Would y'all consider adding bibliographies to the descriptions of these videos so viewers can dig into the literature around these topics?

@@bothewolf3466 probably not, there's a ton of secondary scholarship on these sources, which is probably what's being used for these lectures unless ole boy happens to read all ancient languages ever

As an historian and anthropologist myself, I can tell you your request is why books are sold for a a hefty price. It would take tremendous amounts of time to compile all his references to hand over. Please be grateful for his rare scholastic presentation which we get for free!

Another great lecture! Thanks so much for making scholarly discussions on great topics like these accessible to the public.

I just discovered this channel a few weeks ago and want to say how much I appreciate the depth and breadth of the subjects covered in these lectures, and how much of a good communicator John is. As an atheist, I was concerned that these lectures were going to be flavored with some religious bias, and I'm happy to report that I don't see that at all. I do wonder how one can take a strictly scholarly approach to these subjects and still be religious, but in the end, that's none of my business. I'm thankful for the content.

What is your academic background? Few people are willing to combine philosophy and theology. Stovepipes are common in academia

The catholic jubilees are more regular than you make seem - after the ones you show here it was every 25 years from 1450. However, recently there have been 3 'extra' jubilees in 1933 (1900 years after the crucifixion), 1983 and 2016.

A lot of the money and harvest every year was sent to the store houses that the had bck then. Remember when the family had to travel far away to get to egypt when there was a famine in the land? They had great storehouses that could sustain everyone while they let the land rest for the year. Plus all the money that was being collected at the temple for the levites.... They were set. It was their way of life

364 days plus a 7 day Jubilee every 7 years = a 371 day year, averages out to 365 day years! And every 28 years a 378 day year = a 54 week year averages out to a 365.25 day year! 28 x 0.25 = 7 days. A perfect calendar for a midwifery Calendar!

If This Were a Christian book, they wouldn't rule out the possibility of it being old, and they would explain away all of the later references as scribal interpolations. Ironically, that could actually be true in the sense of the Book of Enoch or the book of jubilees

The speaker said he did argue Moses never existed... I'm wondering who else he thinks were fictious.. Its A but confusing that someone that feels Moses never existed, would be lecturing about books purported or at least credited to Moses. ????

Most of the books of the New Testament aren’t written by who they say wrote them either, for example several of the letter that say they’re written by Paul, which doesn’t mean they’re not worth reading, it just means we don’t know who wrote them even though we know who didn’t

Even without using textual criticism or historical studies, one can tell that the "5 Books of Moses" were not written by Moses, since one of them - Deuteronomy - has an account of Moses' death in it.

@@matthiasm4299 maybe he rose up 3 days after he died but he didn’t mention that part as he didn’t want to take any light away from his buddy Jesus! I think the bible is important but not in the way we have been told - I think it’s important because it seems that human curiosity stopped with the introduction of Christianity and seeing how everything in life has been flipped, I think a key to understanding the bible is to flip it over and also, study the language and take that study further back than so called Christian scholars have done and take it back to the Sumerian language and by doing that, we will first of all see that Jesus was no poor man’s son and his disciples weren’t ignorant fishermen because a fisher back in those days was a learned high priest and with just a few key words/meanings, the bible starts to look a whole lot different and it actually begins to make sense.
