she appears on CMA commercials like she's a sweetheart or something when she has never been as such. It is kind of heartbreaking because most Oklahomans will give you the clothes off their backs if they have any... And then there's her. 💔 And she's apparently been awful for a very long time...

@@carrington2949I would say more than likely, yes. Pageant kids grow their whole lives hearing how beautiful, graceful, poised, blah, blah they are from an early age so it can easily screw kids that will grow into screwed up adults. It all goes to their head and they forget they’re people like everyone else. Just my opinion.

True that. I broke down on the road one time in Oklahoma. It was freezing cold, we were on the turnpike, my wife was sick... I spotted a house across a long field. I decided it was the only way I could use a phone. The sweet folks came outside and yelled at me that they'd already called a tow truck for us. I went back and told my wife help was on the way. The tow truck driver was a kind man. He called ahead, arranged for the repair shop to order the parts we needed. He got us into a hotel. He said it would take 2 to 3 days to get the parts and fix the vehicle. The chief of police came down and talked to me... I had just tucked my sick wife in bed. The chief said do you have enough to cover the stay. I said just barely, and he said okay, pack up your stuff in the morning, you're coming and staying at my house. So the next three days we stayed with the chief. I have nothing but good to say about the people of Oklahoma. When our car was fixed, all the tow truck driver would take was a check for the cost of the parts. The chief wouldn't take a cent. Instead they handed me an envelope and said here's some traveling money. I said I get paid the end of month. They said no, don't send us money. Pay it forward. So I stop and help people when they're in trouble on the road because of the good people of Oklahoma.

The Selena story is 100% accurate. I had to shoot a remote with her , and went into it not really knowing much about her (obvs I knew who she is , but no feelings for or against her). She IS very sweet, and nice. Funny, engaging, and GENUINE. It was DEF one of my better 'celebrity' interactions. The first time he almost ran me over in front of the Jerome Hotel in Aspen, the second time , I was peeking in the window of his Lear jet while it was getting serviced in Broomfield( I didn't know it was his) and the 3rd, I got seated next to him on a commercial flight. She would constantly get mad at them and call the cops on my aunt and her bestfriend. One time when my aunt was having a party (that Carrie was invited to) she came and banged on the door yelled at them and eventually called the cops on them. Funnily enough all the cops did was just ask them to turn the music down because Carrie would call the cops a lot and they were kind of annoyed by it at that point in time.. lmao she used to be a literal Karen!!😂😂

I worked in Hollywood in the 90s as a corporate receptionist for a MAJOR tv production company (think Golden Girls, Soap, Blossom, etc). Being the first contact, when we had casting calls the actors had to stop at my office first and wait there until they were called. Without fail, EVERY SINGLE B LISTER was a dick to me. The A listers (with maybe one or two exceptions) were always nice as hell to me. A Listers know what B Listers don't--reputation is everything in Hollywood. Even if their niceness was faked, they know that production companies will check with receptionists and assistants to see if the actor was considerate because they don't want to waste money on actors who are going to throw tantrums and be a general nuisance. In all my tenure there, the only A lister who was not worth the time and money was Melanie Griffith. There was a reason her pilot failed. p.s. I met Brad Pitt. He was a sweetheart.

Okay so AWESOME story about meeting Bruce Campbell earlier this year. Bruce has been my horror idol since I was a kid so meeting him for the first time, I was beyond excited. I had everything planned out in my head but of course when it came time to meet him, my socially anxious ass froze. My boyfriend and I walked up, he clearly could tell who was the fan because I had a grin from ear to ear. 😂 He said hello and started signing my DVD case that I brought. I talked for a second but I was so nervous that I was being really short and honestly really awkward. He noticed within like fifteen seconds how nervous I was and instantly started asking me about myself. About where I live and what I do for work, mostly. Okay, so I panicked and lied about where I lived because he grew up in the town I live in so I didn't want to seem like I was lying even though I wasn't, but social anxiety be weird like that. Lmao Anyways, when I told him about my job I said "I'm just a manager at a gas station". He stopped me and said "no no no, you say it like THIS. I'm the MANAGER of a gas station. Never put yourself down like that, being the manager of any of these savages is a thing to celebrate." When I tell you that two minute interaction with Bruce telling me to be nicer to myself was the highest point of my life. 😭

I was such a huge fan and was so excited to be with him, but he was so dismissive and rude the whole time. He put down the way I talked and said I would never make it in the industry with it because I'd just annoy the casting directors so much. It definitely put me off of voice acting and I did a few small gigs before ultimately dropping it. Any teacher worth their salt can instruct without petty insults. It sucks that you were treated that way by someone you admired. I've been there, though it was a musician I liked at the time. As someone who's worked in entertainment - and who has been to several conventions and met a lot of VAs - most of them are extremely clique-y and think that not just anyone can do their job. A lot of them also have over-inflated egos and will act as if they are as famous as A-list or B-list celebs. I'm not surprised he's one of them, but I'm sorry all the same. I was in Sudbury, Ontario, for university, and I was downtown grocery shopping. I came out of the mall, arms full of bags, looking for a cab. A cab had pulled out and a man was getting out and paying... he saw me and rushed over to help me with my bags.. he was so kind. I settled in the cab after the former passenger had left, and the driver says to me "Do you know who that was?". I did not (but I should have... I was music director and a DJ for my university radio station)... it was Alice Cooper without his makeup on. He was in town to give a concert. I will never forget how he came to my rescue to help me and put my bags in the trunk of the taxi.

The way I knew the NYE celeb was Carrie underwood 😂 worked in Nashville for years and she was notorious for this kind of behavior. When she hosted the CMAs, she would make us clear the hallway before she would walk to stage. No one could stand anywhere near her dressing room during rehearsals. Meanwhile Brad paisley talked to everyone and shook all our hands and said thank you 😂

I’m so happy to hear that about Brad Paisley! I’d never even heard of him until I was scrolling through the radio stations and happened upon this song that was just starting. When the song ended, I called the station BAWLING and dang near incoherent; asking them what the song was called and who the artist was. It was Brad Paisley, singing; ‘He Didn’t Have To Be’. I’ve been a fan of his ever since! 🥹

I've meet a few celebrities but the sweetest one was without a doubt Dierks Bentley!!! So nice and humble. I spoke to him about watching him live at a rodeo in Texas and he just starts talking about how much he loves it there and had just gotten back from visiting. Starts talking about music and other songwriters and artists. He probably would've kept on talking but then my coworker walked up and asked for a picture. Which he graciously accepted. So, now I forever have a memory of myself and Dierks!!! ❤

Agreed. Back when he was still doing state fairs and small venues my husband and I saw him like 10 times in 2 years. Even for my Dec birthday we drove to KY to see him. He was really nice and told me happy birthday when my husband told him that seeing him was what I wanted for my birthday present. I'd met him the previous summer in WI. The last time I saw him was at Joe's on Weed St in Chicago. He was so drunk that he couldn't remember the lyrics. I was disgusted and stopped spending my money on his concerts.

Was an extra on set once with Selena and she was so professional even the scene took forever and was pretty demanding. She took time to chat with extras and complimented my outfit. The most genuine and professional celebrity I’ve ever met. That guy’s story totally tracks!
