Central African Republic: Russia's Testing Ground | VPRO Documentary

We travel to one of the poorest countries in the world that has become the hub of a major geopolitical game between Russia and the West.
The Central African Republic is the testing ground for Russia's compelling ambition to take African countries into its sphere of influence and turn them against the West. In exchange for raw materials and diplomatic support in the UN Security Council, Russia supplies mercenaries to keep governments in power, education and disinformation with a Moscow perspective.
Journalist Bram Vermeulen meets Wagner's masked mercenaries and their best customer, the president of the Central African Republic. He hears about their gruesome methods of scorched earth, kidnappings and disappearances. He literally engages in a fight with Vladimir Putin's representative in the Central African Republic during a boxing training session with the Russian consul who dismisses all allegations of human rights violations as fake news.
The Russians are waging a disinformation campaign that is riding on a wave of distaste for former colonizer France, who is accused of disinterest in the fate of Africans and racism. This campaign is being carried out on numerous fronts: social media, university lectures and war films in which Russians are the heroes and Westerners the villains.
Journalists who try to combat the disinformation mysteriously die or are threatened.
On the front lines of Cold War 2.0, Bram Vermeulen sees that the West is losing the battle for Africa.

Before anyone criticizes Russians presence in this country, it's better to learn about our historical relationship with France first. Since 1960 year of most African French colonized countries independence, the Central African Republic has been result of coup d'etat and civil wars orchestrated and sponsored by the French oligarchy. Any president accending on top of this country must be appreciated and liked by the French politicians. It's an African country populated by 99% of men and women with brown and Cafe skin color. But the Elites occidentals want to keep us under mud to profite their own libido and maniac desire of wealth. Let me clarify something very important here. When I mentioned occidental, I am referring to the political class not the mass population. French oligarchy wanted and still want major control over resources that remain unexplored. That had created this so called " civil war of 2013" that continue until the term of current president Touadera who was obliged to reach out to the Russians for help. French and others powerful west countries such as England and Belgium, were arming the rebels to attack the elected president Touadera simply because he doesn't accept the idea of being fucked over and over by France. No western country as well the United States didn't respond positively to his S.O.S call despite our " good bilateral diplomatic relationship ". French president Macron had even asked the United Nation to put embargo on local government simply to stop the president solidifying the country defense to allow the rebels hired to keep and entertain CHAOS in the country while they stealing our resources clandestinely. Check all french africans countries military and defense equipments. You will realize the tremendous lack. Most of them especially my country don't even have a tank or helicopter for their own territorial self defense in case of any foreign invasion. Those countries must always depend on French military. Cameroon and Senegal can be counted out of the list. French oligarchy has found a new method to keep up slavery domination using this formula in which none of its colonized countries must not be free military. What country on this earth is really independent or safe if its doesn't have solid army? In my country, soldiers were using woods and their own mouth sound as weapon to train. Who does that? All that is the strategic embargo France had put on us. That is why, it's easy for them to orchestrated war and sponsored any local opposition party leader to attack the peace of the country to the detriment of France politicians who are principals beneficiaries of our resources. The mass population understood the game today. Unfortunately, many can't voice out loud enough due to the highest illiteracy level. But president Touadera and few braves educated women and men have decided to rise up and turn toward Russia who is demonstrating its availability to assist the local government to eradicate the rebels that has been blocking the country to take off accordingly. Other than that, if they have others ambitions, who are us to deny them ? Only if our leaders stand on win-win or 50/50 deal. Wagners or Russians army who cares, we need peace and new diplomatic partners with a win win tangibles projets. China, India, Turkey and Russia presenting themselves so far capable and available. What does my people in Central African Republic need and want? First of all, they need peace in all our territorials including borders with neighbors countries. In North with Chad, and Est Soudan, West with Cameroon and South West the both congos. Our borders with Chad and Soudan must be protected by our army ( Faca). Thanks to the Russians, today they are armed with newest gears and equipments. Something that was not never possible under French " invisible " authority over our previous political leaders. My people need to access to good infrastructures such as good road all over the country. Access to HEALTHCARE which requires construction of hospitals in the capital city as well as others provinces and rural villages. They need access to a descent quality of educational systems. They also need FOOD SELF SUFFICIENCY. To achieve all of the above, we firstly need peace and that was what the Russians had brought so far. 🔴 Am I saying the Russian military haven't committed atrocious act during their function of fighting the rebels ? No! Yes, there are consequences to any act. The locals officials who accepted French oligarchy manipulation to bring mercenaries to fight against their legitimate local government, must think also about lives of innocent that were killed and continued to be prosecuted by the coalitions. The French army abused and killed children not too long ago. Nothing has been done about that. So when they pointing out things when they aren't not pleased. But when it's their blunders, we are supposed to take it and shut the fuck up. But when it's other like Russians, with their poors journalists who are working for promotion and paychecks, poor emotional and uneducated people are being interviewed on the matter they don't even understand. Who some of you want to fool? Stop that neocolonialist propaganda. ⛔️ At the end of the day, none of you even Russia is our savior or messiah. We who understand the geopolitics and studied abroad, and at some point embraced your cultural....know how much our resources are needed by you for your survival. We understand that and aren't against the idea of sharing them at all. But first, it must be appreciated and in two ways exchange. You extract our minerals but help us build up our countries. We are behind in term of equipments reason why Africa is " called " poor continent. We want to be able to use our resource and transform them into anything that could help put our continent, countries on the map to stop the image of " THIRD WORLD". In Central African Republic, this is what the people are expecting from anyone who want to deal with us diplomatically. Also let not forget that our leaders must make a good use of their leadership in order to help the population benefit from the trade. Good governing is a MUST! The occidentals aren't the cause of our downfall. We got role in this too. " " When a civilization is being attacked from outside, it's because interiorly the civilization is destroyed by the the people within ". President Touadera must do his part and let the new diplomatic partners do theirs. Look at a good example of Mali 🇲🇱 government 👏!

I am glad it is not just the Russians, Rwanda and Burundi are there, and Rwanda has proven to be a pan-african country that is ready and willing to help fellow africans. Media always has ways of spinning the story, the Russians are not colonising CAR and it is not possible. The only thing I can hope for CAR leaders is to have a specific and well defined mandate for all these countries participating in stabilizing the country not just the Russians, these countries should not stay there too long, they have to train the local and GET THE HELL OUT, even for my country we should not stay there too long. CAR people need to be independent and look after the country eventually.
