I've had the pleasure of meeting Hayden Christensen twice at his meet and greets in two separate comic conventions. The first time, I brought my 9 month old daughter with me who was very very upset about the crowd. Luckily the line to meet him wasn't terribly long. The photo op was quick, but my daughter didn't want me to put her down in the stroller. He said it was fine for her to take the photo with us and even commented at how cute she was, but she made the biggest pouty crying face ever. This made the photo so memorable that when we went to meet him again about a year later, he remembered us. At this point, my daughter was diagnosed with autism and is still non-verbal, not many people know how to react when they're around her. I brought our picture from the first time we met Hayden and he said "oh I remember this! Your baby has grown soooo much!". He then grabbed my daughter and I to come closer and took the picture with us. This time, she was much more happy and Hayden held our picture. It really warmed my heart that he remembered us, but it meant so much more thar he treated my daughter with love and respect. I proudly have our pictures with him hung up in our living room.

Many years ago before I had kids (my oldest is 45 yrs old this year) I worked at a London theatre as wardrobe mistress on a very popular show - a French travestie (high class drag) show. Because it was so popular we had a lot of celebs coming through, and entertaining the cast. One celeb (now long time deceased - a very famous British Drag star) was different though. Word went out after the show that everyone was invited to his party. Those of us backstage did what we always did - we continued working. Until... the celeb himself came backstage, spoke to each and every one of us, and made sure we came to the party too. Not just that, but he personally took eack of us to the bar, checked our name, what our favourite drink was, and made sure our bill went straight to his tab. Very impressed by him.

My friend's sister is a lawyer and she spilled her paperwork all over the train as she got on, he happened to be there, helped her pick up her papers, and struck up a conversation. She's Indian and for the entire length of the train ride (about 15 minutes) he conversed with her and asked questions, then joked that since she makes authentic Indian food, he'd just "have to try it sometime" before wishing her well and getting off. The first time she came in she had a long conversation with me while I was helping her out and then she bought a $10,000 drum set for a complete stranger and then went to his church the following Sunday. The 2nd and 3rd encounters were her just coming in for small purchases but she remembered my name and gave me a hug both times, completely unprovoked, and was super nice to my coworkers. And 2 of these encounters were from when she was still struggling with her illness, so to be extremely nice to everyone and being so generous while almost dying…..amazing woman 100%

I remember seeing a shirt from a live she did with her fans and she found out that they were sending her money through super chats. And when someone in the room explained to her that she was actually getting real money she looked horrified. She genuinely looked ready to cry at the thought of her fans just sending her money unprompted. You could tell she was just thinking of how hard these people have worked for the money they have and how terrible the economy is with inflation and housing/renting costs. I feel like most other celebs would’ve just been like “oh guys, you don’t have to do that!” And not do anything else about it. And I’m sure many more would’ve just ignored it all together. But Selena immediately begged people to stop sending money and iirc tried to find a way to refund the money that was already sent. I remember being so touched by how much she cared. It’s moments like that that really show someone’s true character. And for her to remain so genuine and humble in the entertainment industry is truly remarkable. It’s a business that changed even the best of people. But from every account I’ve heard and the interactions I’ve seen of her online, I really feel like she is one of the kindest people on this planet.

On the flip side of the meeting a famous person and them turning out to be horrible, it's really great when you meet someone who maybe is portrayed on television in kind of a bad light and they turn out to be totally kind and nice in person. I met Bret Michaels from the band Poison about 15 or so years ago in Nashville TN, not sure if this was before or after his tv reality show "Rock of Love" but when we pulled into the parking lot at the bar where his concert was, he was outside his bus and I walked up and started talking to him (I had loved him and Poison back in my high school days in the 80s) and we had a wonderful conversation. He was so friendly, asking me all kinds of questions. Turns out our daughter's were born the same week and we both are diabetics and I talked to him about tattoos (I had just gotten my first tat right before the concert). After the show, he invited the entire audience out to the bus to sign autographs and he stuck around til about 3 in the morning signing.

I tend to drop everything for her if she needs me (emotionally, not for nonsense). She needed me to help with her with some documents that related to an area I’m more knowledgeable about than her, but she expected me to come to her. It’s 50 miles away, and I very respectfully told her she’d have to drive here, as at the time I had dog that had just had surgery, and I was the a-hole. Is she a total B? No. There isn’t a human on earth who hasn’t been an a-hole to someone.

I have one. The skincare brand The Inkey List. I used to be an influencer back in 2018-2020 but I stopped when the pandemic happened. Anyway, they reached out to me offering to send a pr package and wants me to review their products, it was the time when The Inkey List wasn’t even famous on skincare Instagram & they’re giving out a bunch of packages to influencers to establish a name in the space. After I told them yes, that I would love to work with them & sent my information, they just seen-ed my DMs, then proceeded to ghost me. I would rather have a brand, contact me then say “oh I’m sorry that was a mistake” or say any excuses rather than just Silence. They’re the only brand that did that to me. The korean skincare brand, Cosrx was great though, they’re my favorite. Constantly talking to their influencers & is actually good skincare brand.

I was thinking that may be what it was. I have the opposite- I’m allergic to heat. For the longest time I thought it was in my head cause it didn’t sound like it was something that could be real. But I break out in hives when I’m too hot- if I try jogging, if I set the water too hot in the shower, if it’s over 95 degrees out, I just break out in hives. It’s awful. I finally brought it up to my allergist a few years ago, thinking maybe it was something I was wearing or my detergents. Turned out it was the heat all along. It’s interesting to know it works the other way, too.

On the topic of wasteful shipping, I got a temporary job at a clothing department where I'd literally spend 4-8 hours just unwrapping deliveries. On the short end of those shifts, I'd fill an entire cage (just under 7 feet high, maybe 3 feet wide footprint) packed with plastic waste, and there'd often be lots of paper inserts to chuck out as well. The majority of items are individually wrapped in baggy plastic sleeves, some bagged within other bags, some bundled together but individually wrapped inside, and rarely items would actually be bundled together and wrapped in just one bag. This is just for products that were already stored within the company at a warehouse to be shipped out. Excessive packaging waste isn't an influencer-specific phenomenon. The amount of waste products that businesses like supermarkets and other box stores generate is truly eye watering.
@KDbelieves Жыл бұрын
Me too. I can confirm this. I used to process clothes for a department store. Let's say I have to process a box of turtle necks. The box would be wrapped in plastic. Then when you open it, the clothes are in a huge plastic bag. After that. Each clothing item will have it's own separate bag. They would also have this wrapping paper between each item to prevent wrinkles. Not to mention lots of plastic beads to absort moiture in each individually packed item. Then, in each box there is the price tickets that you have to attach. One box of 12 turtle necks can fill a jumbo sized trash bag. I processed at least 20 of these boxes everyday.
@secretninja247 Жыл бұрын
I feel this too, I worked at a shop and we’d get online orders and I’d offer to open the box for them to make it easier to take home. They usually happily said yes. I remember opening a box about A4 paper size and 10cm tall….it’d had a single eye shadow it…no joke wrapped in cardboard like paper. I understand it’d be too expensive to make custom boxes for every product but they could have literally sent that in a padded envelope! Don’t know who found it more ridiculous the customer or me 😂

Dana says- My mom has cold urticaria. The allergic reaction happens when your exterior gets cold, not your insides. So, she can drink and eat cold things just fine. It can cause break-outs, and even cause her throat to constrict/close up in certain circumstances.

Having an allergy to the cold is typically a skin condition. As a child, when my skin was exposed to cold (snow and cold water), my skin would break out in large, burning, itchy hives/welts after 20 minutes. I eventually outgrew my allergy. One of my cousin's daughters also has the same condition.
@kristamarie61042 жыл бұрын

It's our skin that gets hives from the cold temperature of the environment, and changes in temperature from warm to cold that are not gradual. So that influencer was not exposed!!!

Honestly I found it priceless Charlotte putting the disclaimer out, or explaining why so many pictures are on display of her at her house. Love you Charlotte 😂😂🥰🥰

I actually have cold urticaria also! Honestly, ice cream and cold drinks doesn't make it flare up, though. It took me years of allergy testing, and food journals to figure out what it was. If my body temp falls too low, I will start getting random hives, the bottoms of my feet will swell up and the tips of my fingers. Sometimes my tongue will swell. It is VERY painful. I was swimming every day for like two hours, and it was making my body temp fall. I didn't figure it out until I went to Colorado and was panning for gold in a VERY cold creek and my hands swelled up so bad. It is a very strange and painful allergy to have and happens at really weird times!

Omg, that bit at the end of the video about the self portraits!! I have been gifted GIANT prints of photos of myself from my mother before, and was in the same place of being scared people actually believe I want to see a HUGE self portrait everyday! I'm a leo and I believe in self love- but my god that was a mortifying time in my home. I hate being in the room of people seeing photos of me. That huge photo ended up getting ruined and I kept it as a digital copy instead- as is preferred.

I have Cold Urticaria (cold allergy) too and it's actually a condition that mainly affects the skin. The nerves inside of your mouth and throat are actually a lot more resistent so it's very rare for it to also prevent you from eating cold things. The main symptoms occur after you've been outside below a certain temperature (or when you hold ice cubes to your skin etc.), you get rashes that are red and itchy and your skin starts being very hot.

The story with the guy getting the trash 1:53 reminds me of some girls I used to sit with. They would set their trash on my friend and I’s side of the table then we started putting back on their side. They would say oh no,we don’t throw trash away it’ll ruin our nails or I never throw my trash away. So my best friend and I would get as much trash and food as we could under their side of the table and they’d be called back into the cafeteria to clean it up.

Being allergic to cold things has to do with temperature most of the time. So if you get cold quickly you go into anaphylactic shock. Like going swimming and the water is really cold. Some people have it worst than others, but I don’t think ice-cream would change your temperature fast enough.
@ajhallatt97132 жыл бұрын
Your absolutely right. I have it, and a swimming pool makes me break out into full body hives but ice cream is no issue.
@jodicaryn2 жыл бұрын
@@ajhallatt9713 exactly! I was swimming for 1-2 hours a day and could not figure out why I would get random hives and swelling in my extremities. One time my tongue swelled up and I couldn't talk. Thank goodness it was the tip of my tongue and not the back! It took me two years to figure out what the problem was, even seeing an allergist, because no one thought about body temp. I was getting skin tests and keeping food journals. It wasn't until I went gold panning and my hands swelled so bad I couldn't bend my fingers for two days for a doctor to go, OH! Cold allergy! It's definitely a weird one.

I have cold urticaria and unfortunately if I ate ice cream like that my lips would blister and my tongue would swell. Also my finger tips would probably swell just from the coolness of the cone as I held it. With that being said I still eat ice cream - just have to use a spoon and not touch the bowl. My tongue and throat will still swell slightly but it’s worth it.

I don’t swim much, but I got really freaked out when I got out of the pool one day, went to change, and found hives all over. I knew I’d get it from the cold, but didn’t expect that. I live in Wisconsin and would always be extra careful if I went out to shovel that if I started to feel lightheaded I came inside. I’d usually also call someone if I got lightheaded in the cold and talk until the hives started to clear (because I live alone). Thankfully I never had it so bad that there was a medical emergency, but you can never be too careful.

That's not how urticaria worksss. I have chronic idiopathic urticaria triggered by heat/sweat, caffeine, and sugar. Doesn't mean I'm allergic to those things, just means they're a trigger for a skin condition to be actively avoided. 😂
@lexwithbub2 жыл бұрын
If you have to avoid something because it causes you to break out in a rash, it's definitely easier to just say you're allergic though. You don't need to give strangers the full medical explanation.
@danielleaustin22922 жыл бұрын
@lexwithbub Easier, yes. Accurate, no. It's easy to say "I avoid cold things."
@lexwithbub2 жыл бұрын
@@danielleaustin2292 yeah I agree, but you also don't need to be accurate with people you don't have a relationship with. You do you, but if other people find it easier to just say "I'm allergic" when out and about because people tend to respect "allergy" more than "intolerance", let them do them 😊

8:59 it is possible to send packages without creating waste (only about the wrapping, not thinking of the delivery)- for example reusing boxes or paper, or using cloth (like cutting a piece of clothing that’s not usable anymore instead throwing it out)

Man if I met you, you'd be like...please God go away. I'd fangirl hard haha. I'm not in Canada though, but I get the same hilarious reactions you do, and I find myself saying the same thing before you say it. It's hard to find genuine people online. They say never meet your heroes, but I feel it would be different meeting KZbinrs like you and bailey sarian, Brittney Vaughn, and that chapter. I'm true crime, but I also watch you for a relaxing laugh with my daughter. Thank you for all the hard work, and we can't wait to see your series!!!!

I'm actually allergic to the cold as well, and I can eat icecream cause your mouth and insides warms itself back up to quick to have a reaction. Ice, cold air, unwarmed bodies of water (not heated pools tho) and more can trigger it tho, hives all over.

The Ned Fulmer stuff is true, and MESSY, but the Try Trio is doing well again! And handling this like absolute champs. Oh and as far as the editing, they didn't just take him out, they made it HILARIOUS.

I heard a nice story about this guy who is a political commentator and is well known in certain circles but not a national name. His got to go as a plus-one to a party for a politically active Hollywood A-lister. It was a casual event with a lot of A-lister friends. He was thrilled just to meet these people in person but was overwhelmed that several of them recognized him and wanted to get his opinion on topics. It was good to hear how friendly and non-egotistical they were and how they made this guy’s week!
