one thing i love about Ron’s gone wrong is that the kids act a lot more realistic than in other animated movies. The bullies usually aren’t just outright mean directly to the main character’s face. they will try to be nice to them because they think they’re actually being nice, but you can tell how much they don’t want to talk to you and that’s what can hurt the mc’s feelings the most. obviously it’s not the most realistic interaction but (coming from someone who may or may not be talking from personal experience lol) it’s better than the “give me your lunch money dweeb!” kind of bully.

I remember going through something similar. They would say hi and be all buddy buddy with me despite them barely knowing me. They knew I didn’t like it and that’s why they kept doing it. The teachers wouldn’t do anything cause they’d think it was just normal.

Inside Job is amazing for probably being forced to use the rick and morty style by the executives. They were probably held at gunpoint to choose between the family guy, big mouth, or rick and morty style and chose the one they could best work with. And they work with it great, the animation is the smoothest and most lively I've seen in a while

Thank you for calling out the hypocrisy of blaming the kids themselves for being obsessed with technology, during my childhood my mother never let me go outside by myself and a lot of other parents did the same but they didn't want to go outside with us. Hell my elementary school had play equipment in the middle of the school yard they boarded up because it was deemed dangerous, so none of use built up that monkey bar upper body strength. Lawsuits and helicopter parents ruined outside play and as it was eloquently put technology was shoved in kids faces to keep them quiet. Now that's rolled over into modern parenting because the millenial parents weren't allowed to play outside either.

Yeah. I can’t say much because I nannied, and I was less inclined to play outside with the kids I babysat, (because when I turned 18, my youth and energy was sucked from me I guess.) But we can find ways to preserve energy when letting kids explore and expend their energy. My solution was bringing a book and sitting down while the kids played on the playground. Sometimes, I’d play too, which is vital. But yeah, kids don’t play outside because parents don’t wNt to.

I've watched all of Maya and the Three earlier this week, and I definitely recommend it! The pacing is off at times, but everything else is just so superb! Especially the animation and the characters! Chimi being the highlight for me, for reasons y'all would have to watch the show to find out. My only nitpick about Maya is that the setting is very clearly Pre-Columbian Americas, with Maya's kingdom being based off of the Mexica (otherwise known as the Aztecs). Yet all the characters pepper Spanish terms in their dialogue, when Spanish is a completely foreign language that was forced on the Mexica and other natives by those damned conquistadors. Like, I know the creators are Mexican, with Spanish being the primary language of Mexico, and older languages like Nahuatl (the original Mexica language) can be difficult to learn. But it'd be like a show taking place in Ancient Rome but having the Romans speaking Italian instead of Latin.
@ambarm.1034
@ambarm.1034 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it also threw me off the language part. Like why would they use terms like mijita, or hermanos or stuff like that instead of using nahualt language which is very much alive. Also It doesnt make sense to have mexicas names like Micte, Mictlan, Batz, but then using spanish words. Its really weird.

Ron's Gone Wrong was very smartly written. I love the idea that Ron having no functional programming means that both he and Barney need to learn how to be friends from scratch, the right way, the _real_ way. Great contrast with the other "best friend out of the box" bots, and great commentary on not only technology reliance, but what it means to be a friend.

0:13 to 0:32 Here's something that needs to be made clear: a RIPOFF is a product whose value is worth way less than the price shown. A KNOCKOFF is a product or concept that has very similar aspects to a pre-existing product or concept, in an attempt to steal consumers. In this instance, you would use the word KNOCKOFF, although that's a little unfair to refer to Locksmith's first movie (Ron Gone Wrong) as such.

The only real pacing issues I felt was Pichu being an official member of the team after just half an episode, but that makes a bit more sense because while his past is tragic, he knows who he is and what he's worth, unlike some of the others. The other thing I noticed was that the mountain people went from, "Go sacrifice yourself" to "we'll fight with you" for no apparant reason. I'm okay with it, though, because this show is amazing and the most nearly perfect thing I've ever witnessed.

Agreed about the kids outside part. I would go wandering around my neighborhood for hours with the local kids, and my elementary school actually had a huge playground with a ton of equipment to play on. Now parents freakout if their kids are missing for an hour, and that same elementary school has now torn down most of their playground equipment(not replaced, paved over). They moved the 5th and 6th graders to a new middle school, which has a grass lawn and two hop-scotch and four square in the driveway of a loading dock.

I watched an interesting comment posted in another video by Matt Laskowski, one of the artists from the background animation team, that i would like to share with you: "I was an artist on the show, one of the Background Artists, and this show was a blast to work on through the entirety of the 2020 lockdowns with a super talented team. (My fav key BG’s I worked on are the skull finger lair exteriors, ‘the growing years’ kitchen, the flooding atrium, and infamously the wrecked office with the Loss meme lool.) Nice to see mostly positive reviews coming in, the more people want it, the more likely we can come back for future seasons! Thanks for specifically pointing out that the show isn't RIck & Morty, because I feel like anyone who says it is honestly hasn't actually watched the show and just repeating what someone else said. There are other elements in the writing/story/art why I can understand some people may not be into it, but giving it a pass cuz you think it’s just knockoff Rick & Monty is misinformed. If you got Netflix it's definitely at least worth checking out, but give it through episode 3 -- the pacing and story scopes settle down a bit after the first 2 episodes, you know how pilot episodes can be as the writers and storyboarders settle in and get comfortable with the characters and setting."

on the topic of kids not going outside, there's also been a discussion happening (mostly in some Millennial/gen z focused subreddits and other such spaces) about how there just isn't as much outside that's accessible to kids anymore - there's far fewer parks and they're harder to get to (especially for kids since so many American neighborhoods in particular were built to revolve around cars, not people walking, and many neighborhoods don't even have sidewalks!), while everything else is private property or otherwise heavily off limits. Or costs money to access. So where exactly 'outside' are kids supposed to even go? Play in the streets?? cos that's all that's left for most kids these days.

I watched episode one of star trek prodigy. Very surprised at how much more solid it was then expected I feel nick put a lot of their TMNT 2012 team on it as it has a lot of the same visual kick of the latter half of that series

Props to Inside Job to never hand waving the behavior of the abusive dad like most adult cartoons. Hell, with every shitty thing he does, the next thing he does makes him MUCH worse

5:00 Personally I thought it was because the lake I used to go to as a kid was filled in for land development before my younger now phone addicted sister could enjoy it. If there's one thing I think is making people so technology driven is that there's no more outside left to enjoy.

I honestly think I might prefer Inside Job to Rick and Morty because I get the sense the writers are actually interested in telling the stories. Plus the dynamic between Reagan and her Dad feels more unhealthy like it should be, he's a crappy person who has done terrible things to her, where in Rick and Morty, Rick is often exhumed of all his wrong doings and Morty just accepts it.

I really like how Inside Job hasn’t tried to go down the cliche redemption arc for her dad and is showing that he really is a piece of human garbage that’s not just “misunderstood” and doesn’t try and downplay the negative aspects. I’m already imagining Reagan snapping and becoming the ultimate threat to the company since her dad now runs it. Maybe she try’s to go right for the Shadow Triangle guys since her dad is to good at being awful. That’s just me theorizing though, there are so many roads this show can go down.

another reason that kids don't play outside is that the ones that live in cities are terrified they are gonna be run over, and the ones that live in the suburbs don't have anywhere to go

I watched Nightmare On Elm Street for the first time. I already knew what was gonna happen because I like Dead Meat, but I still liked it. I liked a lot of the character writing, and it really helped to know some behind the scene info before watching it. My only gripe is that some things just kinda happen with no explanation. My only other note worthy watch this month was Lupin the 3rd: Castle of Cagliostro. I had watched some of it before, yet never actually finished it. It was really good, and I watched the dub so I got all the weird Wolf info. Currently thinking about how it could be adapted into a stage play.

When I was a kid, there wasn’t a risk of chemical burns from walking through waterways in local woods. I went back as an adult, and there are chemical warning signs everywhere, because it’s downstream from a business that has legal chemical runoff.

I've been loving Komi and Blue period, the former on top of being funny is just really sweet and I love having something about social anxiety that's very sympathetic about it. And blue period ♥️ You can tell the creators have as much love for the subject as the characters do, and it's been really nice seeing a good show about our kids trying to make their way. I really like the cast and it's been very charming so far so and I'm looking forward to it making me cry later in the season. I've gotten to nothing else yet but I'm very excited to actually start inside job and I'm probably going to do that today 🐱

Maya and the Three made me so happy to watch. There was SO MUCH reference to current and pre-columbian cultures that I am really waiting to find a Mexican reviewer who will go into it. Like the fact Death can transform into an owl... or the fact the brujas are called brujas and are represented by chickens/roosters... or the fact the moon is a skull... or the warriors wear jaguar skins... ALL of these things, and more, have a history behind them and I got to see these parts of my culture ~animated~ (cries) Also tagalog was included as a language in there. So I just want folks to know that "Mexico" is a culturally diverse place, always has been and always will be. Especially now. So seeing diverse people and diverse languages is accurate. But more than that, no one's cultural fantasies need to be grounded in historical realism to begin with. Otherwise you are giving leg room to the jerks who think bipoc folk don't belong in "traditional" european fictional stories; and you're inviting an arguement that can only ever end by using historical proofs. And frankly, I don't think we need anyone's participation in fantasy to be justified by ghosts, let alone for the sake of those sort of crusty-caulk-nozzles.

As far as inside Job the joke about Good and plenty candies with my favorite joke of the whole series. My dad loves those things I went occasionally trick me as a child into eating them by telling me it was medicine because they look like a pill. When magic Mike called them licorice flavored rabbit turds I laughed so hard I nearly passed out
