I want some hardcore Americans, people who are proud to be American." Then it *is* about the answer, isn't it.

@Avicenna - Actually, Kyle misused "irony" when he made that comment. Definition of irony; "the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect"; "a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result." So, rather than saying "irony", Kyle should have said the "purpose" of the tests is not even so much the answers. Kyle also contradicts himself, as in the begging of the video he makes mention of "you young activists" in a way that was speak down of young activists and making fun of them. Then he says of the questions..."it's about how people formulate the answers and how they stand by that". So, he wants someone who has the conviction to "stand by that" or stand for something. I guess it is only okay if they stand for the same things he does.
@isodoublet7 жыл бұрын
@SoloLysander yep. And then that he has to disguise his ideological test in this kind of "it's not about the answers" language shows that he doesn't actually have the conviction to stand behind what he believes in without subterfuge. Now *that*'s irony, wouldn'tcha say?

It sounds like you started with insufficient capital, or made a poor choice in business. Remember that most startups _by far_ need to fail in order to keep wealth more adequately distributed, since our current fiscal state prefers natural wealth redistribution than state policies. (Otherwise capitalist markets end like Monopoly, where few people owning everything and no-one liking anyone very much.) So your company will do society a greater service if it goes under than if it becomes profitable. I kinda like this approach. After starting my own business (from nothing) I too know that the work ethic is often more valuable than many so-called "skills". Getting ahead is about attitude. Many CEO's of big corporations started out as the office gofer, sweeping the floor and making coffee. And they showed their worth by having the right attitude.

My answers to the test presented. 1) What does America mean for you? Order then freedom. 2) What does the word privilege mean to you? A token right not protected by law. Something someone expects because they are whiny. 3) When was the last time you cried and why? I assume onions and comedians don't count so that scene from WALL-E where he dies. It was sad. 4) How do you feel about the police? They enforce order and are underappreciated because people envy their power. 5) How do you feel about guns? I don't like them personally. If a robbers breaks into my house I would prefer to use a sword.

The fact that only Fox News thinks this is a laudable achievement speaks volumes about this guy and his business. This CEO has already shown his stupidity by publicly acknowledging a bias against people who don't necessarily think of themselves as "Americans" first and foremost... Let's be honest, he's looking for hard-core "patriotic" conservatives -- liberals need not apply. I say "stupid" because by publicly acknowledging his bias, he has hurt his business, because any potential clients who see this and feel like they're on the wrong end of his litmus test will treat him the same way and hire his competition. So, years from now, all he will have are like-minded staff and like-minded clients... a recipe for a non-discrimination lawsuit if ever I heard one. Then the final nail will be when his client list is made public and there is some connection with a known hate group or other criminals, which he will be unable to dismiss as random if all of his clients share the same "mindset".

Nationalism is considered social conservatism and social conservatism is a result of low IQ. If one cannot question why believing one's country is superior one is missing that ability. The inability to question authority, the government, and national supremacy are all evidence of low IQ. On the other hand, the ones in power, able to sway you to obey authority for their own gains do not have a low IQ. Just those whom are tricked into thinking nationalism is in the people's best interest.

Man, this is the worst Onion skit skit ever :( I really like the Onion, but their skits have been declining in quality recently. Can you guys tell me what kind of snowflake I am based on the diameter/likeness to Roger Ailes' decaying body? I'd rate a 9 out of 11 because the details are suspicious and require further investigation (hence why I've come to outsource this question to the faithful followers of FOX). My attempts at making a painting out of love-juice would make Roy Moore blush, but I did it on an easel rather than a 13-year-old girl so I don't think he would approve. EDIT: Shit, I just realized this is a video made in earnest by FOX. Now I can laugh again.

The main reasons he cites in the first 1 min have nothing to do with political leaning or perspective, it was all about basic competencies. Then he somehow transitions to "Americans"... as if the same idiots he just talked about not wanting to hire, have not been fostered and brought up *in* American schools, and we should be questioning not their values, but why the schools failed to teach them basic things like civics. Then the interview transitions to yet another sub-plot : loyalty, and then some ridiculous 'mindset' as he calls it, that is basically about work ethic. Then in conclusion, there aren't any 'right or wrong' answers, and you have to stand by your position, especially on your view of the police and guns (as if this matters in a workplace? Police = good, robbers = bad; guns = seriously dangerous and often useful). This is pure agit-prop, Fox nonsense; the red meat it's zonked out viewers lap up like milk. He concludes: "I'm going up against people who have a sense of entitlement and won't hustle" - which is some sort of hiring dog whistle for liberals? As if ONLY liberals don't have hustle and a sense of gratitude? C'mon anyone who has hustle and respects hard work is someone ANY CEO should hire regardless of political stripe. In short the logic here is just plain missing and this is a pure puff piece that ends up being right wing drivel.

Like he said at the beginning, the answers don't matter as much as the way they're formulated & presented. 2. As to the nature of the questions, he implies that a lot of his client base is strongly patriotic, probably conservative in nature. Therefore, it would make sense to hire people who feel strongly about patriotism and who are conservative in nature. No use hiring a liberal whose values would clash with most of his clients. Mess8424 it's at least explicitly worded to avoid political bias, but a lot of the questions still overlap with very political implications (policing and how it should be carried out and questioning how much of what one earns is entirely their effort and not in part due to the circumstances they're in), or at least they are in the United States. The exception is the one about crying, I think. The rest still carry a heavy political connotation in the States afaik.

Leong Kin Wai I realize that, and while a couple questions are a bit questionable, if he truly does “grade” based on quality of answer/argument rather than their specific answer, then it’s not a problem. Like he said, a lot of his clients are very patriotic. Someone who is at odds with police officers or military would not be suited there, because this company needs to make money. And those people exist on both sides.

More companies should do what this man is doing. If you are not willing to work for the things you want in life I personally have no time to deal with you.

People become more productive when they have vacations. No need to grind yourself through work when you produce a lower percentage of work for each hour spent at work. I don't want to waste my life working my life away for some smuck like that that makes me "earn" my vacation on his terms - for all we know he could think that for every year you work you've "earned" 1 day of vacation. I like the Danish system better - the economic productivity is about the same as in the US, but they work 5 hours less/week than Americans and have a legal right to 4 weeks and paid vacation each year. 12.5% of your pay (is added on top of your regular pay) goes to paying for your vacation. That money is paid out when you take your vacation. So if I make $20/hour then I get paid $2.5 into my vacation time or a total of $22.5/hour. In that way Danes truely work for their vacations and aren't at the mercy of their boss to say when they can take a day off or not.
