I really liked the whale episode How people just gave up, sunfish tried cheering them up, needing to find to help in the right way, the whale sacrificing herself to help others by feeling their sadness for them, how horrible a life without pain & sadness is and the whale’s song was like I won’t tell but I’m gonna eat you

That episode was really emotionally heavy. It still hits me hard every time I watch it. I didn't think it was possible to ruin amusement parks but they did
@RubiconArt3 жыл бұрын
It's a really, really powerful metaphor for uh. unaliving. Like. The idea that trying to escape that emotion, trying to drown it so you don't feel sad, that won't work. Sunfish Merguy's games and attractions didn't work because there's something inside that's broken, and no amount of fun will fix it. Wamawink's advice - sitting in your grief, accepting it as part of you - is a real part of how to deal with grief in life. Games won't fix it, running away won't fix it, but learning how to accept it as part of yourself, and then move on? It's such a beautiful episode, I cried the first time.

Also, you want the Whaletaur's suicide metaphor to sting even more? Notice how she has seaweed wrapped around her forearms and wrists. Nownit might just be to look like bracelets or something, but they also look suspiciously like bandages. Hmmm, now what often causes people to require bandages on their wrists?
@rozyscozy2 жыл бұрын
@@shieldgenerator7 I suppose Sunfish Merguy's 'distract them with fun' technique might have served as a kind of triage, to separate the deeply depressed from the ones just having a low period. Any beings that he could save from Whaletaur's mouth, he would probably consider a win. If he did save any, that is. That empty theme park was sinister as hell.

I'm glad someone else recognizes how crazy it is that there's a 2D animated show that not only features one of the most notoriously challenging creatures draw as a main character (not even counting the other centaurs), but also the fact that it's animated and relatively anatomically accurate. Between the premise, tone, and execution, it seems like something that could only be done on a streaming service. Because, where would you even put this on regular TV?
@Mossy_Forest23 жыл бұрын
I was hesitant on watching centaur world at first because it seemed like one of those "wow were wacky quirky and weird lol RAINBOWS" type of shows. and it IS a little bit like that, but the difference is that our main character ALSO thinks its weird and spends a lot of time in the first episodes complaining and voicing how she dislikes it. so when we have the same-ish feelings as horse in the beginning, as she gets used to the weirdness of the world, we do too! its shown perfectly through the way horse and rider talk together in the last episodes, horse is telling rider about all the weird things that she (and us) have began to think of as the norm, and rider in a way represents us (and horse) in the first few episodes. (I have no idea if that made sense. at least it did in my brain)

I love how this show almost feels like 2 different shows at the same time, yet at no point does it feel like it clashes or is imbalanced. The cartoony goofy side and dark gritty sides are equaly palatable and the fact they go from a goofy episode about playing carnival games to a scene of one of the characters clearly loosing hope with only really minor whiplash is so great. The show is giving me serious Drawfee vibes for some reason. It's like all these friendshaped characters and then the angular horse. -or how the tiny birdtaur sometimes has a handsome face. -or Durpleton's design & personality who seems like someone had a good laugh while making it. -or the sudden anime faces. -or the design of some places. -or Gebbrey. -or Comfortable Doug, whose shtick it is that he is Comfortable Doug. Definitely more because Drawfee's members have been inspired by the modern rounded art style of animation and cosmic horrors and anime and angular anatomy practise and intentional weirdness for the sake of doing something the other drawfee members don't expect or find fun than it has to do with the show itself being similar to Drawfee's art, yet I can't help but to point it out. This is not a statement on the quality of the show or Drawfee. It's merely a comparison. I liked it, though I guess I will have to sleep on it before I state any proper opinion. Edit: Though I guess the comparison is more applicable with their regular drawing challenge videos and not their drawing roleplay series. Whatever, I guess all this just means is that the show seems like people had fun designing it.

Well, the show is really an amalgamation of all those classifications. It wants to deliver the sad, drama filled, tear inducing reality in a world perceived to be this musical magical wonderland. What makes this show so good from a narrative standpoint is its use of contrasting tones and the way that everything comes together through song is just the icing on the cake. The show knows what it wants to be and delivers it in the best way it possibly could. (At least in my opinion)

My favorite media uses elements from multiple genres, specifically comedy and drama. Centaurworld does this beautifully by hiding it's deeper, more meaningful story elements behind a façade of humor. Centaurworld's animation style is a huge factor on audiences' perception of what the show is. The colorful, goofy, vibrant characters make it appear to be nothing more than a kids show. And it's aware of that. The animation is gorgeous, but it serves more than just being pleasant to watch. It uses it's animation style as a story telling device, which I have never seen a show use before. That is what makes it so unique. The show knows how it's perceived, and it rewards those who give it a chance. It rewards them with a wonderfully written narrative, beautiful songs, character development, and very mature and important themes that everyone, no matter their age, can learn from. Centaurworld is a great example of how change is a necessary part of life, and how someone's preconceived notion can be far from the actual truth.

I'm so glad my friend recommended this show to me. It gives me so much nostalgia for shows like Adventure Time and The Amazing World of Gumball. Stuff I grew up watching as a kid and adored. I think I'm gonna rewatch all of those properly now that I have Hulu. Centaurworld is a fantastic show and the animation is phenomenal. I'm super excited for Season 2!!
