This new video addresses in a practical manner what is technically possible within Melodyne. The use of multiple vocal tracks while editing and applying harmonization is truly remarkable. Using actual song tracks within the presentation is extremely helpful. Nice job!

Yes, agreed on the comments below. Melodyne is the King in pitch and time correction, however it is very difficult to wrap your mind around navigating around the software. A GUI update is much needed. It feels too technical and does not inspire to be creative while editing. Anyhow, off to upgrading to Melodyne Studio. Its on sale now. ❤

I think it's a very balanced and practical GUI without too much hidden behind context menus. It just takes time to learn just like any very powerful tool.

10:33 -- This is the one thing I was trying to figure out how to do in newer versions of Melodyne: hearing all the notes in a chord while sliding. All you have to do is drag the note as usual, then hold Command after the initial click-hold. This is under "Monitoring pitch shifts" in the manual, for more info.
@celemony9 күн бұрын
Yes, sometimes it pays to read the manual. 😉 Thanks for sharing!

Yours are some of the best instructional videos I've seen. You keep them clear, dense with new content, and musically sensible. Thanks so much!

I wish melodyne would make it so the different tracks where different colors to make it a lot easier to see the difference between them. Seems like a no brainier to me but seems they don't want to do that for some weird reason. Should be a free upgrade. They should make a macro that will align vocals like Vocal align does.

for once, the description of HOW to do something in Studio, is SHOWN SLOWLY... no quick mouse moves.... thus making the watching of the video worthwhile. I have owned Studio since it's inception... but there NEVER was any instructional videos that went slowly enough and explained WHAT the mouse was actually clicking on in the entire screen, and THE purpose of what the ICON was going to do. Sensho goes slow enough, explains SLOWLY the BEFORE and AFTER and BEFORE (back to the start) of each possibility of what he is explaining. I GREATLY appreciate HIS approach in HIS videos. Maybe NOW I can finally start to USE STUDIO.. instead of it just being something I bought, but never could get to work correctly.

Thanks, I was on Revoice but after this tutorial.. Melodyne is unbeatable. But isnt it time to some "redesign" up to 2023 interfaces? I mean it has its own beauty, but maybe some simplification of the design?

@@celemony Thanks a lot for your feedback! I dont want to mention competition companies, but I must say one: if we took best from Reason (shortcuts, workflow) and Melodyne (precission, sound) and combine it, theoretically it would be best vocal software ever. The fact is: In Reason I was able to tune vocals much faster (f.e. shift + mouse scrolling - moving track forward). The first thing what I would look on to is zooming the material in Melodyne, its quite confusing. Better would be, if shift + wheel is moving in track. Secondly: It would be great, if basic tools like CUT, tool to move tones, formant tool was prioritized. Maybe its about longer training, but the thing is in Cubase or Reason im able to move through track and do my job quicker. But anyway, dont get this as critics, you're doin amazing job guys. Thanks a lot.

@@celemony and about the graphics: the UI seemed still like "stuck" in 2000. Maybe get rid of the "shadows" on the icons, different colors (f.e. bigger difference between workspace and UI - now all is grey)
@celemony10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the details! In Melodyne, you can actually scroll with the mouse wheel, too. With the Shift key held down, you should also be able to scroll horizontally. Holding Option/ALT + Command will turn your mouse pointer into the Zoom tool which you then can easily drag across the area that you wish to see closer. Alternatively, double-click on a blob or a selection of blobs with the Zoom tool to zoom in and double-click on the background to zoom out again. If you use a trackpad, the usual two-finger gestures for scrolling and zooming are also supported. Regarding the tools, are you aware that you can right-click anywhere in the editing area to open the toolbar for easy access? Furthermore, there are quite a few keyboard shortcuts for navigation as well as for accessing the tools you need. You might want to check the available shortcuts (or create your own) in the Melodyne Preferences. Hope this helps. 🙂

I do like Melodyne and the YT videos are brilliant but I saw a video yesterday for an alternative product (beginning with R 😊) that allows plot points to be added to a “blob” rather than splitting a note and then working on it. I agree the look could be updated a bit. It’s got the look of a spreadsheet at the moment. Oh, and while I’m at it, ARA in Logic M1 without going into Rosetta would be most welcome
@celemony10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! Melodyne also comes with these “plot points”, we call them Time Handles. 🙂 Regarding native ARA support in Logic on Silicon, we’re all waiting for an update from Apple to bring ARA back. Not much we can do about it at this point...

6:50 When I use the editing mix slider I still only hear the currently selected track in Ableton and not the doubles. Does it matter if I use vst3 vs au2? Or what would cause this? I'm currently own melodyne editor and have got the trial of studio.

ok, so i have duplicated my lead vocal twice as i want to mess around with some harmonies. Melodyne is on all 3 of them. When i hit the track list i dont get the record button and no transfer button appears. Even when i grey out the lead vocal, any changes i make amends every track. Im at a loss. What am i doing wrong?

Before you can see and edit any tracks in Melodyne, you need to transfer the audio into Melodyne. If you have a DAW that supports ARA, you should be able to find a corresponding command (e.g. ’Edit with Melodyne’) in the menu. If you need help with this, please feel free to get in touch with our Tech Support team: www.celemony.com/support - Thanks!

S’s in Melodyne editing can have weird artifacts I don’t use it. Just clip gain in pro tools

Actually Melodyne doesn’t touch the sibilants when you tune any notes. Or do you mean the Sibilant Balance tool? If so, it only affects the levels (just like Clip Gain) and shouldn’t introduce any artefacts. I really love Melodyne, but this whole multi track alignment thing is so, so convoluted and time consuming. I have Vocalign Pro to do this, it's pretty much one button and it's done. Melodyne could really do with learning from Synchro on this, nobody has got the time for all this bottom up stuff. I'm sure Melodyne could do this easily with existing code. Pleeeaaase!
