I've seen some real dumb shit in my career but this one really is unique.

@@PipeDoctor That is kind of hackity, but they likely got a "DEAL" from someone who had a takeoff, or leftover unit they could not return. Back room leftovers is the stuff that you get from a barter! This is why I always hire the work I want t done, and let them hire me for what they want... no side deals. The wrong sized unit must have been one of those "I overbought furnaces last season, so you get the AC for FREE" postcard deals that I constantly get from the SAME companies year over year..... if they are that bad at running their business, I am not likely to engage with them! It was likely far cheaper to add the unit to the air handler, than to rebuild the preconfigured handler. it is just a metal enclosure..... the neighbors will not be inspecting it for sex appeal. But.... connections should be correct. Such as a grommet to protect the wires where they pass through, to prevent rubouts.
