"And yet you and I are so very similar"........ interestingly, I believe he is right....in a way, Elkerto and The general are somewhat like the Urskegs, from The Dark crystal, a one that became two and wants to become one again, while Rider and Horse on the other hand are two that behave like one but are still two...... Weird I know, but hear me out. Both relationships represent dualitys, the first one born from self-hatred, and the second one born from friendship, while the general and Elkerto need each other, Rider and Horse depend on each other. It made more sense in my head

I think I understand your logic. It’s like having that one part of yourself that you didn’t know that is important, until it has to be recognized. The Nowhere King was once a Centaur who hated himself. Once separated, we see how the Elk is the emotional part of the Centaur and the General is the “logical” part of himself. Left and right brain. They can bicker, disagree, and on occasion, fight. In the end, they need each other. Emotion cannot be expressed without sense and Logic cannot be given, without understanding.

Interestingly, Elkerto is never actually referred to by name much, either; this might be due to the fact that he feels like an outsider amongst his own kind (which is also why he is drawn in a more serious style than the other centaurs)…

There are two worlds shown in the show. One with goody absurd magical round strange looking characters, and the other with a serious story and anime ESC art style. Two separate animation teams worked on this show together. They spared no expense. :) Highly suggest a watch!
